1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Do you have a theme to your collection? I think I listed some of the more popular aesthetics. At least from what I've noticed here and on insta. I've seen some beautiful cohesive collections! Just noesy to see what's popular :)

My collection is pretty much half fantasy, half modern day.

    2. In terms of numbers, I have mostly fantasy dolls. But I like a diversity of styles, as I don't have a set cast of OCs that have to all match... and often I will change the look of a doll into different styles, or get a doll purely because I like the sculpt or fullset.

    3. I love Fantasy books, movies, short stories etc. However, fantasy type dolls NEVER last at my house, but surprisingly Fairy Tale type dolls do (think Disney princess, animal type dolls). I enjoy seeing what people do with the Sci-fi type dolls but know that is not something that would last around here either. I mostly end up in the Regency period for how I like my dolls looking, but then have the occasional Gothic doll, casual child-like doll looks. My collection is not cohesive at all.

    4. I voted for color, because everyone in my collection has a color theme.
But I think the most cohesive thing about my collection is that everyone is smiling :whee: With only one exception, but I imagine her being the type of girl who says "this is my happy face :|"

    5. My collection is a lot of fantasy ideas in modern settings and styles. I have witches and demons but I don’t tend to do like high fantasy Tolkien esque outfits or designs for them - those designs just don’t speak to me. Stylistically every doll has their own modern fashion style (i.e. Lolita, street wear, pastel goth, business casual). And all my dolls belong to the same world and time period so they have that theme connecting them and helping them look a bit more cohesive

    6. I love fantasy, goth and antique looking clothes. They all blend together for me.

    7. Two-thirds of my collection are fantasy dolls, as are the several I have on pre-order. I have elves, fairies, a doll with bird wings, a Dollzone Wendy with the sea-creature human head on a human body, a demon, and others. There are also human dolls who are mages or have special powers. I tend to dress them in a mix of modern and vintage styles, with the occasional fantasy outfit. I'd like to make more fantasy clothes for many of my dolls to better suit their characters.

    8. I have both human and fantasy dolls but I dress them all in either modern or gothic styles. That's just what I like best.

    9. Mine are mostly dressed modern casual. My dolls are all children and I dream of something like Neverland, where they are all in a fantasy wilderness style or animal costumes but modern styles are more accessible to me since I don’t sew. I love colorful outfits but have a few in neutrals or sad beige, lol!

    10. My dolls are all in a single family/storyline, so I love dressing them all in the same fashion. They wear Japanese kimono most of the time - I enjoy the look of East Asian traditional clothing, and I have a real thing for BJDs in kimono and hakama. (But I'm not as interested in Chinese hanfu or Korean hanbok, for some reason...)

I do give them modern clothing every so often, just for a change of fashion. I have an ambition of eventually putting them all into cyberpunk/futuristic sci-fi outfits, but that's dependent on me getting better at sewing, and finding the right clothes to buy/preorder. So it's an ambition right now and not going to happen for a while!

    12. I had to pick four options. Vintage, Modern, Goth/punk/emo/dark and Color! Here's how my current crew breaks down more specifically:

-Jussi, Cooper, Aapo, Jarppi, Opaline, Harriet, Ezra, Wilhelm: goth/metal/rock/emo/dark

      -Pepper: Modern/punk skater

-Bren: Depends on the day. Sweats and tank on lazy days, skater for his career, goth/rock for dressing up

-Jouko, Nate, Adam, Charlie, Jamie, Cassie: modern casual

-Bambi & Monroe: vintage 80s style! Bambi is Barbie themed, Monroe is glam rock inspired

-Lumi: boho artist with a million layers of clothes and jewelry

      -Trystan: vintage/hipster

      -Taylor: Modern/vintage grunge

    14. I only have two dolls and both are based on pre-existing characters so they'll mainly adopt the styles of their respective worlds, one being fantasy and the other having a modern fashion style. But! I may mix styles between them as I begin to sew more things :3nodding: I do want to make some fancy kimono and Chinese style clothes for them at some point just because I enjoy those :chibi

    15. My crew are solidly in the "a little of everything" crowd, though my standard default style for them tends towards sort of a quasi-historical/mildly-fantasy Asian look.

    16. All of the BJD that I have based on OCs are vampires, so I dress them in all black all the time. The rest are fan art, based mostly on Japanese video games or anime, which also tend to be from darker themed licenses, so I guess dark would be the default -- I myself dress in all black all the time since I could barely form a sentence, because I am a huge creepy-old-weirdo and I want my dolls to have a similar air (of creepy, not of ancient old fart!). 17. I tried families, themes and just one company and it never lasted. Now I just collect what I love as selling is harder and harder to do.

    18. I have a mix of styles.
My main collection are 1/4-sized, all humans with contemporary clothes, but they each have their own style based on character. So they are cohesive in the sense that they are all the same scale and looks like they belong to the same world when they are all posed together.
But I have historical and fantasy outfits for some of them as well.
My tinies are mostly just mannequins, they don't have a fixed style. I just put them in whatever makes sense at the time.
And here are a few fantasy creature dolls in my collection as well.

    19. All mine are contemporary humans - I don't really shell characters so there is not a great amount of nuance to it haha. They all dress somewhat fancier than jeans and sneakers (oh to be a doll with no discomfort!) - I love sewing a lot so I like dressing them in what I'd find too much of a bother to wear or make for myself *stares at the pile of organza in the corner*.

    20. My resin and vinyl dolls mostly wear everyday modern dress. I joke that my dolls are always the most boring ones at a meetup. XD A few of my characters are Japanese, they will sometimes wear yukata or similar. I have a few elves too, though they are not high elves and rarely wear anything fancy. I have one girl who loves Lolita wear and super cute outfits. My rock band members sometimes wear clothes a little out of the ordinary for performance. Plus anyone can be pressed to wear cosplay or fancy outfits for meetups or conventions (some under protest).
