Angell Studio KiD 1/4 Discussion Part 1

I got my shipping notice today, I have not even waiting a month for her! I think this is the quickest time I have had a doll posted out to me! Any way I have a question, I probably should have asked this sooner but:

What size/thickness are strings that AS dolls are strung with? I have taken to the habit of string my MSD dolls with 3mm for the arms and 4mm for the legs because it helps makes the posing a lot better. Although my MNFs have 3mm all round, but that is only because of they neck S-hooks are small. I am just curious because if she is going to come with really thin string like Resinsoul dolls do I know that she will need restringing when she gets home.

If it is thick like 3mm I would deal with it for now, and probably until she would need re-stringing any way; but any thinner and I would want to re-string her. It would just be helpful to know so I could track down some elastic before she got home.

Congrats on the shipping notice! My 1/4 AS girl is strung really well. I've had her for almost two years now and still not restrung her, her posing is still fine. It's a bit difficult to measure the thinkness of her string without taking her apart, but it's nowhere near as thin as Resinsoul string I'm thinking it's about 3 mm, but I could be half a mm off. I hope that helps...

 

Thanks so much, I am so happy it was unexpected especailly since someone on here asked AS and the said because of the event then it could be 30-40 days. I ordered on the 18th December! So woot! Even though she has no eyes, no wig and no clothes! The eyes and wig are being made. And I am going to try my best to make her some clothes for when she gets home!

I think it gives me a better idea if the string seems thick. It should be OK, especailly if it is about 3mm because a couple of my RS girls still have 3mm in their legs and they seem not too bad. I think MNF string is a tiny bit thinner then 3mm too because I noticed that when I restrung one of them with 3mm string.

If she has been posing great for you still then that is pretty good! How solid does she stand? My other actual double jointed doll is actually the least stable standing because the top half will sometimes almost "fall over" the top. However she is tones better with the 4mm. She still did that with the 3mm string though, which again was much thicker then what was sent out with her.

 

Her standing is the only thing I sometimes have difficulty with. I'm still planning to suede her ankles, but I'm lazy She will benefit greatly from it though. She does stand, but her ankle joints are a bit slippery, thus enabling her to topple over a bit on the easy side. But it isn't too bad, my MNF actually has the same problem and with her it's a lot worse. Other than that I find that I don't complain about her a lot even though she's on the single jointed body. My other AS dolls are double jointed and I'm happy with those too, btw.

 

I know MNFs do have a weak ankle problem, I have 3 MNFs and have noticed that. The AS doll I am getting is the double jointed one. It is good to know any issues you have had. I am not afraid of sueding though because I have had to do that to some of my dolls already.

Congratulations! I ordered on 18 December too and last friday AS said to me, that my Dina is not ready yet. Did you order her with or without make-up?

 

I love Dina so much she is definitely my next doll but I'm having trouble deciding on a color of wig for her... with her brunette-colored eyebrows she can go with a lot of colors any suggestions of what would look stunning with butter skin tone and her beautiful face-up?

 

Just a blank doll, no make up or clothes or anything. So that could be why mine is ready a little sooner.

She is even in my country now, when I get her all depends on how long customs detain her! I really hope I can make her some clothes today!

 

In my opinion, pink hair looks great with more yellow-toned skin If you want something more natural, I suggest a light color.

Although I thought I would point out that 16mm eyes are too big for her in my opinion and 14mm eyes do look a lot better. The 16mm eyes fit into the eye wells, however the iris of the eye covers up a lot of the space. I took photo's so people can have a think about whoch works best for them:



The top picture grey eye is 16mm, the blue eye at the top is 14mm (it wasn't fully clear so I thought I would add other 14mm eyes).
The bottom picture with the green eyes, they are 14mm eyes.

They are not what I am planning for her, but will be having a look for a nice pair of 14mm eyes. These ones don't catch the light well IMO. She is just borrowing them for now because they are better then no eyes and they are the only spare 14mm eyes I have.

 

So lucky I want a Dina Is that sun-tanned skin? I'm thinking of getting her in butter

I have one of her sat down, out of the box if you like? I also took comparisons between the AS tan and the normal skin of RS and FL if people would like to see those too.

I can't really show her off yet because I don't have anything for her. I am going to get her face-up done next week. However I had to buy some new eyes since I don't have many spare 14mm since they are all in my dolls! I also don't have a wig for her yet because I am on a waiting list for one of Rivers dreadlock wigs.

The top resin is RS normal resin next to my sun tan solid Dina and the bottom one is MNF normal RS. She is a much light colour then I thought she would be.

 

Wow, she really arrived super quickly. She's gorgeous, you must be so happy!

 

I think she is the fastest doll I have had come home. I ordered on the 18th December and I got her yesterday! I was lucky customs didn't hold her for too long as well! I am very happy and I do think Dina is a lovely sculpt. I can't wait to get her sorted to how she is supposed to look!

 

Can't wait either, it seems like your Mint is the first Dina around so it'll be great to see some owner pics!

 

I see, that is pretty cool! Maybe because I got her blank and ordered her almost right away because I fell in love!

I will post better pictures when I can, but I don't have anything sorted of her at the moment and weather permitting (we might get bad snow) hopefully she will have a face-up next week.

I have to wait for her eyes and wig though. Since I had to get new eyes since personally I think she looks better with 14mm rather then 16mm. I am also going to make her some clothes. Well I am working on that slowly but surely.
