1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

A place to keep your dolls......?

Mar 26, 2010

    1. I treat my doll like a little person, I made a bed for her (still in the process of sewing some things for it) and when she feels like getting out of bed, I dress her up and I take her places with me. Does that sound weird?

    2. I don't have a lot of room anywhere in my house, more so in my bedroom. So my dolls tend to chill on a shelving unit in our dining/living area next to my mother's angel figures...I don't think she enjoys that much  I hope to buy some sort of wall-mounted shelving unit to put in my room to keep them on, but that said, I don't spend much time at home. And when I am here, I'm always downstairs, so its more convenient for me that they stay where they are now...

    3. Hehhehehe, this is a fun thread :)

My dolls own my house. I have kids, but the dolls own the kids, and the husband too. I have doll furniture for them, and there are shelves they are supposed to be on, but just try to get my big boy off my sofa!! He enjoys watching tv in my spot. (I think he just likes being held the most)
My other big boy tries to fight for the tv hotspot, while the girls wander about and be careful opening any cupboards, or doors, you're likely to find small ones playing in there. Of the 12 currently in my home, all of them are scattered about, enjoying their daily life. Like some others have mentioned, even the bed is not off limits, so sometimes Aiden will crawl in and snuggle. Sometimes I feel like I'm not paying rent for myself or my family, it's for my dolls. - And worth every penny :aheartbea

    4. This is something I have to think about now, as I'm moving from my own apartment back across the ocean to my parents' house (temporarily, anyways, until I have a job and a place), which means less space and a bunch of pets and people. I started getting BJDs without pets, so I'm going to have to get used to that . . . I probably won't be able to get all of their boxes home with me, either, so I think they're going to end up in secure rubber bins or something until I develop a viable plan.

    5. Hmm I live in an apartment so its definetly smaller than a house. Lol I don't have my doll fully complete yet so he lives in my nightstand. -_- He gets no dust on him nor any light and though he doesn't get as much attention because hes not completed I tend to look at him now and then. I have a new place for him in room next to my dresser or in my walk in closet for when hes completed. The living room can get dusty because you move around there the most. Well I do.. so maybe the bedroom? or a spare room.

    6. When not in her box, Lydia has her own corner of the living room. Occasionally you will find her on the dresser or hutch. I was going to get a case, but all I could think of, was seeing her beating on the glass saying "Let me out!":o

    7. I used to just let all my dolls sit in their boxes until I was ready for taking them out...but recently I got a new desk so I'm displaying them on it.

It's out of the sunlight and in a corner, so I'm sure they're safe.

But, I try to keep them in the dark as much as possible, I'm really afraid of them yellowing.

    8. I have a little corner of a book shelf in my room I keep my dolls on, granted I only have two. Even still just in case I gave them a squishy pillow and a curtain (yellowing worries me) and by curtain I mean a bandanna. XD

    9. Currently she sets up on my mantle over the (non-working) fireplace.

    10. I plan to keep mine in the jumbo sized doll house my mom built for me as a child. It is out of direct sunlight, but it isn't tall enough for them to stand in unless they are "Barbie" size. I also have a space in a book shelf that would work.

    11. My dolls either sit on my desk or wherever I am atm. I cleaned out a drawer on the desk and made them a little bed that they sleep in<3 My bed is too small for them to share ^.^"

    12. This sounds like a good thread for some feedback! I have five girls, and so far they all live in their boxes. However, I'm moving to a place where I can finally have them on display! I was thinking about buying a glass-front linen cabinet from Ikea to display them in, but I realize this might expose them to more sunlight than if they were to be stored in some shelves in a closet. But then I wouldn't be able to display them as freely! So I'm wondering, has anyone found any particularly bad yellowing from dolls being in a glass front cabinet (all the other sides are solid wood, the front is just glass doors)?? Has anyone found frosted glass helps prevent some of that sunlight better? Or perhaps a UV resistant film like they have for car windows that could be adhered to the glass? I'm super interested to hear what people experience in the different homes they have for their dolls :D

    13. I have two, non-BJDs that can go anywhere since they're so small, and usually sit on my nightstand. But now that I'm getting an MSD-sized doll, I'm thinking she'll go onto one of my book shelves. Just somewhere high enough she won't fall, and that I'll see her.

    14. @Allison Wonder - So precious... That big hairy doll on the left looks a little nuts though, watch out for him. ;)

      @Manscan
      - Wow. Just Wow. *_*

My dolls live in my studio on a good old ikea bookcase, for now. Along with all my other stuff (alchemy, animal skulls, axolotl) which my girlfriend has deemed 'creepy' and thus exiled from the remainder of the house. :|

Someday I will build the dolls a proper mise-en-scene for photography purposes... probably once I refinish the studio to have wraparound cabinet workspaces.

    15. My bed-safe,soft and protected from the sun.

    16. My doll sleep in his original box 'cos I don't want sunlight to destroy resin.
But many times my doll will sleep on my bed with all of my doll. ^^"
I feel happy to see his face before go to sleep.

    17. I usually keep my doll in the livingroom sitting on a bookshelf in front of the books.
When she's not there, she's either perched on the coffee table or in the bedroom on her bed, which sits on top of my dresser.

    18. my stand in the corner of my room(my room is in the basement). i have a cat, but he doesn't pay any attention to them which is fortunate. i find myself bringing them upstairs often, but by the end of the day they're back in my room with me.

    19. My dolls sit on a shelf in hubby's bookcase with a black "curtain"(fabric) velcroed to cover that particular shelf since the room and only window in it faces sunset

    20. I already have a little space for my bjd that I'm saving up for.
It's right about my bed on my headboard. It has little shelves in it but he's to big for them so he's going on top.
He's going to have a bed and a place for all his little accessories.
I was just thinking a few days ago that it'd be funny if he flopped over onto the pillow next to me to sleep XD
