1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Alternatives to doll carriers?

May 28, 2008

    1. :) Ow thanks I should get me one!!

    2. I would love to try converting an old instrument case. I'm really tempted to stick my girl in my camcorder case once she gets here. Sadly, I'm not willing to totally unpack my camera (as everything's neatly organized in there) and KATA bags are fairly expensive, but exceptionally durable, nearly rainproof (I've never had wet equipment after biking in the rain), have straps and movable dividers, and are fairly discreet. The last being the reason I bought the case for my camcorder, I wanted to be able to carry it around my somewhat questionable city without raising attention.
A few pics I took of my camera bag, I'll post again if my MiniFee girl fits in it.

I don't know how easy it is to see the straps in these. I think the bag I own was around $80 with my camcorder, but I think this particular bag has been discontinued.

    3. Seriously try Goodwill! I found the coolest old violin case there... its really tempting to go back and get it for my upcoming boy

    4. I have an MSD. For him I use my laptop case. :0! It works really well but ith as to be a large laptop case but most laptops are large normally. :)

    5. I thought that was a good idea. But I've heard stories of thieves specifically targeting people and office workers with the laptop bags, both the carrying ones and the trolley ones. That thought was enough to put me off. I'd hate to have my dolls stolen just because someone thought it was some expensive and easy to sell laptop.

    6. Tin lunchboxes work great for YoSD XD
I took mine to a meet on sunday in a Planet of The Apes metal lunchbox.. Just put her pillows in there, curl her legs up in the foetal position and close the box!

    7. I went to the threft store today and found an old...OLD...trumpit case? It is not shaped like a trumpit....but it is....it has two compartments...I hope it can fit MSD sized dolls...

I also used to use a dog caring case....for yorkes and smaller dogs. My friend helped me pad it.

    8. What an excellent find

    9. I made my own bag out of some random scrap fabric (about 2/3 yard for outside, and 1/2 yard for lining), and some foam. It's great 'cause it will fit my SD 65cm. doll sitting down, and another one sitting down opposite, plus I can get one MSD in their laps.

I usually use the pillows they came with for extra padding, and I made some foam and flannel "mitts" for my dolls hands so they don't get broken (Darn those pointy fingers). :D

    10. I was using a roll-up garment bag that zips into a cylinder shape for my SD boy until my local Guitar Center got the coffin shaped guitar cases back in stock. The coffin case works really well because I can fit him, all his clothes and a good few accessories in it and it still looks pretty inconspicuous, for a giant coffin.

    11. Haha, I discovered this weekend that my new purse from Baby, the Stars Shine Bright can hold my mini and my tiny (as well as my wallet, phone, etc). It's not padded or anything but I think it may be the cutest "doll carrier" I've seen. XD

I do need to get a real carrier though, this doesn't really protect them from anything. It's nice in that I can carry them around without a huge doll bag when I'm wearing a cute outfit though. XD

    12. I might try a yoga bag. Once my Souldoll Hye arrives I'm going to have to transport her home without my parents seeing her. If I get a yoga bag and pad it so she is snug and secure, I could hide her in my wardrobe until they're out of the house and I can play with her properly!

    13. Yeah, I'm going to need to be finding a case for mine since I want to take him lots of places with me~

I have lots of bags, but most of the ones that are big enough don't close xD They're just open at the top. I saw that a tennis bag was suggested, and I play tennis, but I would never carry that bag around with me (it's way too big!).

    14. I used a yoga mat bag before I got my Dollmore carrier- the yoga bag worked great! Just the right size, and I was able to find one that opened along the length of the bag rather than at either end; I just put my dollies in there with a few pillows from their boxes and it worked perfectly. ^_^

    15. I have a Volks carrier that holds two SD's, but since my collection grew I needed a larger bag. So, my husband bought one of those rolling luggages and lined the inside with foam. It fits all 5 of my boys quite comfortably, nested on their sides with knees bent. I could probably squeeze a 6th in there if I needed to. :D

    16. I purchased itself a large red leather bag in a shop. It dearer in two times what carrying from place to place for dolls, but to my favourite in it very comfort.

    17. I use a modified over-the-shoulder purse with two zippers. :3

      I added extra padding.

    18. I have a "Bensimon" yoga bag for my SD bjd: it's just the good size!

    19. does anyone bother with carriers for yo sd or similar sized dolls, or do you just put them in any bag with their pillows and a face protector?
