1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Am I the only one that thinks 1 BJD is enough?

May 30, 2013

    1. I thought one doll was enough for about 2 months .... sigh!!!!

    2. I think it depends on the owner and his character.
For some people one is enough, and it is normal...

    3. I just got into the hobby recently and have one doll. I could honestly be ok with just him, considering I could learn how to make clothes and accessories and customize him, but then I get into this whole rut of "Darn I wish I had another one. Maybe a girl?". I really don't have the money for anything on him right now that I'm living alone, but I think having just one is completely ok.

    4. I bought my first doll in 2011, and I own only her. A few months ago, I sold her body and bought a MNF one. I have plans just for her, although I like other dolls, I wanna make my little one perfect and focus only on her :)

    5. I did for a long time but for some reason I now want more and am looking at a couple dolls.....but currently still have only one doll...but I'm probably going to pull the trigger on one next week...

    6. I could live with having just one BJD, but I have so many ideas and love so many different sculpts!

    7. I thought one was enough for a few years until I bought my second (long since sold again) on impulse because it was cheap and from then on I have wanted a ton lol.

    8. I live in the UK too : ) I've have Ein for six of seven years now, and it's only now, this summer, that I'm finally bringing him home a twin brother ^^ We're both very excited! I'm saving up for a larger, more costly doll too, but I don't expect to be able to afford him for possibly another year, maybe two. We'll see I guess! Everyone is different ^^

    9. I'm not a one doll only person. I can see the attraction of having one you can spoil rotten, but there's so much out there that I like, I just can't restrict myself to that extent.

    10. personally, i only wish to have one doll really, but i have preceded said doll with a little anthro buddy, but i dont see me getting any more than that.

    11. Wow.... @ those who have huge number of dolls. And I thought my friends with 6-8 dolls had a lot.

I only have one doll too! And I'm also trying to enjoy this hobby with a strict budget. It helps as I love craftwork, so I gave myself a policy of only buying wigs, eyes and shoes for my doll. The rest are handmade, to save money. I make and sell doll accessories to try and offset the $$ I spent on this hobby. So its working out. :)

The doll market seems to cater to those who buy multiple dolls? As I often see new doll sculpts being offered by various companies. So its so tempting to get the new gorgeous pretties!

I guess I manage to keep to one doll, as I made my girl to be like a 'cosplayer' and I do bring her out for display at such events. So she keeps her original character, but loves to dress up as others - depending on my mood haha. So I have several KIV projects to make costumes/ accessory/ prop sets for her in the future. So she gets new looks over time. I think this is different from dolls that have a fixed specific look/ style or never get changed out of their original costumes.

    12. I think it all depends on WHY exactly you like BJDs. One of the reasons I like them is because I like to create stories for them, and therefore I use multiple characters, therefore it's nice to have multiple dolls. (: If I didn't enjoy doing stories and what not I'd totally be happy to have just one! (I still would be happy with one if necessary!)

    13. I can't speak for my future self, but I think one doll is enough, though I've always imagined two would be ideal for me. But maybe once those two were 'finished', so to say, I may get more for artistic purposes. Though I'd imagine not. I don't like owning a bunch of objects, and prefer very clean, non-cluttered spaces, so a city of dolls is just too unrealistic for myself. One benefit though is people get some neat stories built with a collection of them.

    14. Nope, one could never be enough for me. I like to make characters and styles, and I simply couldn't be satisfied trying to cram that much 'personality' into one doll. That would be a hot mess.

I also love to display my clothes and shoes on the dolls, and if I only had one I think I'd be redressing him constantly.

    15. 2 is enough for me XD. A boy and a girl

    16. I pondered the idea of owning just one but I have so many different fashion tastes that I wanted dolls to fit both! I'm pretty happy with the 3 I have right now but who knows for the future! c:
