1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Angell Studio KiD 1/4 Discussion Part 1

Jun 20, 2007

    1. From what I've heard recently about ordering, you might do better to send an email to their customer service representative with a list of the items you want to order, rather than attempting to navigate the confusing web page. Their customer service is supposed to be helpful.

AS dolls (at least the 1/4 ones I've seen) have French resin heads and polyurethane ("normal") resin bodies. There's a notable difference between the two because french resin is semitranslucent, but once the head is blushed/has a faceup the resin matches well - in my opinion. *I think* there must be an option to change the head to polyurethane, and this is what the "change to solid skin tone" option is. I have seen AS dolls with normal resin heads on the marketplace, so I know they exist for at least some sculpts. Again, I'd email customer service to ask since I can't find any pictures on the website either.

There's more information in the waiting room thread; it's really long though so probably searching for specific keywords would be best. And some of it's probably out of date by now :sweat

    2. I had ordered a Hua Lian from AS, Now all I need to do is pick him up from Atsuki gl. :)

I didnt have any interest in them at first, but then I got bored and took a look at them and they were gorgeous! and I kept screaming that I needed to get Hua Lian and soon since he is limited :D

I think Yue is nice, but I dont really like closed eyed dolls, cuz if you try to make them stand up they'll end up looking rather strange. O.o

    3. my boy Yang is an AS Hua Lian,
he is coming soon, probably by next week :)
I'll post a picture once he arrives ^^

    4. I love them:) But i think the dolls are not mutch special, its the clothes that makes them really beautifull:D

    5. yeaaah, clothes definitely help the dolls along even though I do believe they are very beautiful no matter whaat

    6. My hua lian is home ^^ I wanted to see hua lian with more normal wigs though like black or brown? Will you have a wig like that wakaremichi?

    7. They release two girls,cat elf? I love the Mandarava,so cute.><

    8. Hello:

I want to find a couple for my DZ boy...i was thinking in a Vera from Angell Studio....do you think that the measurement would be rigth for a dz boy?....i mean i don´t want to have a girl wich seems very smaller compare to the boy.

Other question how is the quality of frenh resin....i read that with time it gets old worse....now i have the posibility of buy a second hand vera with makeup and clothes that have one year and a half for 160€ (about 232$)....but i don´t know....it´s white skin and maybe she got old badly.....i don´t know if buy the second hand or spend a bit more and get a new one

    9. im actually going to put him in a white wig, but i'll try using a black wig on him once I get one :)

    10. I try to saving to get Gus soon but when I asked AS for many month ago to change to senior boy body is 270USD But now I'm asking agian it's300USD. I wonder if any one brought it in what price? and How nomal body different than senior body?
AS it 300 USD is expensive for me:doh long way to get him.

    11. I don't have an AS doll yet, but I believe the difference between senior and normal is that senior is double-jointed.

    12. Oh I see! and is there're so much different about pose?!
I will get single-jointed now but not confidence much.:(

    13. Bump. Would just like to know this too.

I ordered a 1/4 Leira with the senior body and am wondering if I jipped myself. I'm fine with the little extra, but maybe it was a bit excessive for 70USD more?

I used these photos http://www.angell-studio.com/en/?gallery-Body_180-grid.html to decide. I figured might as well since a bjds main purpose is to stand around and be pretty

    14. wait...WC? Waist circumference? 12,5cm? I think I saw it in their web it was 13.6 for normal body, 13.8 for senior body

    15. I want to get Manjusaka, but I'm a little worried about the whole french resin thing. I've heard that it yellows a lot faster than other resins. Is this really true? Does anyone have any pics of older dolls? Is it a bad not natural looking yellow? I love her sculpt, but I'd be sad if she yellowed alot.

    16. that's my main reason for postponing to purchase an AS...i thought i would start a layaway this month but apparently, after reading some opinion, hmm, i'll just postpone it...i knew resin will be yellowing but i don't think, i'll need it faster...('_')''''...

i made a thread french resin vs urethane ...a lot of opinion there...you can search by that words, though, in debate...

    17. I got my AS Gus now and he is normal body for posing it's not bad but they string it a bit tight but I don't really care about it. He's my first BJD so I can't tell anything much but I think for who interest in AS body senior body is better choice.:)

    18. I'm pretty sure that AS uses some sort of UV-ray protectant in their resin mixture of some sort to help prevent yellowing. I have a Gus from them and he's just about 2 years old and I did buy him in pure white-true, he's no longer as paper white as he used to be, but I'd be very hesitant to actually call him yellow, more like a cream color which is still rather nice.

From what I can tell he hasn't yellowed all to much more drastically than any of my other non-white, non-french resin dolls. Granted, I do take abit more extra care with him and keep him in his drawer until I play with him at night and keep him to indoor meet-ups only, but I honestly don't think his yellowing is nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

    19. @Inky Bear: the good thing about french resin is (from what i read again...) it tends to yellowing 'gracefully'..haha...i mean, when it comes to yellow, the color is still good...

    20. Yeah, I'm not as worried after reading a little more about it. French resin might just be made out to be a little worse than it actually is. And if the yellowing isn't an awkward color and tends to be more natural I don't think I'll mind. I really have my heart set on Manjusaka! She's so pretty!
