A friend of mine once opened up my AR boy's head cap by sort of twisting it to the side, if that helps. (Or at least I think that's what she did... o_O I haven't tried opening it back up since then, so...)
Good for you! The world needs more Little Fairs. Plus Dana is a CUTIE! The male and female Dana headmolds are the same -- if I remember correctly, there was a modified Dana headmold called Daniel who had a slightly open mouth, but I don't know if he was ever actually produced or if he was another one of AngelRegion's 'we'll get to it soon's. The make-up and bodies are the only things different about the male and female molds. AngelRegion just uses Mister Super Clear to do their make-up, so I would assume some rubbing alcohol or brush remover would take it off in a jiff. (Just to warn you, excessive touching will take it off too, so be careful around the face! Also, don't use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to clean the face -- if I'd known that when I got my girl she wouldn't be missing half the coating on her forehead right now. ) I've never sanded my girl (she came without seams) but I separated her fingers, and my friend has sanded all three of her AngelRegion dolls, so I can tell you the resin is just fine and you shouldn't have any problems sanding. If you're planning on getting a tan Dana though, DON'T sand the seams at all -- the tan colour doesn't go all the way through, so the resin will look slightly lighter where you sand it. (My friend sanded her tan doll and now he has tanlines, poor thing.) The resin is very durable and can take a lot of abuse; heaven knows how many times I've dropped my poor doll and she's NEVER chipped her face or broken a finger, even when she fell face-down onto a hard floor. (She DID have a piece of her foot-joint flake off...but that was a few days after I got her and she'd never been dropped at that point. I still have no clue what caused it, and nothing like it has ever happened again. ) It's a bit difficult to get the headcap off the first time, but I used a rubberband to hook the cap to the inside and, after a little fiddling to get the length right, it's now super-easy to take on and off! Personally, I've never met a doll better at posing than a Little Fair. I've seen some people talk about how horrible they are and how they can't pose at all, but those people seem to just have gotten very loosely-strung dolls. AngelRegion can be a little flaky sometimes, especially during a busy time, but with the proper stringing these dolls can do AAAANYTHING. (No, really. Never seen a pose I couldn't get my girl to do. ) If you still have doubt, I submit to you this: And that's more than you ever wanted to know about Little Fairs. ♥ Good luck with your Dana!
I have to agree with everything everyone else said, little fairs are the greatest things ever! I've had my boy for over a year now, and have yet to find a flaw! one thing that is annoying if you don't know how to handle it is the headcap though... A REALLY easy way to get the headcap off is to take a blunt knife, credit/ID card, or any thin, flat, sturdy object and gently slide it between the headcap and head, then lift it up! the headcap will be stupendously easier to get off!
I can't find his eye size on Angel Region, and seeing as how my other two minis each have one wig and bought from the same company where they were made, I dunno his wig size. Help?
Jade 2 came with 14mm eyes, even though the site said 16. He can wear either, though. (looks good in either size, but a little more 'awake' in 14, little more dreamy in the 16.) ^__________^
http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73074 I wish there were pictures for Descent of Angel. Maybe that means that it IS new!!! ^o^ Yay!! Seeing all the LF on this site makes me so excited about making my deposit on Ren!! *dances*
My CP Kid delf is very close in color to my roommate's AR Normal skin Cien. However, due to the fact that the Luts color can vary from batch to batch I don't know if that's the case across the board.
I have an AR Ren and I love him to death, but he needs new wigs. However I keep running into the problem of his big fat head not fitting the wigs I buy >_< Anyone know why MSD and size 7-8 wigs, which is what he's SUPPOSED to fit, don't fit him? I've bought a few now and they just don't fit. The only wigs he can seem to wear are a few fur wigs and the AR wigs I've gotten him already. Help someone please!
Part of the problem is that wig sizes themselves are inconsistent...I've purchased MSD wigs that only fit small headed dolls like minifee (who are 7 1/4), and recently, I bought an "MSD sized" wig from Luts that is so big the only person who can wear it is my El Breakaway. So, I've found that just because a wig is advertised as MSD or 7-8, doesn't mean that it really is. So far it seems to be hit and miss.
I found out that Rens' do indeed have a "fat head". I have a Ren myself. Wigs are a problem with him too, hats too (so I have to have them all special made his hats). I did find out that Rens' have bigger heads then some other AR head mold like Jades'/Manos'. Jades' have smaller heads than Ren's and will fit wigs better. All I can say is try and try again. I found that Angelregion wigs do fit best. Maybe because they know that they have big heads. Just have to find wigs that run on the larger side. Also I found one Leekeworld out of three I tried that worked as the sizing isn't always constant as they are handmade. The Leekeworld wigs fit Jades' fine though. Wish you the best! Rens' are really worth the trouble.
I knooooow!! I have tried like a zillion wigs on my poor Ryuuga and he always ends up in the same AR wig I do remember getting a wig from Leeke that did fit him, but the color and cut were totally wrong for him. So... maybe I'll keep trying to find one for him in the leeke pages ^^;; And best of luck to you too!! It's hard, but... Ren's are too lovable anyway, even with their wig issue ^^;;
I lucked out with Volks MSD wigs on my AR Present Ren. The Angel Region wigs I didn't actually really like on him; the wig caps seem to be a bit too small. I had that problem getting them on non-AR dolls' heads as well, though.
really? I tried Schulze's wig on my boy and he looks... dumb in it MAybe others would be good... *continues searching* Yeah, I know the feeling! I have tons of wigs I got just to try them on Ryuuga, and well, only one worked for him EDIT: Forgot to say, DOD wigs fit them too (at least default U and Elf Kirill), I just didn't think it was my boy's style. Back to the AR wig -_-
Our rens do best actually in cancan wigs with the elastic cap. Especially with a little velcro on the head to hold the crown of the wig in place, and the elastic cap slides around neatly on the rest of the head. We have a MSD volks wig that fits nicely, as well. AR wigs are often slippery and slide around even with velcro, and I have noticed that their sizes vary. (we have a wingtail red and a wingtail silver, and one is WAY smaller.) I've never tried DoD wigs, but it seems to me with the diffence in head sizes, they might be small. =X I don't know if they're elasticy or not; if they are they'd probably fit fine.
hehe, actually it's my DOC boys they don't fit very well *mumbles something about DOD and their default wigs* But they do have a stretchy headcap! The worst thing is that the wigs that I have found that fit him are not his style at all, that's so depressing... my poor boy I'll just try cancan or jpopdolls wigs next! And OMG you have TWO Rens!!! I so want a Ren girl ;_;
I don't know what happened to Kyrie Arashi, but the hook holding on my doll's leg just popped out one day. She isn't strung super tightly or anything. I was able to screw it back in thankfully. I'm not sure how new she is, I got the body second-hand. It seems pretty freak, I just thought I'd say something because I saw it happened to Kyrie, too.
