A Struggle with Clothes

Sep 17, 2012

    1. yeah all the time, it takes me at least 20-30 minutes to dress Nadeko in her Dollheart set
unfortunately she doesn't fit in her box with it on so I now keep her in the simple dress she came with all the time unless we're going out because of me not wanting to take so much time to dress her :sweat
I love Dollheart clothes but I wish there was a faster/easier way to put them on

    2. GLOVES!

I hate getting my boy's gloves on and off, I imagine that when he gets the rest of his outfit that goes with the gloves then I'm just gonna leave them on indefinitely!

    3. Tying tiny ties! It took me over 30 minutes + video tutorial to tie one on a MSD!
I now keep it tied and remove the head when I have to :P

    4. I don't like changing my dolls' clothes for this exact reason, hahah. What with managing the wig--sometimes removing the head or hands... I don't like touching the resin. I'm too worried to dirty it. So, i usually find a clothing combo I like on a doll, and LEAVE IT UNTIL I BUY THEM SOMETHING ELSE. oTL

    5. I have some clothes that are sort of hard to put on. I'm not really sure it's the clothes' fault though. I think it's the body. I have to take Souji's...uh, dong...off before I can close his pants.

      ;(

    6. Usually if I have to struggle to get it on, they don't wear it, and I end up stashing it in a box until I sell a bunch of clothing together. I have enough problems dressing myself in layers and getting things that fit. I don't want to recreate it on my dolls. :3

    7. I swear sometimes, my boys got a life of their own - and mind of their own - and simply don't WANT to wear certain clothes! *lol* Nah, seriously, sometimes it's a real struggle to get them into certain clothes but since I only re-dress my SDs often (well, more often than the others), it's not all THAT bad. Not even tying ties.

    8. Complicated or delicate outfits only get worn for photo shoots or doll meets. Most of the time my dolls are dressed in simple t-shirts and pants. They aren't really on display so no reason to keep them all fancy.

    9. I bought this set without knowing that the back of the bodice was lace-up ... with teensy cloth holes ... and a thick flimsy ribbon. :| Needless to say, it was a bit frayed by the time I got it laced and tied and my Amber has been wearing it for about four months straight. I've recut the ends of the ribbon and treated them with some anti-frying glue, but she'll probably be wearing it until I get another drop-dead gorgeous set to put her in.

    10. Well I never had much problems except that I worry about streching out the fabric too much -_-
Can't sew at all lol. Some of my dolls wear skinny jeans so yeah I have to remove their feet before I can put on the pants. LOL
My hands get sweaty fast so yeah imagine the fun I'm having trying to put their pants on.

    11. Clothes are -always- a pain around here.... I think the most difficult right now is my JID kids, but that is partially my fault... As a Hols gift this year, I made a pair of leather trousers and a leather jerkin for the SO's Ryan... Getting those pants on takes patience, determination, and a small miracle. They look -fabulous- on his legs, nearly painted on and flared out at the bottom, but had to be made large in the hips and around the waist just so he could actually -sit down- without pulling them off. (Iplehouse; making you pull your hair out since-)

My Dearmine Blue Rose Priscilla wore her fullset outfit all of once for about an hour so I could take pictures... I loved the outfit in the company photos- figured I'd never take her out of it, but then once we got her home and put it all together, it just seemed 'wrong' somehow... The corset doesn't fit quite like it should and the lace bits never fall correctly... In the end I gave up and she's been wearing her 'geek chic' combo of a Warcraft themed Tee, combat boots, blue/black stockings and the BlueRose set's skirt & underwear ever since. I can't honestly imagine her wearing anything else at this point, because it just seems to work with her personality so well.

Blair is a nightmare all to his own, a nightmare known as 'Layering' - That boy can't simply wear one thing- No, he needs stockings, leggings, layered mini-skirt, belted sweaterdress and a vest, and that's only ONE of his outfits... The poor thing has been turned and twisted and fought with every which way to acomplish his particular personal style, and he can't seem to be happy staying in any one thing for very long...

The other kids seem to vary- sometimes I can't imagine changing their outfit because it's just what it should be, and sometimes I can't settle on anything longer than a few hours. I don't own any DH outfits myself just yet, but even knowing how vicious they can be with their tiny buttons and attention to detail, I know I'll be doomed to fight with them eventually.

    12. Always.

Shoes are usually hard. Girl shoes in particular. I wish the would make snap-ons instead of using the mechanism one would use for a belt. My boy has rubber shoos that can be slipped on or I just need to tie the shoelace and it's over.

Since I don't like removing the head I have a hard time putting on tops.

JACKETS are the hardest, especially if there's something under the jacket. It makes it so hard for my kids to move.

    13. I don't have a lot of doll-clothing issues (mainly because my dolls don't wear a lot of clothes, hurhur) but I have a pair of Luts boots I got 3 years ago that I suspect is quarter of an inch too small for the doll I bought them for, because even if they are mostly lace-up and whatnot it still takes effin' forever to wiggle the foot into the remaining part of the shoe... and don't get me started on attempting to pull them off again, I feared the elastics would snap and the foot would come loose the first time I tried it. c~(- A -'' )

    14. These rocking horse shoes that tie on like ballet shoes is really difficult to tie so it doesn't slide back down off her leg.

Niccolo's suit is difficult. It is on the very cusp of what fits him... He wears his jacket all the time for lack of other clothes and it is annoying to put on.

    15. My newest boy has yet to give me trouble besides how tight his joints are. His only problem with clothes is...His pants are continously slipping down. I refuse to let him go naked.

    16. I confess-- I do that too with some of my more infuriating necklaces/ collars/ ties, either keep it fastened or pre-fasten it, then slip it over the headless neck. Taking the head off is just WAY easier than getting something tiny fastened at the back of the neck! My nerves, and my fingernails, appreciate the shortcut.

    17. Oh man yes. Back when I still had my Delf Shiwoo I had been given a really elaborate gothic outfit for him as a birthday present from a doll friend. It was hell to get on him. The shirt had long ruffly cuffs that went over his hands and trying to get them on with the long over coat was next to impossible. Once I got that outfit on I never took it off, it was such a pain.

    18. i don't really have this problem since i make my own doll clothes & they are all open in the back... but i struggle to put on shoes. especially boots, even with the zipper in the back they are a pain to put on. ><
