1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

A company makes a doll based on you

Nov 6, 2014

    1. i really should start sculpting again, used to do it in highschool and really lost my touch in the world of art, I would absoloutly let my face be available. Especially if it comes complete with facial hair lol. That and i would love to see what kind of inventive ideas people would apply to my face, be it face ups, trans gender, hair, changin race or skin, as well as the creative back story and character persona everyone has for their dolls. It could be really fun to watch.

    2. hmm.... If I was guaranteed that the face mold would be based on my facial structure, but not in a hyper-realistic, overly detailed manner, I think I'd enter. It would be really cool to see a BJD interpretation of myself, especially because BJDs are so beautiful. I'd really love to see the different faceups and customizations people would give to a doll inspired by my face. I'd stay away from venues where my mold would be evaluated or criticized (like message boards or Tumblr), because that would be really weird to read. But I'd definitely prowl through Flickr for beautiful photos from doll owners. It has the potential to be a very flattering and self-esteem boosting contest prize! :D

    3. There are a few smiling/grinning, sad, smirking, winking sculpts though... do not underestimate the creativity of BJD owners. There is the option of modding too.
Yes, it is harder when a doll has lines or wrinkles "built in". But most companies do keep their dolls quite smooth, which leaves the option of you being able to paint it the way you want - a faceup really does add a lot, so you should not need to sculpt wrinkles.

    4. Nooo... I've got issues getting photographed, let alone being turned into a resin sculpture ^^". Besides, unless the sculpt was really stylized, it would look weird on most doll bodies out there.

    5. Yes! I'm pretty on default but my face is a familiar one. It could be a whole host of personalities and styles! That would be pretty cool and I could see what I might look like truly punk, preppy, ultra girly, boyish, a guy, and more without having to literally change myself. The company would only make a difference if I disliked the stule. I would be all over an offer like this from Iplehouse but would not be at all interested in Doll Chateau.

    6. Oh hell yeah, you only live once! I would be endlessly amused to see what people did with my face!!

    7. AHAHAH, I don't think they would sell a lot, but I would find it interesting. I have a fairly regular face but a very strong (big and curved) nose, and I'd really like to see how people would do the face up and the hair of the doll. Or if someone would use it to shell a male character (I'm not particularly masculine, but still, makeup makes miracles!

    8. Oh gosh, that sounds like something out of a horror movie to me. People stealing my face! xD Although admittedly, it would be fun to see people make different styles and stories for my face. I could watch the creativity and quietly chuckle to myself. But tbh, I'm way too self-conscious for that sort of thing. Plus how do I explain that to my brothers? They would never let me live it down

Although I would love to be turned into, like, a horror doll. That would be hilarious

    9. Would you do it?

      Yes, I would. Totally. ^^

      Why or why not?

Why, you ask...Well, I think could be fun and yes, I'd love to have a dolly version of myself.

Would the company, who made the offer, alter your decision?

Yes, the company that offers would totally alter my decision. I would be the most inclined to do it, if it were Volks holding the offer. If it were Bobbobie, I'd have to say no.

    10. I'd love to have one made in any case, but I'd adore to have one made by Iplehouse XD

I was thinking that it would be literally perfect to shell my LARP characters XD... I'd like a lot to shell at least three or four of them (10 years playing, and I even was a master for two or three years XD, I've got PLENTY)

    11. The idea to have a doll like me, living with me, seems wonderful. But it scares me to know that other people have replicas of me worldwide. I think it's mainly because I do not know what people would do with these dolls.

    12. I wouldn't want a doll of me to be publicly available, no. It is kind of fun to think of what a realistic doll version of me would look like, especially if I could pick the companies/sculptors. I would want to be a hybrid--- the Zaoll body would be the perfect body for a doll of me and it would be awesome to see what a head sculpt of me would come out like if done by the Elfdoll sculptor! But it's not something I would actively try to commission even if i had that kind of money and I wouldn't want to have it sold.

    13. I suppose it would depend on what company was offering this contest. If it was one of my favorite companies, I would do it without hesitating. Otherwise I really wouldn't care all that much.

    14. I'm conflicted here. I would really like to see a doll with my face and I think that I'd enjoy seeing how people would customize "my face", but on the other side it kinda creeps me out to think that people would have dolls with my face. So probably as much as the idea amuses me I do not think I'd take part in that contest.

    15. Since this has already happened to me. The fairyland nanuri 14 is identical to me (and my twin lol) and available for wide purchase, I'm cool with it. It feels weird and strange seeing people buy and sell my face though. I also have found new makeup options...

    16. I'd do it, it all depends on how the sculpt actually looked, If it looks good then I would love to see all these different "copies" of me, if it didn't look good no-one would buy the sculpt anyway.

    17. Oh MOST definitely. Just bring it on-I'd love to see how I might look like in other skin colors and even as a different sex. I'd like to see how my face can change and appear in so many different ways.

    18. Shinedoll do that. I would love to try one day

    19. The idea sounds very interesting but I don't think I'd want to participate. I'm already slightly creeped out by dolls based off famous people so I would probably be creeped out by a doll that looked like me. Uncanny Valley thing and all that. Although I suppose if it were stylized enough that wouldn't be such a problem, but I'd still feel weird knowing people out there have dolls with my face, even with different faceups. It would be hilarious seeing my face on a lot of the bodies out there though, dolls are often super models and I am definitely not, haha.

    20. No, it's weird. I wouldn't want people owning a mini copy of me.
