Thaévyn Sinstrike is a templar of some renown. Now a mere combat instructor, he was once a hero; a forerunner in the fight against the Techromancer, the northern trolls, and other threats the united peoples of Skala faced.

He is but a shadow of that man.

Alcohol is his crutch. He caries a gin bottle everywhere he goes, to remain drunk throughout the day. His level of coherence is incredible. His blade skills have not died. But he is staggered by this vice; it cost him his formal knighthood.

He is a Shard- someone who has seen or visited other worlds or alternate realities. Like all Shards on Skala, he was required to legally register himself, and was given a mark on his eye. This 'tattoo' manifests itself in a symbol of one's inner characteristics and power.

After being discharged, he continued to train, passing his knowledge along to generations of students. A young wood elf named Beliaer in particular stood out for his strength and determination. Eager to encourage, Thaévyn took the boy under his wing, and they have been close ever since. Once his immediate use to the High Arcane Council expired, Beliaer returned to Thaévyn's outpost to keep an eye on his mentor.

Thaévyn's talent lies in finding and breaching. Somehow he always manages to cross borders, whether or not he's trying. This first happened when, dreaming of an open field, he met a boy there. And saw him the next night. And the next. That boy was Galen Arkenesis. They have stayed friends through the years, and still communicate through the dream plane.

He is engaged to his much younger cousin, Magwin, by family pact. Neither are eager for the union, but Magwin is determined to uphold her parents' expectations, and Thaévyn has run out of hiding places. He treats her respectfully, and is fond of her none the less.
