A frank, mature discussion about doll-vaginas. (nudity)

Oct 24, 2010

    1. o.O Well, this topic is certainly....interesting. Frankly, I could care less about whether my doll's private bits are realistically detailed or not. It's not something I look for, although I will admit I got a good kick out of Soom's Idealian body. That particular part has.....*ahem* very realistic detailing. :XD:

    2. Er...a lot of real life women do just look like they only have a slit down there. The labia majora just covers everything. If you want more detail in the labia, that's fine but I don't see anything wrong with the way it is. Maybe we could have options like breast size so everyone's happy?
I feel like male dolls are the ones who need more work. My FI looked at a doll body I was considering and said the poor doll's penis looked like a Cheeto. :crushed

    3. Well I'm gonna say that this entire post just stopped my clock! Really, nothing offensive and I have no opinion one way or nuther. But found the viewpoints very interesting and am convinced their are very many artistic people on this board who take their doll's beauty very seriously. Actually enjoyed reading thru these.

    4. I have no interest in realistic vaginas for my dolls, as I keep them dressed.
And I don't like vaginas, they look gross to me. Sorry.

      I don't like penis either. >_>
A simple bulge à la Ken is enough.

    5. I would really like to see at least a little more detail, not really more then a slit... but maybe just more shapely? instead of a line in the crotch. I suppose just a little more shape could be modded but I don't care enough to go that far.

    6. I don't like my dolls looking like ken or barbie dolls, but I've not often thought more about it than that. Dolls without have always been quite weird to me to the point where I've decided not to get dolls based on the fact that they'd had their genitals modded off. For males, I really appreciate that slight definition that a penis gives under their clothing. For females this isn't so much the case, but I think the female body is beautiful and something I'm proud to have so I like my ladies to have everything too. It's nothing to be ashamed of, for me. It's also totally cool if dolls are transgender and transitioning or intersexed. I don't expect doll companies to necessarily make dolls like that, but if you have that character and want to take it upon yourself to do those mods to make that doll totally what you see it as, groovy. :) There's a whole spectrum of ways a doll could be and I think that's wonderful and cool.

I think that the level of realism should match that of the dolls the penises and vaginas belong to. I've been getting into more realistic dolls the longer I've been in this hobby and I think I like the idea of my dolls being totally realistic, clothed or unclothed. I enjoy that degree of continuity with the dolls that are realistic, beautiful art pieces. With women, we don't all just have slits, I think it would be nice if some dolls had more of a range for what vaginas look like. It actually would be a bonus to me if a doll was different in that way, not that it would be a deciding factor. As for penises, I find ones with detail interesting. My boy I have coming in is a Spiridoll Proud and he's coming with a literal bag of dicks. There are three options that the doll comes with and I am super excited about that. I think it's a little funny that they decided to make that a standard option for their dolls in that line, but I applaud them for it. People that are uncomfortable with penises can have the option of having nothing there; they can even ask that the penises not be included. And people that are more like me and think it's fun can have their dicks to change out on their doll as they please!

I don't feel like I would like a doll with pubic hair simply because I don't think that sculpted hair on dolls look good, at least not very often. It isn't that I don't like hair, not at all. I just think it's a tricky thing to do. Maybe doll merkins are something people could make for their dolls if they're particularly concerned with it? I don't know. I really like hairy men, but it seems hard to translate onto dolls.

    7. I'm new to the hobby and I just did my first body blushing. The day after I showed my bjd-collector friend and she seemed chocked that I had given my doll hair on her body. Like public hair and in armpits. "The character is medieval lower class", I said "don't think she shaves".

She said she had never thought about her dolls and the possibility of public hair.

I would love to have more realistic dolls in every way, also the vulva. It feels wrong for me, personally, that my dolls are so blank in skin and body. I feel like I have to really strain to make them into real characters that resembles real people somewhat.

Thank you for bringing up the subject!

    8. I don't photograph my dollies nude it sounds weird but I respect them to much I think the detail on their 'private parts' its not visible so why put it there :)

    9. LOL sorry for laughing but that cheeto comment...XD :XD:

Too realistic puts me off because my dolls are not even that realistic...my small boys do have cheeto penises XD but I don't even remember the ones from the big boys, I don't really pay attention to it ^^ except, if it is too big I have a hard time with the trouser >_<

    10. I don't really care all that much about what the dolls' private parts look like... I mean if they were less there than they are, then yes, I'd be concerned. Like Barbie dolls and stuff!

But the way they are, they're nice and realistic enough for me!
I do however look at certain things when looking at dolls to buy... like the look and position of their nipples! Some are pretty ugly >_<
The lower parts aren't that much of an issue though haha.

They don't have to be super accurate as my dolls aren't anything like real people, I look at them more like manga/fantasy characters so it's fine the way they are!

    11. I don't really pay much attention to my dolls' privates, and I think they are fine the way they are. More detailed than Barbie and Ken as I would expect, but not completely realistic. I don't see a need for it I suppose *shrugs*. I keep my dolls fully clothed anyways. I do like your interpretation, NamiyaKou, I see them as being stylized people too, so maybe that's why it's never really bothered me :)

    12. It doesn't really brother me weather a dolls downstairs area is detailed or not. But I guess it would make sense that if a doll is more realistic looking then it should be more realistic everywhere. But it's not like it would stop me from buying one I liked if it wasn't. I mean my dolls would always wear clothes so in the end it doesn't matter to me. :sweat

    13. I do enjoy sensual/naked picture of dolls and I would be ok with a sculpted and maybe blushed slit, but I would be much uncomfortable with something more detailed or spread.

    14. I don't really see why the dolls have sculpted privates anyway, but I wouldn't find it offensive. Maybe since the vagina is (usually) only seen if the lips are spread they don't find it necessary to sculpt the inside?

    15. I don't think much about dolly privates, seems irrelevant for most collectors. My dolls all have little slits but it doesn't seem sexual our lacking in any way. Of course if my girls were more anatomically accurate, I think my husband would be weirded out.

    16. To me it's not even a matter of sculpting the inside (definitely unnecessary in my book), but about making the slit look less like a cut made with a tool and more like closed folds of flesh-- softer, like there's fat underneath the skin maybe?

There should be a little fatty deposit over the mons but I don't know that I've ever seen that save for on artist dolls. It would just be a nice touch if a girl was going to be in a bathing suit or in a lingerie photoshoot, to have her shaped with that kind of detail... Sometimes it's nice to have details, not because anyone will ever see them, but because they make a thing feel complete and cared about on a deeper level. Obviously it's not a philosophy one often sees applied to doll junk, but it's one I like seeing applied to craftsmanship in general, so I do think it would be nice to see more often just for that reason.

Plus, unlike sculpting realistic peens, smoothing out the slit a little and giving a definite pubic mound won't really affect the way anything but the VERY tightest clothes fit!

    17. Both Doll Chateau and the Popovy sisters's girls have a softer line on the vulvas. The Popovy dolls even have a bit of the clitoris showing. And some of the DC male bodies have what looks like a 'strung' penis, which I assume can move up and down. And I think I saw a dolls somehwere with a much more detailed vulva. It showed a slit like most others, but it had a clitoris and sculpted pubic hair, and the slit was bigger, more open but not spread open if you know what I mean.
Personally I find dolls that are a bit more detailed to be quite interesting. I've always felt bad for the 'cheeto boys', because, well, I like a nice penis. My doll's genitals aren't something I view as sexual, they're dolls after all, so I don't find it offensive or too weird if the girls have more than just ''the gouge''. Though I find that the amount of genital detail a doll can 'carry' really, really depends on the rest of the doll. For instance, a more realistic looking vulva wouldn't, imho, be ''appropriate'' on a Dollfie Dream Alisa, whereas I would expect the vulva of say, Souldoll's Uha to be more soft and natural looking.

    18. agree with all of this.
not ALL women have anything visible other than the 'big lips'. it's not a flaw of sculpt or anything.
I guess it would be nice to have diversity, but seeing how most males don't have much details I don't see the point of making girls with extra details either.

anyway, 'flappy parts' being made of solid plastic just seems... off. even if they made the boys and girls really detailed so you could take pictures of them naked, it would still be limited because hey, if the guy is lying on his side the penis should not be in that position. and heyyy if that girl has her legs wide open then her vulva should not look the same it does when she's standing with her legs closed.
so really, I see no point in making them more detailed. you couldn't really take the focus to it without it looking weird in some way.

    19. I would be much happier if there wasn't anything at all down there. I feel bad dragging my doll out of their boxes if they don't have underwear or longer dresses because it might make more conservative family members upset if they caught a glance at their vagina as un-detailed as they are. I'm not saying sculptures shouldn't do them at all but it's just not my preference.

    20. Well I don't photograph my dolly nude so I wouldn't really NEED them to be more detailed but I guess I would like it to be a bit more detailed down there, on both male and female dolls. Just to know they are more realistic...though it would make changing their clothes seem like I was invading their privacy more since they would actually have something they would consider 'private'.
