1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Alternatives to doll carriers?

May 28, 2008

    1. I made a doll carrier myself to my first abjd in MSD size OwO

      It is really good OwO
I just took some fabric I had at home, and some other small things and made this OwO took 2-3 hours or something OwO

    2. I have a violin case on its way which I'm going to convert to a dollcarrier.

In the past though I have also used my rolling suitcase, my large Hello Kitty handbag, and a long bag for knitting needles.

    3. HOLY CRAP another doll person in portsmouth!?!?!?! Where do you live??

I'm bidding on an antique violin case on eBay, where'd you get yours?

    4. I'm getting mine from EBAY too, I've looked around charity shops carboots and the like but founf nothing so ebay was my last resort really ^^. I want an old style case you see, not one of the modern coloured fabric coated types.

And wow another Portsmouth person, how cool is that! I don't love in the city, but I'm pretty close (les then an hour by bus) I like in havant, West Leigh to be exact.

    5. I added you to my MSN :D
Thats exactly what I wanted, a nice old case, those cloth ones are rubbish.
I used to live in Leigh Park when I was a kid, I'm in North End now :x
      Do you work in Portsmouth?

    6. I've adapted a violin case too, but that's only good for one doll. I bought this bag for a fiver off ebay, and love it, cos I can fit three SD size dolls in it safely, ( and a Tiny if I want):

    7. @Mich: 3 SD's in one bag?? What search terms did you use to find this on ebay, if I might ask?

    8. Anyone have a suggestion on a bag that can carry two 70 cm dolls and a Bobobie? I'd hate to have to buy two bags for them D:

    9. I bought a 24" x 12" x 12" round sports duffel bag. Used some hard cardboard to reinforce the sides and bottom and padded it with a sheet of soft foam.

I can squeeze my 60 cm girl and 70cm boy comfortably inside (he has to bend his knees tho...) and with enough room for their pillows, clothes, shoes and wigs.

It's not too big or awkward to carry around and does not attract unwanted attention.

Total Cost: $ 7.50 (bag), plus, lets say $ 1-2 for the padding materials I found lying around the house.

      I'll post pictures soon ^^

    10. Just an update on this. I got my violin case (This one for anyone who's interested: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=280231728283&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=018)

I've stripped it down and already have started modding it. I am happy to say that even though I don't think its a full size violin case, it will fit my MSD dolls and also my 60cm dollfie dreams too.

I'm not the type of person to carry or take out multiple dolls, but I use public transport to get out and about so my bags often get squished, squashed and beaten about so I really wanted something sturdy and hardwearing. A violin case seemed about the most attractive option for me.

I'll put some pics up once I have finished the modding.

    11. in the UK I can certainly recommend hard bottomed tool kit carriers from screwfix direct or B and Q - amazingly strong dollbags that carry several doll. yes they aren't pretty but they have lots of pockets and do the job brilliantly!

    12. Baseball-bat carrier from the sporting store. Very long & tubular, and comes with strap. No padding or inside straps, though.

But seriously, if you carry your dolls around town a lot, I'd just recommend investing the $50 at Soom for one of those big Mecha Angel-sized carriers! It's a sound investment. They can carry TWO Mecha Angels at a time! Or four SD13s-- or two 70cms and two 60cms-- or a whole showroom full of Minis. They're also strongly constructed, and have tons of pockets & straps & zippers, as well as two kinds of handles.

If you can LIFT the bag once it's full of two 70s and a 60, then power to you. ^^ *ow ow ow*

    13. I totally forgot, I have a new carrier too, for those multiple doll trips. How dumb of me. It could easily fit 2 SD sized dolls, maybe three. It could fit 4 msd dolls, or a combination of both.

The bag is really boring and plain, but it does the job 100% so thats what counts for me.

I made a shoulder strap for it too.

    14. I carried Guy around with me in my bag for the first day I had him, but I took him out when we were in the stores in town. (I got some weird looks- one woman thought it was a baby! Yeah, a baby wrapped in bubble wrap and stuck in a silk pillow...) A messenger bag style purse works just right for a mini, even with pillows.

    15. I just went to my local music store today and bought a violin case:) Ill be messing with it tonight.

    16. @Maychana: You did a really awesome job on your bag :D Makes me want to try making one <3

Along with a lot of others, I would suggest a violin case as well~ I've been meaning to get one for this cause.

    17. Violin cases work great, another idea for MSD and Tinies is a trumpet case! :)

    18. Has anyone tried a yoga bag before? It looks like the right size for one dolly.

    19. I have heard of a lot of people using yoga bags with great success. Just make sure you are using one with a zipper and not draw strings.
