1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Anyone else end up with an insane excess of supplies? (eyes, wigs, eyelashes, etc.)

Oct 28, 2013

    1. I have TOO MANY WIGS. I have maybe 2 pairs of eyes, 3 pairs of shoes, 2 outfits and 10+ wigs. For one doll. For some reason I keep thinking that maybe I will want to change her look or it'll click with her character in mind, not that that is even set in stone, but there's been nothing I'm in love with.

I also keep saying I'm "changing her look," then turn around and 75% of my wigs are blonde so there's not even that much variety. Woops.

    2. Anyone else end up with a TON of extra stuff as you've tried things out along the way?

      Yes. :...(

I have lazy, packrack and hoarder tendencies. And two big bins full of wigs. 4 big bins full of clothes. 1 big bin full of shoes. etc. :doh

I have to try and weed through it all some day and put stuff up for sale some day...

    3. april, hehe, a woman after my own heart! *hugs*

    4. I have a few dolls, but my excess item seems to be eyes, several pair, and not a thing to do be done with them, I do keep them around for new dolls to see if they'll look better than the default though :|

    5. Not really, no. I do have a lot of stuff. I've been collecting dolls of all kinds for years, but I usually do end up using most of the stuff eventually. I have more than once gone to thin out thinking I'd never use a particular thing many times only to end up using it after all. If I get rid of something it's usually because I have more than one duplicate, I genuinely feel I don't have much use for it, or very occasionally because I realize it would make a great trade and get me something I really want. It's rare though for me to sell stuff because I have come to realize that even if I don't think I might need it I sometimes might later.

    6. omg it's a nightmare of crap over here. Pieces of outfits, towers of plastic drawers, hellish.
I told my BDF (best dolly friend) that if she saw me buying one more pair of doll eyelashes to just kill me.

    7. I'm sure I have the first pair of eyes I ever bought, and all their buddies that arrived over the years. Along with bins of wigs, shoes and clothes. I can't get rid of things, because I might NEED them someday. ;)

    8. I have far too many eyes, and they all seem to be the exact same color....

    9. hehe lots of other packrats here I see. I'm in good company!

Ug! I know the feeling! I was looking for just the right metallic pale blue eyes for one of my boys and I kept finding eyes that weren't quite the right color/not the same color as online (kept having slight green tints in them) when they arrived so I have a hand full of metallic light blue eyes that are all very slight shades different.

    10. I kind of have packrat syndrome as well, can`t be helped, i`m becoming quite the hoarder! lol! Ironically, when I went through some of my stuff that i`ve purchased over the years, i`ve found a package of three sets of eyes for evanghline ghastly that I didn`t realize I even had! I have a couple of wigs I bought a little while back from ringdoll, but I don`t even have anything to put them on, yet. Dearie me!

    11. Nope! I wish I could build up an excess, but I still don't even have one pair of eyes or a wig for each of my dolls!

Eventually, I do plan to buy a bulk order of eyes and wigs (just need to set aside the funds for it), and will probably include some 'back-ups' in those orders (so that if certain colours/sizes don't work, I don't need to pay even more in shipping). But until then, I definitely don't have any excess of supplies :XD:

    12. I've been in the hobby for years, and I tend to shop accessories every couple of months. And over time, I've sold dolls who have amassed large collections of items, leaving me with clothes that fit no one aren't the right style for the leftover dolls.

      I'm also lazy, and don't feel like taking photos of every item I've purchased in order to sell... so I sometimes daydream of having a dolly swapmeet one of these days ^^;

One way I help to cut down on the clutter is, when I sell a doll, I send some extras along. I don't usually send clothes or items that were specifically that doll's because I'd feel weird seeing a doll I owned with all the same stuff on ^^; but I have so much stuff for every size, it's easy to find something to send with the doll!

I also donate things to local newbies in the hobby, and I use items to trade for other items at meets.

It's tough! I'm obsessed with doll-sized things and I tend to forget I have no space for them. My apartment is so small, and both me and my roommate collect BJDs, so we have a lot of doll stuff between us and about ten dolls each at the moment. To make matters worse, we've gotten to that part of the hobby where we want to make/craft things on our own, which means we need space for supplies... ugh!

    13. Me. God, I think I have this obsession with eyes and I buy them in almost every shade of color I like but the thing is.. I hardly change them on my darlings because I find it such a hassle or I find a particular one that looks brilliant and that stays for a long long time. It's almost ridiculous, really. T____T

BUT THEY LOOK SO GOOD ALL LAID OUT AND SORTED ACCORDING TO SHADE AND COLOR.

    14. i have boxes of wigs/eyes sorted by size and whether i think i will ever use them on a doll or not, but i'm so far too lazy to take the "not" box out and photograph them all and try and figure out prices and shipping to sell them. that seems to be what holds me back from clearing them out, all those little decisions, and the fact that shipping anything from here is so expensive, and im afraid they'll get lost in the mail. it all just seems to be to big of a hassle so i leave them in the box and hoard them instead :sigh

    15. Eyes, I love them and like to look at them in their boxes. lol..I don't even care if I ever use them on a doll. It would be difficult to sell them even if I wanted to because I have eyes from so many different companies and I cannot remember what's from where.

    16. Eyelashes and lots of D.Eye.Y self customized eyes.

    17. Well, I don't think you can have too many eyes personally. I always need eyes, and there's just never what I want in my box. I really regret selling off the extras earlier on in my BJD "career".

But wigs....omg I have so many. I've stopped selling them too, as you never know when you'll need them. And they're almost all extras for my dolls, so they "belong" to someone already. It's kind of ridiculous...

    18. Somehow I wound up with four dolls.....and nine wigs. Oops? :sweat
at least I know that if someone new comes in unexpectedly, they won't run around bald!

    19. That's happen to me right now too!

    20. I just started this hobby and I don't have too much stuff for my boy but I notice that I keep wanting to buy shirts. So far he only has two outfits but there will be more on its way. I might have to find something bigger than my little box I store all of his stuff in.

I also have an addiction to buying him tiny electronics, accessories and other stuff. I received purses and a hat from Soul Doll that he'll never use. He also already has a spare wig and extra hands.
