1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

are fake eyelashes neccessary?

Oct 17, 2014

    1. I was told that putting two layers of false eyelashes will be good thing to do for my dolls!

    2. I don't care for them for the most part. I put them on a few of my dolls, one because I draw, and I always draw him with ridiculously long eyelashes so it's a character thing...one recently because he would wear fake eyelashes. But with the rest of my dolls I don't bother. Sometimes it's because they obscure the eyes so much it bothers me (I put them on some of my dreaming dolls to purposely make them look sleeping), but most of the times it's because they just look fake to me. And really, the argument that "humans have them, therefore so must my dolls!" is a little silly IMO. Humans have a lot of things dolls don't, so why are eyelashes so important? I'm not about to cover my dolls with body hair because "humans have it!!!!", they're just dolls. They don't need everything living people have.

The other reason I don't like them, is because they're just a pain. I hate putting them in, they easily get smushed or fall out. I don't want to deal with that.

So put eyelashes in your dolls if you like them, but if you don't or don't care...who cares? Don't put them in. No one can tell you how to style your dolls. Do what you want.

    3. Hmmm, it depends on the sculpt and the faceup, IMO. Some dolls can get away without having any. Though personally, I think eyelashes give a doll a finished look.

One of my dolls has a faceup by an artist called Rabiruna, and she has a double layer of individually placed eyelashes. Hers look so realistic and full, very feminine! Definitely the best out of all my dolls.

    4. I think it definitely depends on the faceup in general. Eyelashes always look really gritty to me, so idk if i'd ever use any on my own dolls. (I'm really curious tho and I might try to see what they look like before crossing them out completely)

    5. I have eylashes only on my DearMine kitty, 'cause she looks more "girly" with them. My boy doesn't have them, even though almost everyone told me: "He would look better with them." No. Really, I love him the way he is. So... no eylashes!
But I think that it depends on doll itself, on character, face up... well... lots of things. Yeah, dolls look more realistic with it, but I don't think its necessary. We all likes different things so I don't care about small thing like eylashes are :D

    6. I feel like eyelashes are the finishing step to any of my faceups; not all of my dolls currently have them, but eventually they're all meant to get them, with the exception of the tiniest ones (a PukiPuki and a DZ Eudora--both of them have eyes that are just too small). That does include the guys, who look lovely with their eyelashes installed!

    7. I'm a little obsessed and picky about them. If the lashes aren't in...I don't consider the faceup finished and the doll will be an incomplete doll. It makes me not want to take photos of them or even look at them.

Also...I don't like it when the doll is blond or albino...and they have BLACK eyelashes? Does that even happen in real life? I consider that an unprofessional oversight on the faceup artists' part (they obviously didn't ask owners what hair color the doll has before they stuck it on) or plain laziness on the owners' part. It doesn't matter how gorgeous the faceup is, I deduct marks for that. I actually have an albino doll who has black eyelashes and it gets me every time I look at her. I do plan to yank them off some day...just haven't found the right replacements yet.

      It's strange...but yeah...that's me.
