1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Angell Studio KiD 1/4 Discussion Part 1

Jun 20, 2007

    1. Joining this thread, will probably mostly be lurking though :P
As a newbie I'm doing a whole lot of research on my first doll order and I am thinking about an AS Dina. Do you who own an AS like their posing? My initial reaction was that the joints are a little boxy looking? But I could be wrong :) I think the sculpts are really beautiful and if they have good posing it might be the doll for me :)

    2. I am a AS Dina owner and I actually like the posing, she is not perfect but she can do some pretty good posing. She stands pretty solidly as well, she seems to have some good arm movement as well. The only issue I have with her, is that her torso joint seems a bit floppy. I was pretty surprised how well she does actually.

Here is some Dina spam, although as you can see I went for a very different look to the company "default"

    3. Karla-chan- she looks awesome against that backdrop!!! She has an awesome, unique look about her! Do you think that flopiness could be fixed with sueding? How does she sit? Forgive all the questions but I want to know before I order, considering this will be the most I've ever spent on a doll :D

    4. Siriana- I love the pose your girl is doing in that picture, she looks like a sweet little Lolita. Or at least a sweet girl :)

    5. I completely agree!

karla-chan, your girl looks awesome as usual :)
About the posing, I like my girl, but she's on the single-jointed body and so she could be better in the arms and legs!

    6. Thanks for responding Wennie :) Kind of random but...I've just started on Youtube and I love your videos!

    7. Oh yay! Thanks :)

    8. SoOoOoOoO...it's n00b time. You can laugh, just not too loudly...Are these girls and boys french resin?? I know that usually transparent dolls are but I couldn't find in anywhere on MoC or the company site...

    9. Yup, the translucent skintones are french resin. The solid ones are the normal kind :)

    10. No, I don't think sueding would help because the connection between the two joints seems small. I think the best bet would be to re-string with thicker string and see how that does it. I plan to do that as soon as I can find some 4mm string. It is not a major problem, I find all dolls even MNFs have their issues and there stronger points. Over all she is a pretty good poser and I have got her in some pretty cool poses. I managed to get her to Gangnam style too, that picture should be on this thread somewhere. I think she sits really well actually, because of where her torso joint is I think you can get some pretty natural looking sitting poses.

No bother about the questions, I am happy to help if I can.

Thanks so much, I thought it was really lucky with the time of the day I was walking past that area the sun was hitting the cliffs really nicely.

Thanks so much, I am happy you like her. I have a few holiday pictures of her actually. :D Here is her on a boat trip I took her on:

    11. That's a really nice background to put her in! I should really take my dolls outside more :)

    12. I actually love taking my dolls out for cool backgrounds. The thing is because it was Whitby Goth Weekend I managed to get cool props too, but because people liked her that much they gave me free things for her and discounts on some stuff. Which is pretty cool! So I have some mini books and a tiny broach.

Also for the ship, the captain put me at the front so I could get some cool shots because he was that impressed by her.

    13. That sounds awesome, really :) My dolls don't look as Goth-y, but I may take one to the next festival. I keep planning to take them places, but the weather has been so horrible and I don't want to have to shield the from the elements all the time. Maybe I'll start with our garden, now that it's starting to look nice-ish!

    14. Mint looks the most extreme out of all my dolls. I have some with very natural face-ups. I would be wary of big crowds because I took one doll to a Chinese New year thing and I got pushed and my doll broke the hook in her wig cap. However as for protection I have a flute bag so I kept her in that.. unless I was taking a photo or comparing props with her. The flute bag I have can be used like a back pack and is well padded.

    15. I usually take them in the little AS sleeping bag, which I have in every size. They're handy, but not at all water proof and I still need to be extremely careful with them. My tinies travel in a whisky bottle carton, because it's just the right size :)

    16. Wennie- a whisley bottle carton!! I love it!! LOL
Karla-chan- Mint (is that her name?) is like an awesome bada$$ gothic, pirate, steampunk chick. And I mean that in the nicest way :P She is really cool and these pics of her with the awesome backgrounds are really inspiring!

Everyone thanks for answeriny my n00b questions. I was worried because I don't particularly want a doll in french resin but they do both so, yay! lol

    17. I do think the AS bag is useful, but not as good as the RS carries. Really it is just like a doll pillow, which is really useful still because that can then go in a bag and have that bit extra protection. I still use doll pillows with my flute bag because I am either putting in two MSDs or my camera also.

I bet the whisky bottle carton is good though because it will have that hard layer.

Yes her name is Peppermint, or Mint for short. I call her both. :) Lol, I was going for goth girl with her and the pirate thing could just be because she is on a ship! :) I am happy you like her. I do my best to put my dolls in interesting situations to spice things up a little. I have her at the Abbey at Whitby too!

    18. @Karla-chan - The whisky thing is excellent, hard on the outside and just enough room for some bubblewrap and the doll itself on the inside :) One of my tinies travelled with me when I went backpacking in Norway for two weeks, not a scratch on her!

The pic with the violin is beautiful! I wish we had more ruins here, lol. Or that I could go to the UK again, but I wish that on many more levels (it's my favourite place to go on holidays. Never yet been to Whitby though!)

    19. Oh awesome, that sounds pretty good! I have seen people use whine bottle things for MSD's so I can see why it would be useful. I personally love my flute case because it is like a backpack and it makes things easier for me. However if you have something that works well, then that is awesome.

Thanks so much, I do love Whibty I wish I got longer at the Abbey however it was pretty windy and there were school children that showed up not long after me so I thought it was best to pop her away.
