1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Alternatives to doll carriers?

May 28, 2008

    1. Ok, now I get it. Although the living things in my world are the only ones that currently have the emergency evacuation kits stashed away for. .... I guess when I get my Miel doll I'll have to make some concessions......

    2. Baby strollers. B) They look funny, and there's no strain on your back or wrist! I messed up my left wrist bad from carrying around my mnf. It's still screwed up but my massotherapy teacher did a very painful twist and it popped back.

      Baby strollers.

    3. I just picked up a tennis racket bag on the cheap, and it fits my Meca Angel, with his legs bent up. And my Latidoll Aida can fit in it standing. They also both fit in together, with maybe room for one more SD. I am going to add in some more reinforcement though, but it has some good padding in it already. I also plan to use this as a carry on when I go traveling with my dolls.

For when I want to take all of my boys, I found this great wheeled bag that I am going to reinforce with the parts from another suitcase.

    4. I have a hookah carrying case that looks perfect for MSD (don't have my girl yet sp I can't confirm) It's super well padded and had two straps for holding down the vase and stem of the hookah that look just about right for a doll.

    5. A mountain dulcimer case! I have one and it works perfectly for my Super Gem girl! *hums to self*

    6. I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but soft alto saxophone cases are about the right size for an SD if he bends his knees! They've also got like an inch of padding all around. I'm going to use mine to take Ezekiel to MinamiCon this weekend, I'll let you know how it works out.
(I'd imagine that a tenor case might fit 70cm?)

    7. I found lots of empty violin cases on ebay, but the shipping was more than the item cost! So I just made a tube of a sturdy fabric with 2 layers of batting and it snaps shut on top. It works well for me since I wanted a biking case. She slips in from the top and her knees bend and wrap around my back. I'm now working on getting Carhartt material and making a more traditional zip case (body bag, I call them) with foam padding and straps for airplane travel. But I take commissions! PM me! ^_^

    8. That's neat - what is it?

    9. I got a scrapbooking tote at Joann's (go go half-off coupon). It's on wheels and has this neat divider in it that can move around (it velcros in). Two Delfs can sit down in it facing each other with that divider in to keep them from bumping; take the divider out and I could fit three or four in there without any issues. Tons of pockets, too.

    10. i have never taken out my dolls anywhere yet, but when i do have a proper carrier, i might just take them to the DP this year. but it depends. hong kong is just NOT a good place to take such fragile things anywhere...*_*

    11. I have a doll carrier from dollzone. Its okay for bringing dolls on long car trips etc. But I find it to be bulky and I have little maneuvering room in crowds. Mostly I just sit them on my arm(s) and walk around.

    12. My thoughts exactly! I would love to have a "rocket pocket" for my dolls (see here: http://www.domadoll.com/090306-ippo/ippo-order.htm ). Then I would just put their face-up protector on if I'm afraid they will be getting bumped around.

But until then, any more ideas for toting tinies? I have 2 dolls, 16cm and 13cm. I like the idea of a make-up bag because they can be found smaller than the other bags that are being metioned. Or I could just get a new purse for myself with a pocket in front for my two girls. That way they can still poke their heads out.

    13. I found a yoga mat carrying case at Target, that can fit at least a 60-70 cm BJD.

      It's only $24.99.

    14. Thanks for the tip on the Yoga carrying mat-I am going to check it out at Target!

    15. The yoga mat carrying case is a great idea. I paid little over fifty bucks including the shipping fees for my doll carrying case. This is a much better deal. I need two more right now so this works for me. Thanks for the tips you guys!

    16. Ok, to be truthful I didn't understand why anyone would take their dolls places, well I must admit that I take my Blythe doll with me places now. :) I feel funny, almost ashamed, but I like how people don't even question me on it, as if they were expecting me to pull a big doll from my purse and introduce her around. HAHA.

I was always told when you were 12 you were no longer a baby and didn't play with toys. Wow, what misinformation!!

    17. I know this is old, but... where do you GET an MSD coffin case?

    18. I'm pretty sure Dollmore sells them.
