1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Are ball joints ugly?

Sep 30, 2008

    1. There are some joints that I don’t like from certain companies. Like I hate the way some elbows and knees look when bent or how some body sculpts have more bulbous joints. So I can see why someone who isn’t used to articulated dolls would find them ugly.

    2. Perhaps this, as in many other aspects, is a matter of taste. Some people have a very specific sense of beauty. There is also a possibility that if someone cannot stand the sight of joints at all, then they have some kind of phobia or something similar. We all had different experiences in our lives and you never know how it could affect our perception of different things.
Therefore, it is difficult to advise someone who does not like the look of the joint at all, if I myself find them extremely charming. After all, it is they who make these dolls the way they are. This of course does not change the fact that I may not like joints in any particular version. Although even then I can get used to them, if they perform their role well and are sufficiently movable.

    3. Again, a matter of taste, but under the impression of the photos found today, I want to add that if something scares me, it’s blurring of joints in photoshop.
I don't want to offend anyone at all, people try to make photos the way they want them to be. But without the joints, the doll starts to look so unnatural. As if it is losing what makes it itself (i know i already said that). I am dropped into the uncanny valley every time i see blurred joints.
But maybe joints themselves make people who don’t like them feel something similar.
