1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

A place to keep your dolls......?

Mar 26, 2010

    1. I got those big semi-transparent plastic boxes w/ lids and wheels. They are in a corner of my bedroom next to the window but the sun doesn't reach them so it's safe for Miyoubi to lounge around on. Most of the time she's in one of the boxes but at times I pose her on top.

    2. For the moment, my dolls are on my ikea furniture, but soon i will make them on a dollhouse that i'm going to build!

    3. That is too funny! My mother bought an EXPEDIT book shelf for her house and now I was thinking about getting a couple for my new place so my scrapbooking and doll clothing can be organized. XD. Small world!

    4. I admit Ren lives wherever I happen to have sat her last. I mean, sure, she spends a lot of time in my bedroom, but then she also will lay on my couch downstairs or in the dining room when I've got the sewing machine set up in there...

Someday I'd love to make her a little hanging bed/nest thing to hang in my room, but that's going to wait for a while.

    5. The (ever-growing herd of) tinies live in a glass-front book case for the moment, though I'm planning on building them a proper dollhouse once my kids are old enough to not mess with them. My lonely SD13 sits on the mantle in our living room. So far no one has commented on her, but I'm sure she gets noticed. I wanted to keep her on a doll sofa in our bedroom, but my husband said he wouldn't be able to sleep with her staring at him. The lesson I took away from that: always spring for the sleep head. :)

    6. In the meantime, I let him stay first on his box. His box is located on my bookshelf and i even placed a plastic cover for him. (My house is under renovation :( ) I'm still planning to get a glass case for him and a new place :)

    7. Mine just recently got a place of their very own. :D the top shelf of my new bookshelf, before they just had to go wherever there was room. they used to be on top of my dresser till i got a fishtank and put it up there, i dont want them by the water lol.

    8. Mine lives on my pillow, or on the dresser. I keep meaning to make her a little somewhere special, but have never had the time. One day though... :)

    9. My dolls stay in my room most of the time. On the bed, the chair, the desk, on top of the tv. Everywhere. Unless I decide I want some buddies to hang out with while watching movies or playing videogames(XD because Im one of those crazy people who treats their dolls like actuall people). Then they're all over my living room. I never take them anywhere else in my house.

    10. Darn things are all over the house, literally. In every room except the bathrooms. And my son's room. No other room is safe. Even the kitchen. Not to worry, it's a really big kitchen, our computer desk is in there.

    11. I've always wanted to create a doll corner complete with furniture but I just don't have the money or space (my mom would probably kill me for both reasons too =_=). I have also thought of getting beds for my dolls but I have TOO many for that now ^^;;

I just keep them sitting or posed on my desk now:)

    12. I have a very pretty shelf that looks kinda lie a balcony in a castle...

    13. The question posted was "How do folks display their dolls?"
This was a problem that I had for many years. I had an extra bedrooms with shelves, Dolls on beds, Dolls in a closet etc. I was always frustrated with this problem.
I finally realized..... I need a room just for my dolls!
      The solution?? A DOLL GALLERY!
Yes, I had a doll gallery added to our home.
      This is my sanctuary!
Now, my doll display problems are over.

    14. The above pictures are of the Right side of the room.
I am planning to remove the Tonners', Gene's etc. and fill them with BJD's .
Let me know what you think of my solution to Displaying my Dolls!

    15. For those of us who do not have access to the ultimate fantasy of a whole entire room just dedicated to dolls... (Gawd, though, Manscan, that is a beautiful beautiful thing... <3)

I live in a 1-bedroom apartment, and thanks to Ikea, 30 dolls live comfortably in one room of it. This is my living-room, so it still needs room for life in there-- I have to live in it too!-- and I have a bazillion books, a buttload of music, and piles of weird art stuff that all needs to fit in here too. The majority of my doll collection is 60cm+ tall; the BESTA series of shelving-unit is deep enough for long SD17 legs, & wide enough for three EIDs together. Ikea is my co-pilot. ^_^

Here's a sample of the marvelous high-rise doll condominiums:

Light & dust are blocked by drapes, that just drop down over it all while I'm at work. When I'm home, all the drapes tie back to let me enjoy my crew.

And here's a tour of the living room if you want. It's the same link as my sig. I'm lazy. :)

    16. That is cool JennyNemisis, don't you love the Ikea and all their shelving madness?

Manscan, I often dream of the "doll room" however I also like having them just around.

    17. We had this computer cabinet with doors... and when I gave up my desktop computer for a new Mac it was wide open to use as a dolly cabinet! My girls go where then monitor would and I have several shelves and sections to put their stuff in. Also the doors have cork on the inside for me to post the next sewing or story ideas I have for them! It's the perfect size and the doors keep out the sunlight!

    18. Jennynemesis: You have one of the nicest collections of BJD's that I have ever seen!! I think all your dolls are incredible.
I was wondering where you got all the furniture in your displays? I would love to know your secret?

    19. Hehe, thanks! :blush But it's no secret - good 1:3 couches come from VolksUSA or Dollmore. The shipping-cost is brutal, but it's a good investment for your lovelies.

Yes Stella, I don't know what we slobs did before IKEA came to America. Oh wait, now I remember.... milk crates! XD

In the interest of full disclosure: Before I acquired that last round of Dollmore sofas, at least 5 of those tall male dolls were sitting on empty Crate & Barrel pillar-candle boxes & shippers from Wine.com. In a pinch, wine/candle boxes make great benches: long enough to seat three SD13s/16s, and high enough for SD13 legs (though a little short for 70cms).
