1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Angel Of Dream (AoD) 60cm Discussion - Part 2

Jan 20, 2015

1. He's so wonderful :)! I'm really excited to see what the giant bust looks like as well, I'm hoping she won't be too top heavy. She's coming from Alice's, I've never ordered a new doll from AoD before so I'm not sure how long it'll take til she gets here (ordered 1/21). My husband also ordered a Stacy's Pink Ocean dress for her so I know that'll take a bit as well.

I love your Heidi, those glasses look so cute on her! I saw the sculpt's teeth can come out but I'm curious to know how they stay in place.

2. ah that's where Will (my AoD Kim) came from dr_jekyll1372 - only took a month! ^_^ Although having checked just now, it's Chinese Spring Festival next week, so the entire country has a week's holiday - in the past that's delayed my orders by a week or 2 - but still it's not a long wait time compared to some doll companies! I had a 7 month wait for my last dollzone - forgot I'd even ordered her *_*

3. Heard someone was ordering a Qian? Congrats on the order! I've always really liked that sculpt. I have her in WS however I got her head two years after her body (I had the body previously hybrided with another head). I think they must have changed their resin tone because she is a lot whiter than when I received the body (the body came to me creamy white).

I have a question to ask those of you with these dolls. Have you ever restrung them? The female body I have was bought back in 2010 and I've never honestly had to restring her because she is such a great poser. But because of the resin difference (because I bought body and head separately), it's always bugged me so I decided I will get her a new body to hybrid with and gave her body to an old delf head. I had to restring the body to add the neck thing but have found she is quite floppy now. Has this happened to others? I know her stringing was really really tight (it took a lot of muscle just to pull the string out a bit to separate leg and ankle) before she was restrung.

4. im kind of new to this company and was wondering if AoD normal pink skin matches resinsoul's? im thinking of a possible hybrid between the two but i cant quite find info on the resin match :c

5. munchkin_E_L_F I don't think they will match, although I haven't tried it. AoD 'pink' matches Dollzone's 'pink' from 2013 - which was a VERY pale almost almond pink. You can see just how pale it is if you look at my Flickr - there's a photo about 5 rows down from the top, called 'dollzone resin match' - with a naked (to the waist) female dollzone doll in the 2013 pink which matches AoD pink - Her head is in that pink, but the body is dollzone WHITE - and they almost look OK together!

shirahime I hate restringing bigger dolls as it needs SO MUCH STRENGTH *_* beyond me really - I've never been able to get them tight enough again. Either enlist someone's help so you can pull harder (assuming you have decent tools in the first place?) And probably get some new doll elastic - it does vary in quality and strength - for example I have a new island doll but her arms are floppy no matter how much I haul on that elastic - it is I guess cheaper elastic and doesn't have much 'bounce' - it just stretches forever! Older elastic will lose it's strength too - Alices Collections sell doll elastic, as do most dealers I think, although again you don't know what the quality is like. You can buy elastic 'shock cord' or 'bunjee cord' from ebay, which is pretty much the same stuff although varies in quality (and thickness). Mainly though you need super-human strength for good tension on big dolls, or a helper!

6. I never tried to resting my AOD boys because it was hard enought to put the jointed hands on one boy and on the other the highheel feet i can't change again on my own because I can't pull them out anymore *drop*
Maybe what elve said helps....new elastics from AC. they work great!

new photospam of my boys:

7. They stay in with a bit of eye putty!

8. Thanks elve and jigarkhvar for the advice. I ended up using the elastic she came with for now until I can get more in the size I need. I figured out what the problem was. I had restrung her using two separate pieces of elastic for each leg (from head to feet) which made her loose. When I used the longer piece of elastic she came with folded in half so the same elastic was used to go down one side and then the other, she felt a lot more stable. Her balance seemed to work better.

jigarkhvar, I love musical instruments for dolls. Are one of your boys a Qian?

9. wow she is LOVELY shirahime :aheartbea She looks so different to the Qian I gave my son (and now desperately want back for the body - but no way he's letting her go!) Is that the default faceup?

Love your boys Jigarkhvar - is the last photo a Qian boy? Such a sweet face :aheartbea

10. thanks both of you
I bought the Violin in Salzburg, Austria ^-^ when i visited the city last week
and yes he is a Qian Boy and my first doll. He has birthday today. I have him for 5 years now! and I still love him :3
shirahime: your girl is pretty too! Qian is a beautiful mold
and good that your girl is fixed again!

11. munchkin_E_L_F, I missed your question earlier but if you go to the photo reference section and search for AOD or AOD Resin or AOD Resinsoul Hybrid, you should be able to find some threads that talk about that combination. I have a normal skin AOD boy but I don't have any Resinsouls to compare to sorry.

Thanks elve and Jigarkhvar!

elve, her face up is by the talented xhanthi. She really brought out the beauty in this sculpt with that face up.

Jigarkhvar, Oh, happy birthday to your boy. I always seem to forget when my dolls arrived. I've had so many come and go through here over the years!

12. Lovely dolls everyone!

I restrung my old style Zi Yuan and she's never been quite right either. I think the elastic I used wasn't quite thick enough to make her feel stable.

My Qian is going to be in pink skin and I bought some Resinsoul high heel feet early last year for my other dolls so if I remember, I might take a ref pic.

13. that's good.
and if it does not fit, then maybe blush it
the most of the time the feet are covered with shoes

14. Hi guys! This is Aerin, he's a discontinued version of Jimi I bought from a friend who used to be a distributor before they changed his look. :) He's my very first doll, and I love him! It took me 3 months for me to finally find his name. xD But I love his ears so much, my only dilemma is that he doesn't like to stand or sit up properly. :( So i get really scared about him flipping...

15. oh he is VERY cute Peachy :D I love the wide open eyes on him! Gorgeous wig too - can you restring him so he poses more securely?

16. That's what I was thinking as well, but my friend said he didn't need to be restrung because she had just redid it before she sold him to me, so I only assumed it was just how he was, I'm still really new to bjd so I didn't know any better but I think your right, I might have to. XD Only thing is I'm not sure how to do that. Lol

17. I like Jimi with open eyes too *_*
the mold is ma fav from AOD *sorry Tooru-chan you're cute too but....*

Yeah restringing helps for sure. ^-^v

18. Peachy there's loads of videos on youtube - this is just one of them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvTDpNYf0ow Although there are slight differences in how bjd are strung, depending on the manufacturer. Mainly you do need tools, and strength, if it's a bigger doll - LOTS of strength. You ideally need a helper, but I have strung them using my thighs to hold the doll, or you can use your feet as extra 'hands'. You really need a strong metal head hook for larger dolls, rather than ribbon (which is fine for smaller dolls, as the elastic isn't under such high tension) Ribbons are essential for threading the elastic through limbs though. Ideally you need forceps to hold the leg elastic for one leg, whilst you pull on the elastic to string the other leg together - otherwise it ends up shorter and is a bit tight to pull through the 2nd leg - I've never managed to get forceps though so I'll use something like a rolled up teeshirt to keep the elastic loop where it is, which works OK and no danger of chipping the resin around the joints.

He may need new elastic too - more than likely - Alices Collections or most other dealers sell it - or you can buy 'shock cord' or 'bungee cord' off ebay, the right thickness - but it does vary in quality - if it's too stretchy and soft, you'll not get the tension good enough and the doll will be a bit floppy - But I'd rather have a floppy doll as they do pose nicely in seated poses, just not standing up ^_^

19. elve thanks so much for the link! I'll check it out. ^_^ I love the open eyes on the Jimi doll as well. XD He was my first ever faceup and for a first time I'm pretty proud of it but I would like to redo him. Haha xD

20. Ah, a Jimmy. I used to have that sculpt ages ago. I think I ended up giving it to a friend for face up practice. I love his wig colour Peachy. Restringing does get easier the more you do it. I always hate restringing dolls mostly because I always end up getting a bit frazzled but that could be because I have mine strung fairly tight so it's always a battle getting the feet and hands on (or off).

What size string does everyone use on their dolls (if you've restrung them)? The original string in the AOD looks like it is a 3mm which I always thought were used on MSDs, not SDs!

Haven't seen a lot of Gu sculpts around. Mine is from after they tweaked/redid the sculpts.
