The character's mom is originally from Ireland, and I found the name on a list of Irish names on the internet. I also tend to like names that start with a T.

Having asthma, Terrance tends to exercise his brain more than he exercises his body. This puts him at an opposite to his boyfriend, Asher, and has given him a love for coding, logic games, and strategics, making him almost insanely intelligent. His father is originally from Japan, and he now is a high ranking officer in the US military. His mother, originally from Ireland, died in an accident when Terrance was 14. Terrance lives on base with his dad.

Terrance often has a snappy, negative personality, and he hates being proven wrong, yet he has a very soft, very vulnerable side that can only normally be brought out by his dad or by Asher. Terrance has noted before that he would probably be very lost and friendless if it wasn't for Asher rounding out his personality.
