1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Anyone has a Charm Doll - Eetu?

Dec 28, 2023

    1. I'd love to see a photo of someone who purchased him, he has been my #1 for many months and i'm almost accepting the fact that if I buy him while I'm living here i'll pay over his price in taxes... Still, really want him, but afraid of two things:

      1. Afraid he's gonna get yellow and I can only imagine him with the same skin as the promos, no idea what he'd look like with different skin tone (plus i like the idea of him being albino - i'd buy with girl body though, so her)

      2. Afraid if I don't like this doll it will be difficult to sell. The reason is it's limited, and has still been available for quite some time...

I could buy another, but i'm scared if he's sold out i'll never forget him D: help! (i do have tons of dolls on my wishlist though)

Edit: also, i'll be moving away from here who knows when, ir around a year I suppose, and i'm afraid it will be extremelly difficult carrying him and all these other tiny dolls i'm buying (blind box bjds, licca chan, etc)

    2. I don't have pictures of the doll you are looking for, but:

      1. Resin does not yellow that fast :) resin bjds these days are a lot more stable than they used to be and unless you pop your doll into direct sunlight every day you probably won't even notice the gradual mellowing over the years. However, the skintone in real life almost always looks a little different than on photoshopped company photos so you might want to look for owner pictures of Charm Dolls in white skin just in case.

      2. It's true, dolls shift slow on the second hand market these days - don't let it put you down too much, though! While it's best to buy something you will keep for sure, you just can't know until you have it in your hands. We sometimes make things harder for ourselves than they need to be by wanting the first of the collection to be *perfect* in every way but it's not really attainable in reality and might put you up for disappointment you would otherwise not have. So if you yearn for the doll, get the doll! If you are unsure, let the thoughts sit for a bit and get something you are more drawn towards! If you don't end up liking them, you can sell them, even though it'll be a bit of a loss money-wise (take it as a dolly tax - you'll end up paying for your time with them, but you'll also get something back from passing it on - it's like selling anything else used second hand). Oh, and don't let the popularity or unpopularity of something change your mind!

Customs are a lot sometimes, but you can't really bypass them - if you get your doll with free shipping (like through Alice's) it'll be a lot less than it could be, though (as shipping and insurance will also be taxed)! There are online customs tax/duty calculators you can use ahead of time so you don't get spooked by the number when it arrives at least. I wouldn't make "paying over something's price" an argument that can tamper with your enjoyment of the doll because it'll just be a difficult thought loop to be stuck in and we'll all end up doing it any way one way or another :sweat If you can afford the doll with all the costs it comes with, I recommend just not thinking about it's total price too much in the end or you'll needlessly send yourself spiralling over it. Not to diminish that it is a very expensive hobby! But it's not the only value that counts in it - hobbies are supposed to be fun and bring joy! A gaming console or Warhammer figurines cost money all the same.

Since you're worried about moving with your dolls - you can put them safely in a parcel and mail them out to arrive ahead of you! After all, this is how they get to you in the first place. I'd advise against putting resin into checked luggage but even a 1/3 doll can fit in a carry-on as well, should you need to fly. There are many ways to cross that bridge once it comes to it :)

Whoops I wrote a whole novel - hope it helps you a little bit :sweat

    3. Thank you so much for answering ♥

      1. That makes me so much more relaxed! I will buy that baby!!!

      2. Do you know what happen to be the reason for the dolls to shift slow these days? Is it because of the economic crisis? I know that being a freelancer, i'm seeing less sales on my work these days after the pandemic ended... It feels like it's dry season :| I like the dolly tax thought! There's a chance I won't ever want to sell her though, we will see, it's just there are so many beautiful dolls, and since I don't have any resin BJD yet I go crazy for many at once and don't know where to start, but Eetu is the one that I've been the most certain about (that is currently in stock), so I should definitely buy her!

About the taxes i'm currently checking what has been the experience of my fellow countrymen with the company selling marking a cheaper price... Rules have tightened in the last couple months, but if it passed for them i'm gonna try the same! And if not, i'll do it normal, I think it's worth the risk even if I have to pay her over her price in taxes (ouch, gonna hurt but I'm set on buying her!)

I'm a total noob about that, so what's a "parcel"? Would it go by ship and would I have to pay taxes over my things again since it's another country?

Also, why is it safer to send in a parcel than in checked in luggage? Is it because they throw luggages? (they don't throw things in the mail?) Do you know how much could a 26 cm doll weight? and what about a 40 cm? :0 (i'm here trying to figure out how much weight I will be able to carry on my carry on lol, my laptop is already around 5 kg (11 pounds).

    4. It's less the economic crisis and more that there is so much choice available - so people tend to buy new instead unless it's significantly cheaper second hand. It's not that nothing sells ever! It just takes a long time and a lot of price drops most of the time.

A parcel is another word for a package :) Whether it goes by ship or plane is something you can choose when picking the courier and shipping method, and yes, you'll have to pay shipping and customs fees again (unless it travels in the same economic area - I don't know where you are based so I can't help you with more exact info on that - all countries' customs have a website with the info).

When you send a parcel, you have mre control over tracking and better options with insurance in comparison to checked luggage. (Parcels also get tossed around in transit so do pack it well, though!).

When your luggage gets lost, it's much harder to track down and airlines are not particularly helpful on that front (+ the huge ground crew crisis we have right now) - depending on your travel insurance you will get some money back perhaps, but that limit is pretty low. There is a reason why they advise you not to put anything of great value in the suitcase that is not with you at all times :sweat

It depends on the exact doll, of course, but generally, both 1/6 and 1/4 dolls should be under the 1kg mark. So honestly just wrap your doll in something soft and take it with your laptop, a 26cm bjd is not heavy and doesn't take a lot of space on its own. There is often an option to buy heavier cabin luggage if you are afraid you go over their weight limit.

Just start with one and see how it is :) you'll get a much better idea about bjds and what you like about them when you actually get to handle one.

I don't see Eetu in stock anywhere, though, so it might be a bit of a wait - limited dolls are also made-to-order so make sure you know how long it is going to be before you buy. Good luck with your first doll!
