Angell Studio KiD 1/4 Discussion Part 1

Jun 20, 2007

    1. I few things have happened and so I won't be able to buy any doll stuff at all (or other extras) until after April. So I think I will have to just have her wearing some gothy clothes since I have stuff like that any way. :) Plus I think since I am not going to be going dark Mori like I first thought, I think she will be only wearing bits of greens any way. :) So I am sure it will be OK. :)

I took adult night classes to learn, I am sad that they stopped because I do feel I could learn a lot more. However I am happy that I know some basics so I can make some things for my dolls. It makes things easier.

    2. I love the gothic style I cannot wait to see the vision you have for her :D My new girl on her way I was planning to make a goth/nerd type as I think it would be adorable :whee: for Dina I have more of a plain look laid out for her, but hopefully she will still be adorable ;)

That sounds like it would be helpful :o I wish I had a place nearby that offered classes like that! But oh well I will just have to learn as I go I guess :kitty2

    3. That is cool I love gothic style as well, I am probably going to be taking my Dina to Whitby Goth Weekend too! It is pretty cool you are going to have a goth/nerd girl too! I can imagine a lot of people making their Dina look cute, rather then what I did because the company photo's do make her look very cute.

Sadly they had to cancel the classes because of the number dropped to low, but at least I picked up some stills.

    4. That sounds awesome I hope you take a lot of pictures I bet she will look perfect there :love Yeah I love her company face up so very much that I definitely want to get her with that and it kind of says "average adorable teenager" in my opinion :whee: which is not bad I am not one for anything too frufru and frilly ;) Although I love seeing dolls like that I love to be more simplistic with mine. I do not think I could handle having a fancy doll I would be too overwhelmed :sweat I just hope I can create a unique style for my Dina. I was kind of thinking of an average Japanese style. When I was in Japan I noticed majority of people's fashions were very cutsie but also so simplistic and I would love to have something like that for her. It almost made me think: old lady style but cutified (making up words! :dance). Also I have decided I am going to give her beautiful deep violet eyes :D Still no idea about hair though. Probably a light blonde or pale brunette

Yeah that tends to happen. Not too many people seem to sew nowadays :( we are losing our artistic touches in this world :...(

    5. I am sure I will, I am very snappy happy sometimes. ^^; I am hoping she will be ready in time for a meet I am going to on the 17th! :)

Her company face up is well done, but personally not for me. I first was very careful with dolls and wanted them to look simple and natural. Now I am much bolder!

Your idea sounds cool also, and to be honest you need to make her the way you want her and what will make you the happiest with her. At the end of the day you are the one living with her. :) I wish you luck on getting it all together. :)

    6. Well I cannot wait to see those pictures then :whee: I hope she is ready in time :XD:

Yeah when I look at some dolls and get an idea for them sometimes the company face-up is good sometimes I want something totally different ;) but for now I have not gotten a doll that I have not gotten the company face-up, but I will hopefully sometime in the nearish future  Hopefully I can become much bolder in time. I would love to do some simple modding like ear-piercing and such but being still new to it all and confidence in my skills being very minimal I think I will hold off for a bit :sweat

I will nobody can persuade me to change what I find perfect :kitty2 But I am still not sure on wigs so I am taking suggestions :blush I am definitely looking for a lighter color and something that looks good with her face-up but blonde and brunette seem so plane... at the same time I do not want something too crazy-colored *_* I will just have to browse around wigs for a while I guess :thumbup

    7. I tend to have set character idea's in my head which often helps decided how the doll will look. Only 2 of 8 of my dolls have a company face-up. However for those 2 I really liked the face-up. So it works. I guess it is a good idea to start of small, and to be fair if you are happy with the compnay face-up there is nothing wrong with that. :)

    8. So very true :3nodding: Sometimes I will have an idea in my head that I wish for a doll and try to find one to match and other times, like Dina, I just see a doll that I fall in love with and build an idea out of what I see ;) Either way I believe would make me just as happy with a doll :whee: But at least with a company face-up I can be sure it already looks good on a doll unlike creating my own idea I cannot be sure how different the doll may look :sweat Have you ever had a doll come out differently than you had predicted?

    9. That makes sense, I have two real life doll friends who are very talented at face-ups and so it is not that hard for me to get face-ups done. Especially since they like my sewing work, so Dina's face-up my friend did for me and I made some clothes for one of her dolls. :) I can't do face-ups myself and if I had an idea it would frustrate me.

If you are happy with the doll, that is the important thing. Dina's face-up personally didn't work for my idea because I wanted bold blacks and greens. She is also the boldest I have gone with a dolls face-up.

Yes, I have had a doll come out differently, funny enough my Dina. I was going to go Dark Mori with her, but include a lot of greens because her name is Mint. I was with the face-up artist when she was being done and I said imagine cyber-goth meets nature and we had a play. However I got carried away with the Cyber goth thing.

    10. I know that feeling, I found a girl that I would love to make a cute gothic lolita but her only release right now has her face coated in very vibrant pinks :doh So I am waiting for her to either be released as a basic or hoping she will be released as another limited with a darker look :thumbup I wish I could do face-ups or sew. I have yet to have my hand at either so for all I know I could be really good at either but for now I am still quite a noob :sweat perhaps if I do get a blank face I will have to try my hand at face-ups just to see if I might have a chance at them but otherwise I could wipe it clean and find somebody else ;) and sewing that will take some practice but hopefully I can find some lessons from somebody even if it is just the basics and get started on learning that :kitty2 for now I am pretty good at crocheting and can live with that :kitty1
I think either idea would have been really amazing and I cannot wait to see what her finished product is :whee: I am so excited and she is not even my doll

    11. I see, I am nervous about trying my own. Although sometimes you get free heads during events and things, I figured if I ever got one of those I would use it for face-up practise! :)

Like everything you only get good by practising, I have never tried a face-up because I am too scared too. I also used to be really terrible at sewing too, but then I took classes. Maybe you could try and find some? Or online guides. My advise with sewing would be to start simple and work up!

I am also very excited that you are excited about what I am going to do with Mint! I will be sure to post pictures when she is all done, and well when I have her wig.

    12. Yes I hope I can find lessons somewhere. I have a couple of amazing seamstresses that have offered to teach me it's just they live nowhere near me so I would have to plan way in advance to give a day with them which involves working around a pretty closed schedule :sigh But one of these days I'll be free and be able to meet up with them :kitty2 I always thought event heads would bother me as since they would not have a body, but now I would be excited to get one just for the practice ;)

I cannot wait to see it all together :whee: I used to think dreads looked horrible and dirty, but after seeing what some people have done with dreads on their dolls I have come to like them quite a bit :thumbup I feel that dreads will look perfect on Mint :XD:

    13. It is nice of them to offer though! :D I hope you can get something sorted.

Personally I love dreads, I have dreads myself and Mint will be my 3rd doll with dreads and considering I have 8 dolls. I guess it means I like dreads. Although I do love mohair for dolls too!

    14. Again Mohair bugged me a lot but ever since I got a little anthro that came with a mohair wig I just love it so very much :love It makes me want to get eve more mohair wigs :whee: I do not know if I will ever get dreads for a doll though. Just have not found a doll that has yelled: "you should have dreads!" to me yet

    15. I could joke that I think it is because I was an 80's child that I love big hair. But I love big hair which is why mohair and dreadlock wigs appeal to me. So yeah, each to their own really. I think I will probably end up with more mohair dolls because I do love how it looks.

Although the only doll I am "planning" to get will probably end up with a fur wig since it will be a weird alien cat thing. :)

    16. Well my Dina has her wig now! I am really happy because she looks more complete!

Does any one else have a Dina yet? I would love to see more pictures of her because I really like her. Plus it will be cool to see what other people do with her!

    17. She looks awesome! That wig is so cool! Who made that? And the combination with her eyes and face-up, wow :fangirl:

    18. Thanks so much, River made it. I have had about 3 wigs of her now and they are look really cool! Thanks so much I was going for a very green theme with her. I am really happy you like it! :D

    19. Oh wow, that wig looks awesome on her! And she's such a pretty sculpt... I think Angell-Studio dolls are way underrated! :D

Here is Hugh, my Angell-Studio Aaron:

(I swear, his faceup looks better in person... ;) )

    20. Thanks so much, I am happy you like it. I do love the Dina sculpt so much and I do hope to see more of them about. I do agree with you Angell-Studio dolls are way underrated! Thanks for sharing your boy though, I have not seen many AS about, so it would be cool to see more.
