A frank, mature discussion about doll-vaginas. (nudity)

Oct 24, 2010

    1. Very interesting read. Generally speaking I don't care either way. Although I don't think I would want hyper realism, but after going to look at the Dollstown 15 years I have to say I rather like it. It's just enough to make it look like there's something there inside, and kind of...soft looking. Sculpted hair on the genitals wouldn't bother me the way sculpted facial hair does only because I wouldn't really see it anyway until I undressed/changed the doll. But I certainly don't have to have it.

But I liked a point Jenny brought out, how much of the detail or lack there of may have to do with the sculpters attitude/thoughts on this very matter as well as comfort level and culture.

    2. I don't have any female dolls, but I'm all for realism regardless of gender. I consider BJDs to be an opportunity to celebrate human beauty, and I don't see why should one concentrate more on detailed and realistic chests, for example, but skimp on the genitals. It's been taboo for so long, but why can't we love our bodies and see them as beautiful wholly? :) Whoever doesn't want it can cover it up, as with our own bodies, we are free to do whatever we want, use or not use, but thankfully, we still have the parts. :) Do we giggle at roman or roman-style sculptures? (Unless we're 3 years old.) Do they cause perversion in people who see or own them? Hardly.

    3. I've actually seen a realistic vulva on a doll and honestly it's not particularly attractive to me. At least, not an opened one. If you think about it, when a woman's legs are together, generally you don't see very much more than a slit similar to the dolls, much like several people have pointed out. It's not sexist, either. Male genitalia is frequently a rather unappealing lump of resin.

    4. As long as the indentation is graceful and natural looking, rather than just a rough, straight indentation that looks like it was just made as an afterthought, I'm fine with female genitals as portrayed on dolls. There's not really any reason to show other than the slit since that's almost always what you see on a girl/woman if she's standing.

That being said, there are a lot of girl dolls that I find offensive cause their slits do look like they just decided to change an asexual pelvis to a female by cutting into it. There is some fullness/curves around a natural slit, at least try to show it. :\

But that's also my reaction to male dolls with weird looking penises and sac. The only one I could think of at the moment that kinda bothers me a lot is Dollmore boys... something about the placement and how it looks. Then again I don't look at and interact with nekkid dolls much so it doesn't bother me too much. Xd

    5. I don't really get how a single line can be placed "haphazardly" or done "carelessly", especially if the intent wasn't to make it realistic as I'm pretty sure most dolls were. For the most part a vagina has an inside and an outside, you either see a slit or you see the whole shebang, theres only so much you can do to make a single line look "graceful".

Now, I'm pretty new to this hobby (though I've definitely seen more pics of doll vagina than I had originally intended) - but maybe there are sculpts where the vagina is some how too far to the left, or side ways (which is only way I can really see a slide as being careless) and if so, then thats more amusing to me than offensive.

On a more personal note, I think the vagina pretty gross. I don't really buy into the whole "oh-so-beautiful-part-of-our-womanhood" ideal. I've looked at a vagina, I've seen several and I don't think they are gorgeous or lovely in anyway shape or form. I think they are fleshy, sometimes wet and look a lot like a terrible wound that went horribly wrong. Does that mean I hate my vagina? Of course not. My vagina is important to me and I think childbirth is a miracle and amazing. But I'm not going to kid myself into thinking that is the part of my body I would consider beautiful or want to show off in an art exhibit.

in short; Unless you are taking pornographic pictures of your doll (and I'm assuming most people aren't), I don't see why the inside of a doll needs to be super detailed, when the main concern is its outward appearance.

    6. I think part of the problem for some is even the "single line" isn't quite right. On most female dolls I've seen nude there are is a slit in the front sort of like a small tool gouge as well as the well sculpted "butt crack" when in actuality (at least on all the women I've seen nude) there is one cleft that goes from front to back.

    7. Now that you've explained it, it makes a little bit more sense what people are looking for. I guess reading through this thread its seem a lot of "full on open vagina with all the bits and pieces" and "almost nothing there". And I was assuming the "almost nothing there people" were complaining that there was something specifically wrong with how a simple indentation was made.

But I see what you mean by a more realistic type slit.

    8. I dont know if I'm answering to asked questions but my Aurora has pubic hair.

More pics by MiniVega here and here

When I ordered her, I was just in love with her face but I never saw any pics of the body before to received it at home.
When I discover B&G body, I was amazed... I love her body curves. :aheartbea
It's really a beautifull body contrary to my DOT body. I suddenly saw that the DOT body was so crude next to the B&G body.

I decided to make the body blush of my B&G Aurora and I must admit that when I contacted MiniVega to commission her for the body blushing, I was very embarrased. :sweat
Because I asked her if it was possible to have pubic hair on my doll. I was affraid about her reaction (maybe would she think that I am strange or a pervert).

When I posted the first pics of my doll on Matériel Céleste (a french doll forum), I was very worried about people reactions but I only received positive feedbacks :)

Finally, in my opinion, it's more strange to have very mature dolls bodies with this ridiculous line as genitalia lips.
I just sold my DOT E-An and I will received a new BJD (spiritdoll daffodil), and I know that I will ask for pubic hair for her too. :)
It's obvious. My Aurora is more realistic with it. She's less a toy and more and artdoll. :aheartbea

But, even if I like to have a more realistic doll, I would not add a clitoris or detailled lips. Pubic hair is sufficient for me.

    9. Oh, I'm sure some people would like to see an "outtie" type of vulva where the inner labia protrude a bit but I think it would be so simple to make the "innie" type that it's a bit silly not to do it properly and people are just a little peeved at it.

Personally I would love to see an option for a well sculpted "outtie" type as I don't think it would be either too delicate nor a hindrance to clothing.

    10. I like that, Sandra. Thanks for sharing your pic. It's realistic-looking and not overdone and gives the impression of a mature body.

    11. Thanks a lot :)
It was the effect I was looking for :aheartbea

    12. The weirdest thing about doll vaginas that I don't like is how...forward I guess?... they place them. It often seems to me like you see too much of the line from the front, and it makes it look like the vagina is sort of curving upward. Not all of them are like that, but there are a few I've seen that are. I think the vagina is a beautiful, fabulous thing and I love that bjd artists are not afraid of it or afraid to include it in a female doll. I blush my girl's vagina so it has a soft, pinkish look to it. I don't have much of a feeling one way or another about pubic hair though.

    13. I like my males with a penis, regardless of how it looks and my females 'genderless' at least where the vagina is concerned, i would rather there be nothing there than a crude slit or a detailed vag. I think vaginas are disgusting, unclean (no matter how you wash it) and other than for child birth, useless. Im a woman and I think that <_<

    14. Seems kind of unhealthy to have THAT much hatred for female genitalia, but that's just a totally off topic opinion of mine.

Anyway, Sandra: Your doll is BEAUTIFUL. When my MSD girl gets here, I intend to give her some blushing to make her more realistic and the way your girl is done is pretty much exactly how I want mine to look.

And another off topic thing, I don't know why but it really bothers me that this thread says "Doll vaginas", it should be "Doll vulvas" because if you can see your doll's vagina...that's pretty weird, yo.

      ITT: Disturbing amounts of misogyny.

    15. That's a pretty offensive thing to say about a natural body part that about 50% of the world owns. I get that you are not fond of them, but that's a very harsh statement and probably one that shouldn't be shared quite so openly. A simple 'I don't like looking at them' would have sufficed.

    16. Ditto, lots of misogyny going around... |D

    17. ...wow. I just... I feel like whatever society resulted in that attitude owes you an apology.

<-Posted back on page 5 or 6, which is as far as I read before jumping in. Sorry.

If this is the case, why have genitals at all? Your male dolls can have a lumpy equivalent of the half-arsed slit 90% of girl dolls boast. The issue I have is with the inequality of detail. Sure, people can say "Boy parts are external, and girl parts are internal," but that's not an excuse. Look at any significant number of human vaginas and you'll see that there is plenty of room for detail, even when standing. I don't buy the structural integrity argument, either, because I'm not asking for labia hanging down to her knees. I'm asking for a suggestion of the folds and creases of the vagina in a standing position... not the single slit that I've never once seen on a human female.

Here's my issue. Recently, with the onslaught of BIG boy dolls with BIG and DETAILED penises, we have yet to reach an appropriate counterpart in the women. Idealian has pubic hair and even a scrotum. Even the SOOM Megagem has greater detail in the phallus. The EID female has the same slit that adorns the pubis of almost every other female doll ever. Megagem and Idealian have no female counterparts yet, but is it so pessimistic of me to believe that if they ever do, the females will suffer a similar lack of attention to the privates? No, I don't think so. All of the realism in that region of female doll sculpts that I have seen has been added by the owner (except for the one notable exception of the 60cm Narae). While I respect that modification is part of the hobby, how is it that female doll owners find themselves having to add to reach the level of detail which male doll owners already enjoy?

All I want is equal attention across sexes. The female body is beautiful, in all of its shapes. We have several different interpretations of breasts, why can we not have variety and diversity among our lady dolls' privates? As an avid collector of female dolls, I want my girls to have genitalia that they would be proud to show to the camera, rather than a sculptor's afterthought.

If you read the entire first post, the OP actually states the difference between a vagina and a vulva. Some people wouldn't recognize the word vulva.

    18. I'm personally all for this! the Human body is beautiful, and I would love to see more detailed vulvas.

    19. Pazuzu: I can totally understand where you're coming from, male dolls for the most part do have more detail down below than their female counter parts but I'm a little lost as to how or rather what detail you'd like to see for the female dolls to even that up. I mean as was discussed a few pages back, unless a woman has larger labia minora, female genitals in their 'resting' state (i.e. not aroused or with the woman's legs spread to expose more) isn't really all that much more than a 'slit' anyway, yes it has more detail than most dolls because obviously we're talking about two lips of skin that meet so there's some detail there but still... not all that much is visible anyway.
All that said, the vast majority of male dolls I've personally owned have little more than a sausage shaped blob of resin for genitals anyway, some have a slight hint of scrotum going on but only enough to give a suggestion of the shape if they where to wear super-tight pants. Super detailed genitals on male dolls really seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

    20. You know how there's diversity among doll navels? Some are innies, some are outies, some are just a poke in the resin while others have very tiny sculpted creases in the resin? That's the sort of thing I'd like to see in doll vulvas. Sure, some will still be just a slit, but others might have a bit of a bulge around the slit to indicate lips that don't fold neatly over the inner parts, or even some delicate creases/folds in the outer labia because not every woman's vulva lies smoothly when "at rest." I don't understand how, if such attention can be paid to a navel, such detail can't be given to the nether region as well. I'd also like to see a doll with a more rounded pubic mound and lower belly, rather than merely sloping straight down to the slit.

There's so much that isn't represented at all, and while I realize that many male dolls have little more than the general shape of a penis, I would really like to see one or two female body sculpts with the level of detail given Idealian and Megagem genetalia. It wouldn't be fair to sculpt every female doll with greatly detailed lady parts, but it would be nice to see one or two opportunities for those of us who do care about what our dolls look like under their panties.
