Wren is a human-like alien from a distant galaxy. Her race, the Taal, possess the ability to manipulate space.

Despite being born to a family within the spiritual sect of her people, her aptitudes led her into the military. While still in training it is discovered that she is by far the most powerful of her people ever to have lived, possessing the unique ability to teleport herself across the vastness of space.

Fearing being used by the military as a weapon or a lab rat she flees first her home system and then her galaxy. She does not know if her people chase her still. The time distortion related to her ability means that thousands of years have passed since she fled. Yet she still keeps a wary watch, prepared at all times to leap once more into the dark void between stars.

Currently she is associated with the Ooloo Empire and has taken a couple of backwater system primitives, Bagel and Mina, under her wing.
