a BJD in a MOVIE or VIDEO?

There was a music video for Nier Automata that involved destroying a bunch of BJDs, that was pretty difficult to watch

 

I've spotted another BJD in a movie!
It's an old movie-based-on-a-novel called "Goth" (or "The love of death") from 2008.
There's a BJD at about 48 minutes in. You can see the jointing, but I think the head may be a modified porcelain doll's head. Then again, it may be an older, defunct company's doll that's no longer in production.

Now, this wasn't a movie, it's a 3-part OVA called "Le Portrait de Petit(e) Cosette", which first aired in 2004. The titular girl, Cosette, appears as a ghost in the story. While she does have chains wrapped around her (suggesting a marionette-like figure), she was always shown as a flesh and blood girl.

However, in a promotional party (that also took place in 2004), the role of Cosette was "played" by a life-sized BJD. She can be seen in Vol 13 of the Gothic Lolita Bible (found here: Gothic & Lolita Bible Vol. 13 : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive ) where they covered the event. This doll was an artist-made doll by Etsuko Miura (who, incidentally, also created the doll for the cover of Mylene Farmer's Point de Suture album).

So... another movie(-related) random BJD sighting (that's not a horror movie)!

 

So, in yugioh gx, "what a doll!" an obvious bjd comes to life and duels Jaden. but her doll monsters are kinda nasty.

 

I'm not sure if this counts, since it's certainly not a movie. However, Kingdom Hearts 3 has a doll boss named Angelic Amber that you fight that I'm pretty sure is supposed to be a bjd, or something similar. Her price tag is also $255.99

I've enjoyed this song, "Doll," for years, but first saw the music video today. A Volks F-01 makes a few appearances.

 

This isn't a movie, and I can't speak to the quality of it since I only played for like a month when it came out, but there's a BJD character in the gacha/RPG game Honkai Star Rail. If memory serves, she's a doll being possessed by the real character, as like an extra body for her.



The joints bother me, but hey, it's a doll in a non-horror context?

Are there any not scary movies so they don’t get used as creepy doll prop?

 

I just watched episode 5 of the kdrama Head over Heels and there is a room with quite a few bjds dolls and posters. It's not creepy per se but the main doll that is the centre of the episode is attached to a baby ghost (doesn't move on its own or anything, just attached to it with a red string).

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here. I’m trying to find a YouTube speedpaint/timelapse video I first saw in August 2015, then again around 2016, and finally maybe in 2020. The original upload seems to be from around 2013.

The video showed Miley Cyrus transformed into a ball-jointed doll (BJD) — she was the only person turned into a doll. The background song was “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus, but sped up, in F minor, with reverb. I think the video was made using Photoshop CS5 and possibly edited with Camtasia 4 or Sony Vegas Pro 12.

The scene showed Miley in a cream-colored dollhouse, with a black cage, roses, a mirror, and Gothic Lolita-style decorations. The thumbnail had her on a white background with red or blue rectangles and white text, something like “Miley Cyrus Photoshop BJD”.

The creator is English and may have also made another edit of Ariana Grande (not as a doll). I don’t remember the creator’s name.

I tried reverse image searches (TinEye, Yandex, Google Lens) using my reconstructed image, but found nothing.

This video actually made me discover BJDs for the first time, and it brings back a lot of nostalgia. Even if the video isn’t fully lost, it has completely disappeared from YouTube and search engines.

If anyone remembers similar Photoshop speedpaints or BJD-themed edits from that time, or even this exact video, please let me know. Any clue would help a lot!
