1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Are there tell-tale signs it's a Volks (or whatever) wig?

Mar 26, 2022

    1. I got so involved with playing with my BJDs that I foolishly neglected to keep track of which wig belonged to which doll (originally). Now, I find myself trying to put back together some full-set dolls but having a hard time identifying the right wig. I love the manufacturers who actually put labels and sizes in their wigs (thank you, jpop!) but- at least when I was a big buyer - Volks was not one of them. Is there some way to identify a Volks wig? Or other manufacturer (unlabeled) wigs?

    2. If it's a fullset doll, you could probably find pictures of how it originally looked to help you identify which wig belongs to it?

    3. Yeah, I can usually find at least one photo but I'm absolutely terrible at facial recognition, let alone hairstyles (3 cornea transplants, not that anyone asked) and so I need more than a couple photos.

    4. Maybe get some help from a friend or family member with better eye sight. If you know the doll is Volks and what it's original name was you should be able to find a few photos. If your on Flickr you can find a lot more with a search there.

    5. I’ve bought a ton of wigs second hand so I have this problem. No idea where any wigs are from.

    6. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'd think it would be in the company's best interests to put their label/brand inside their wigs but itseems to be the exception, not the rule.
