Like I said before a more realistically shaped pelvis and mons would probably already help a lot. And personally I love how the vulva's on Dollstown bodies look: That actually looks like two pieces of skin coming together, instead of deep cut in the flesh. The outer labia are a bit round, as if they're made of fat covered with skin, but that's exactly all the detail it needs. Just like faint muscle definition or bone structure in the face, the hint of real anatomy would be wonderful, especially if the rest of the body isn't stylized.

 

This is what I was referring to when I said at least make it look graceful. There's some plumpness in a real woman, so having that on a doll should make female pelvises look more natural. So far many of the MSDs I've seen have a cut, a straight line that distinguishes it from a genderless pelvis.

 

I don't even like the fact that dolls have reproductive parts to them. Quite frankly, I don't think they need them. And despite what people may be into, it creeps me out just a bit. I especially dislike the various penis attachments on some dolls I have seen..
I can respect the fact that one may like a more detailed vagina on their doll, but I for one, do not, and I am glad they are manufactured as simply as they are.

 

Jut as a side note, the sharmistha body has a well sculpted vagina, although that isnt to my tastes at all xD;;

Yep, Sharmistha does indeed have a vulva, and it's a bit of an outie. This is a major improvement, as far as I'm concerned--I'm sick to death of all the fanboy fantasy dolls with GINORMOUS tits and little almost-neuter fingernail-slits between their legs, if even that. I have my Sharmistha, I intend to blush her body to some extent (I'm not going into veins and such as some do; I don't have the painting-patience), and *whoot* that she actually has something worth blushing.

Edit to add: my husband's (a fanboy his whole life) response to my recount of this thread was "Hey, if fanboys design these, they've all seen the massive racks in comics and anime, but wouldn't know a vagina if it it bit 'em because they've never actually seen one. And they probably think it really would bite." His words, not mine!

 

I guess I see how one might want a more detailed vulva, but I think that if they where sold that way they'd just increase the stereotype that the doll community as a whole is a big fetish community. And I know not everyone wants their dolls detailed down there, for me even the little resin-blob penises guy dolls have is a little bit too much. It just feels awkward ._.; and I don't see why girls should have well-sculpted vulvas when boys just have little tubes of resin, it's not like you can see any detail there and they generally don't have testicles so I think the detail level is the same on both genders. Neither one needs to be improved upon ^^; that's what I think, anyway. I might be a little turned off from the hobby if everyone had really detailed junk, it's just not my thing

 

Except for the male dolls that do have more detail than just a resin tube. Have you seen Idealian's junk? He's got sculpted pubic hair. Some male dolls are obviously circumcised. I've seen one that pointedly wasn't. If we can have even that little bit of variation between resin-lumps-representing-penises, why can't we have that much diversity in resin-slits-representing-vulvas?

My girl dolls are jealous. They have genital-detail envy. As I said before, I'm not asking for labia down to her knees. I'm not even asking for pubic hair, because I'll add that myself. I'm just asking for something that actually looks like skin meeting at a fold as opposed to a flaw in the otherwise pristine and sexless pelvic area of 9 out of 10 female doll bodies.

 

This. While in some cases (perhaps more matured dolls) it would be "reasonable" to have more detailed genitalia, seeing/handling it myself still feels awkward. I like keeping undergarments on all my dollies.

 

I'm not sure why but the more detailed female genitalia really creeps me out, however on the opposite end of the spectrum the more detailed male genitals do not. I myself seem to be perfectly fine with just the 'slit' opening on my girl dolls. I have male dolls ranging from very little detail to in detail, and neither one bothers me. Nor do I feel bad for my boys who are not as well endowed. Maybe, it is because I have never felt the need to have my dolls "realistically" blushed in their nether-regions for males or females. If I've got underware, then the dolls are wearing it, more to protect from clothing dye then anything else.

 

I'm very much so for this, or at least make the "slit" more genuine looking you know? An overly detailed one would look weird because of the space depending upon the doll, if you have a non-detailed perhaps pre-teen body then a general "somewhat more detailed slit" would be in order but if you have a very realistic mature body I say the more vagina the better! Same thing for penises.

Also, I agree wheres the scrotum on all these dolls? I see the penis (usually just a crude sausage looking thing) but no scrotum, I would also like more detail taken to the male genitalia, such as a urethral opening, perhaps more detail to me meatus, and perhaps more shaft detailing (veins anyone?) then again I just like a well formed penis in general....

 

You know I decided last night what doll vaginas look like to me. They look like the process akin to routine male circumcision that goes on in some African societies (and other societies) called labiectomy (though I do believe it can occur for medical reasons or other reasons in many other parts of the world), where they completely remove the vulva and leave only a wound that is sometimes stitched permanently closed (such as in Africa), except when it is opened to allow for the passage of various fluids. I won't pass judgment on this practice, but suffice it to say it makes me very sad for my girl.

In any case, there is so much variety in this hobby that people who like more detailed genitalia ought to be able to have them, and people who don't want them at all ought to be able to have the same thing. People seem to have very little problem modding off such things, so maybe it really shouldn't matter. I don't know. :P

And as others have said, it makes me very sad for the people who have such negative views of vaginas (well really genitalia at all), especially their own. It just highlights the general lack of respect people have for women, and reminds me why we still need feminists.

I certainly think it would be preferable (imo) for the vulva to be a little bit more accurate; some aren't too bad (can't really remember as don't generally look at their genitals lol), but perhaps some improvement on the shape. That said, I do wish the boys had a more accurate scrotum, they tend to be a very tight and withdrawn one, I'm not talking great big dangly things, but some defintion would be good. I also agree on the idea of circumcised penises as without that the molded ones will just look like little sausage tubes unless the artists go to the effort of the wrinkly skin. I'm also for some more accuracy on the dollies bits, except on the tinies 'cus they're babies

 

i'm happy with most dolls the way they are, male and female. even if they were all totally blank i would be fine. but thinking more about it, more diversity in bodies would be nice. i mean, we have a hundred thousand head sculpts to look at, but the bodies are all pretty similar. my two boys though are pretty different. my volks boy is definitely uncircumcised, with some nice detail showing that, and my dollzone boy is circumcised. so with the girls, i would love to own a more realistically sculpted body. basically i like the stylized and the realistic.

on a side note though, i agree with what some people said in that, the vague way most girl dolls are sculpted is the way most(?) human women look when they're standing up right? however, not all women look that way i'm sure, and like i said, diversity in the genital sculpting might be nice.

and i agree with what a few others have said, it is really sad how much shame there is around our bodies.

Volks guys do have scrotums. Scrotii? Anyway, they have 'em. Nothing that gets in the way of pants fitting properly, of course. If you had this big dangling whatsit on top of a big scrotal lump, all sculpted out of hard resin, pants would look SO alarming. I would have to dress all these boys in caftans to keep them decent. Things we just don't stop to think about.

(BTW if you really want, you can buy fully sculpted prostheses for 'recreational' use, when pants are not involved. BuffParts makes a dandy shootin'-iron.)


Girl dolls are fortunate in that they don't have to worry about that so much under clothes. If they're wearing pants tight enough to show anatomy, and want to show anatomy, I think a set of cameltoe falsies wouldn't be too hard to engineer. XD

I agree that there is far too much shame surrounding female genitalia; the problem is the media has sexualised women to the extreme so now it's just something dirty and pornographic rather than something feminine and beautiful.

I would like to see some kind of effort being put into making female dolls have more accurate genitalia; I'm not talking going the whole way because that would be fragile and interefere with clothing, just a suggestion that the ladies haven't had their parts completely removed.

I've been reading this and am shocked, but not surprised at how few people know what external female anatomy looks like. The slit on the BJDs I've seen is not at all realistic and I would like to see something with at least a similar level of realism to what you do with a penis on a male BJD.

 

I don't particularly get why the immature MSDs have them. I know that my DM Kid is never getting a photo in the buff, unless it's for a reason like I was showing someone the thigh jointing, or restringing (but even when I restrung her, I could do it while her underwear was on).
