It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Alternatives to doll carriers?

May 28, 2008

    1. I carry my dolls around in a scooter bag. You know those foldable... *can't find english word* scooter :P
Bought it at a recycle store for 1,75 euro's.
Two dolls fit, be it a bit snugly. My 65cm doll fits allright, but is a little bit on the big side.

    2. Do you mean a rolling suitcase sort of bag?

Or a bag for those scooters that most kids have these days?
I'm assuming you mean the second one.

I never knew they made bags for those!
      I'll look into it! :)

    3. if you're looking to carry it around for like everyday use then i recommend a normal bag, just put in some cushioning to make sure they're safe.

For travel i use a small suitcase that i can strap my dolls in and not have to worry about them. ^^ or, if you don't need it immedietly wait for a while and save up.
Dollmore has nice carrige bags that are padded.

      Good luck! ^^

    4. A bag for a yoga mat works well if you need something to carry one doll around for a day. Its almost the same size and shape as a doll bag from one of the companies. The biggest problem is finding one with hard sides. worst case senario, you can reinforce it with a firm plastic sheet or just use lots and lots of padding! here is one from Ebay. Just type in yoga mat bag in the search.

    5. I wanted to order from dollmore, but I sort of need it by April 3rd.
I may endup ordering ftom volks USA if I get desperate.

I was thinking of wrapping him between his pillows and putting him in my backpack...but I worry about someone slamming into me.

It happened last year when things were crowded.
I got shoved and pushed alot.

However this year the venue is much bigger.
I may endup putting him in my bag when I know it's safe, and take him out when I have to.

    6. Depending on how many dolls you've got to carry... I use a medium sized rolling suitcase with all the doll pillows I've gotten over the years lining the insides. I have fit Four SD sized dolls and four tinies inside with room in the outer pocket for my camera gear. Most come with an elastic seatbelt or two already installed.

    7. I was going to ask this myself lol.

Speaking of which, what about specific doll bags that could be found elsewhere? (like a vendor)

    8. When going to meets I use the trolly suitcase- it can comfortably fit quite a lot of dolls it it (2 SD's plus and Akando and a few ickle ones snuggled in) along with wigs etc in the "knicker compartments". You pull it behind you so there isn't much carrying apart from up some stairs to the tube. It works really well. I got mine for £11 at Tesco's.

    9. I used a long tool bag padded with the pillows from my dolls box. They are super sturdy (because the are meant for carrying around heavy metal tools) and so cheap!! You can get them in lots of colours and some can fit 2 or 3 SD's at a time.
If you do go for a tool bag I strongly advise washing it first. They can smell a bit like a timber yard to begin with and they can have some excess dye but a soak in some warm water and soap and they are just fine

    10. I have a friend who got a rolling bag on sale at a fabric store, it was originally supposed to be for quilting, or scrap booking or something. but the kids sit in there very snuggly and she can also bring all their extra stuff.

    11. I have a soft padded guitar case, I can fit two SD sized dolls and one MSD in the main part, along with some extra pillows, and in the pockets I carry magic erasers, eye putty, extra outfits, etc. It has straps like a backpack, as well as handles on the back and sides, so I can carry it easily.

    12. I use a carry case made by a friend, but I have friends who use the larger rolling suitcases with great results. They might be just a little out of your price range though, since they're usually $30-40... but maybe something to keep in mind for future use. The best part is that the rolling suitcases can hold several dolls comfortably, so if your doll family grows, you wouldn't need to upgrade your carrier.

    13. I have also seen people using hard-case soft-padded violin cases, with cushions inside. Those work nicely and seem to be a perfect fit :)

    14. :< I hope this is the right place to ask...

I would like to know where I could get some doll carrying bags without going directly to Volks or something.

I'm getting a DoC, but their own bags are out of stock. I have a big purse at home in mind, but I want to look at the actual doll bags first.

Finally, do they usually sell them here on the Marketplace? Thansk :3

    15. Some owners I know double tripod bags/yoga mat bags as doll bags. Just add the cushions they came with. A blanket (Optional) with a face mask. And you're good to go ^^

    16. dollmore has bags, look under "carrige bag"

      -Lily

    17. <.<; I use a fairly large betty boop bag that I got from wal-mart for like 5 bucks. It even holds 2 sd sized and 2 msd sized dolls, and still has room for my camera and misc doll stuff. You could also use a messager bag, as they're fairly cheap now days.

I improvise because right now I can't actually justify spending 20+ plus shipping (which is usually ungodly) for a doll bag. XD in time, sure. But not right now, heh.

    18. coolcat sell doll bags.
      Dollzone do too.

But for the greatest variety in styles I would advise dollmore.

Using a small suitcase/ vanity case would work too!

ETA: High five for Twing-Key! The more on DoA the merrier. xD
