oewh..lol sounds like my grand grand mother...she's 97 almost 98 and she fell on her hip...and broke her wrist XD instead of her hip...she got lucky...
and well durable compared to other people her age

 

CW used to dive off things if I wasn't watching. His only chip is on the inside of one knee and I have NO IDEA how it got there. It showed up mysteriously about a week after I got him. Other than that the only damage on my of my AR dolls is around the head cap from me messing with eyes so much and that little denting really doesn't matter much and will happen on any doll who's still strung in the head cap instead of rubberbands or magnets.

My only issue with AR is the hands.... I REALLY need to separate my boys fingers. The hands irk me a bit. But once the fingers are separated I know it wont be a problem.

I'm fairly sure CW has fallen on his face before with no chipping, but I think that's more luck than anything else. I've heard of nose chipping from every company and it makes sense. It's a relitively thin part of the doll and it's pointy, so if the doll falls on it reguardless of resin it's got a higher chance of chipping.

As for matching, their regular matches Dollmore fairly well. Even though I haven't personally compaired I think the rose white might match Dollmore better than the normal, but that's only because normal Dollmore resin is a bit pale. Not Hound pale, but a bit pale non the less.

I like the brown glass eyes that came through OFY but I'm not sure if those are the same as the ones they normally have for sale on the site or not... -_-

For all people having trouble finding wigs- Leek wigs fit most AR minis wonderfully. Both my P.Ren and my P.Jade have leek wigs and they are prefect. Even the Danas (who's heads are even larger then the Ren's by a bit) can wear the Leek wigs easily so they are a company to go for. I've never had problems with their wgs. My Ren likes to go bald randomly- but that is more a problem with him then the wig -_-;;

As for the rest, I second most of what has been said. Sometimes the eyehooks come unscrewed- but it's far better then having to deal soething like the DOD system >_< that hurts to string. And posing it always lovely. Each of my three boys pose a little different due to stringing differences, but one you learn the quirks you'll come to appriciate the way they pose. I've never had to wire my dears or anything.

I'm glad you posted this thread, otherwise i won't have known about the head issues (was just going to order some furwigs then too^^;; and the hand/feet popping. As a matter of fact, Jade's feet just... popped today and it was the first time i took him to the uni library too! D:

And I've just had him for almost 2 months^^;

 

It's large by a bit I think, becaus he/she is much more a child like sculpt. I really only noticed cause I played the typical wig swapping game. You can order a fur wig to and it will tend to fit. I order one from.. kikio moth I think (sp?) and it fit my Ren just fine.

 

while we're on the subject of wigs, is it safe to say that most stretch cap wigs will fit AR big heads? (zomg lol that sounds weird XD)

because I'm looking to buy this second hand dollheart wig >w<

I just thought that it would be a wise thing to do so i could prepaire propperly for my doll.

I think im gonna try to make mowhair wigs myself...
My sister made dreadlocks in doll hair when she was younger...
She promissed me to try to do that for me if the blond wig whitch comes with ren is made in the right way
And i guess i will just stick velcro on her headcap XD

Is it normal to have uber sewing craze while waiting for a doll... Its amazing how much ive made....my mom is going crazy because of it D:
The doll better arrive within a month or my mom will drown in minature hoodies and little jeans.

Im gonna try for a special holding bag for her tomrw, to hold her in in my bag!

I already had that...and there arnt any shops here that sell anygood stuff for msd dolls...the only know doll kinda like bjd are barbies over here.

I found a super cute chinees wedding juwlery box that looks like a msd sized drawer...and that was all i needed...
I just spend about a 100 dollar on fabrics little beads and other stuff i could use to make her stuff with...

I'm looking into an AR Ren too, but does the popping off of joints happen often(is afraid of breaking her)? Do they still stand well and pose? They look rather sturdy from all the pictures and such. Just had to ask

 

For wigs-
Not all wigs stretch to fit. I bought a Dollzone wig and it will not fit Dee at all! I tried and tried, but it isn't for her anyways so it didn't bother me. Dee wears Monique and Acquire wigs, both 7-8.

For the limbs falling off-
It isn't a serious problem so nobody get really worried! A dab of super glue and there's never an issue afterwards. I'll include some pictures for an easy method of doing this.



Pull on the hand until you can see the elastic. You may want to use your feet as leverage.


Push a strong object between the elastic. I used a pen here, but I usually use a pair of needlenose pliers. Don't use wooden painbrushes... I've had too many snap in half in that way. x.x' The hand will either fall off or you will have to slip it off.


Here is the hand. x.x' Unscrew the eyehook and dab some glue into the hole. Screw in the eyehook and let the glue dry. Now comes the fun part!


Feet for leverage!


I'm pulling the pen back and using my feet to make sure her entire arm doesn't follow as I pull.


Once you have a good amount of elastic showing, slip the hand on. Carefully pull out the pen and ease the hand into place.


Ta dah!

If anybody is interested, I will take and post pictures of how to get the elastic out in the case that your arm or leg does fall off.

 

As you can see kyrie showed it is easy to take the hand off without having to restring the whole doll to put a little glue on the screw and all.
I will probebly be the first thing i do after she arrives.

I suprisingly was send a message that she will probebly arrive this morning!!!

As for the popping off thing... It happens, but it's not super common. Only one of mine does that and of all the other AR dolls I know in person the only one to do it is Clover. *shrugs*

 

well my stuff im making isnt that great...still trying a lot of things..thats where i bought her for in the first place...to learn how to make clothing bla bla.

Does any of you own a AR and a DOC? I am thinking of buyinh a DOC boy next year XD
