1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

ABJD Collectors 55 Years Old and Older

Aug 27, 2012

    1. oops... double post!

    2. My parents weren't into having a lot of stuff, even though they were both around during the Depression. My sister has more stuff, but is MUCH better at purging than I am. I only purge when forced to during moves... and the last time I just wimped out an now have a storage unit--which I swore I'd never do! AGH.

Having places and people to dump... er... donate item to, would help. Unfortunately, I don't have many connections that way. I used to dump my paperbacks at a used book store owned by a friend--until they asked me to stop because they had more books than they could store! (I resorted to making a few more dumps at night, in the dark! Now, I'm happily buying a bazillion books on Kindle.)

I feel I have too many dolls, but I love them all and can't envision downsizing. I can get rid of TONS of other things first. And they all have faceups and are terribly spoiled... although wait--I still need to finish one faceup and maybe redo another...

I could happily stop buying dolls now... BUT... I do fear seeing new dolls that I MUST have. They seem to keep making things that are aimed totally at me! *_*

    3. I can't envision downsizing either; I've only just this summer finished off my wishlist (although most of them haven't arrived yet). I have plenty of room for dolls if I can just divest myself of all this other stuff I have, or at least get some of it organized and into storage and findable when I need it.

Speaking of dolls arriving, the chicken girl and my new Impldoll Aigne are all set to get here this week. I may have to just stop cleaning house for a while and paint them. I bought Aigne a Dollheart outfit at the doll convention this summer that cost almost as much as she did. (crazy) Val Zeitler designed it for the Haute Doll Flapper girl but I like Aigne's face much better, so I didn't buy the exclusive doll. It's a very cute 1920's swimming outfit, complete with wig and shoes. Considering it has a lot of pieces, it's not too bad, I guess. If we end up making the doll convention here a yearly event, I shall have to take on more freelance jobs to pay for doll clothes. There were just so many wonderful and tempting things to buy.

    4. We live for our Resin Overlords, eh?

    5. Don't you know it :).

    6. Yep.

My dolls are arriving today!! I think I'll clean off my desk and hunt for my doll painting stuff. My bedroom is topsy-turvy because I had to move all the furniture around and empty some bookcases so the cable guy (not that one) could install a new cable in that room. I did it in a hurry and have stacks of books all over my living room, as well as plastic bins everywhere, one of which has my paints contained in it. I need a warehouse. Also a housekeeper. If the resin overlords control us, they could at least help with the housework.

    7. Exactly! Lazy little so-and-sos around my house... if only they'd do housework, I'd never have to hire another cleaning service ever again! **shakes fist Scarlett O'Hara style**

    8. Lol! I wish. No cleaning service in their right mind would agree to tackle my clutter, for any price.

Chicken Girl (I'm calling her "Chicklet") has arrived, but I was surprised to see when I opened the package that she is a he. After I opened the extras that came with him, I found that Impldoll also sent a girl lower torso. Very thoughtful of them. Makes me wonder what they intend for me to do with the extra parts; I suspect darker motives, like enticing me to order some more extra parts so I can have a rooster boy.

Aigne is here also. I am very pleased with her; she has lovely heavy resin and stands like a rock, and the DH outfit I bought her fits perfectly, except for the wig, which is too big. I don't mind, though because the Impl wig I bought for her is perfect. I'll post her photo after I paint her. I think I'm too unorganized to do it today, but maybe tomorrow.

    9. They won't even put away their own things! They leave clothes and wigs scattered everywhere.

Linakauno, congrats on Chicklet. You could end up with a whole barnyard!

    10. I see that Impldoll has a new girl the same size as Trista. Do you think they would let us put that head on the Trista fawn body?

    11. I don't know why not. They seem to be very accommodating. I'm impressed with them as a company because they didn't have any problem selling me exactly the combination of heads and bodies I wanted.

    12. I've never bought from them, but I would like that particular doll. Second after a Claude. I find I really must have Claude so I'm going to start saving up for him - once I pay off the ones I've already bought. Sigh! Sometimes I like to imagine I win the lottery and can buy any doll (and clothes and shoes and wigs) I want. Just for one day maybe. Cheryl

    13. Ok, I'll bite: who's Claude?

    14. Oh, right. Duh. Should have known...I just bought Elchanan on the CDS last month with some bonus $$ I got unexpectedly. Huge guy, mucho dinero to shell out all at once. He's the last one, though, I swear. It's the nose that did it for me. He will be naked for a while, probably, when he finally arrives, but that's not all bad. ;)

    15. Oh, yes! It's all an evil conspiracy... It starts with innocent extra head, then other body parts... and the next thing you know you have doubled your number of dolls!!!! :XD:

I keep telling myself that if I do just SOME cleaning and organizing, I can actually get a professional in once in a while to help keep it going. But right now, it looks like a big explosion of things everywhere--so no one in their right mind would want to try and clean my house, either! :doh

    16. Yeah, I do have a thing for noses myself. If they have a big nose, they get special consideration. Cheryl

    17. linakauno congratulations on Chicklet's arrival!! I simply must have her too **adds chicken girl to the burgeoning wish list**

    18. Ye gods, stop me before I buy again. Someone at the doll convention had a Batchix machina that was just to die for. I absolutely loved her, but unfortunately, they're not in production just now, however... now I have fallen for one of the Souloid girls. I have to stop looking at doll websites.

    19. Oh, no, you're going down with the rest of us! Case in point -- you'd think after finally getting my Souldoll girl that I'd be content for some time to come. But no, I just had to troll Ebay last week and spotted this poor forlorn little creature and immediately felt obligated to rescue her:

She's a Doll Leaves Mint; a sculpt I'd been fancying for a while. Didn't cost me near as much as buying new, & she now has a good home; her 3rd -- can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to keep her, she's so cute!
