Are you bothered by seams????

Apr 12, 2010

    1. I haven't had a doll with bad seams yet; my DOC is pretty smooth. I was scared thinking he had a crack on an inner part of his elbow, but in different lighting I saw it was a seam. I think, from pictures, I'd be bothered to death by seams on parts that show. I want to get used to sanding so I can fix it myself, so even if a company offered, I wouldn't pay for them to do it.

    2. Nope- I don't really mind if my doll looks like a doll XD plus, I always order my dolls blank and nekkid, so I pretty much expect to be handling the sanding of seams (if I so desire it) by myself.

    3. Seams don't bother me too much unless they're REALLY there. I can deal with little ones here and there.. good blushing I think can really take away from the seams so, really I don't think it's too much to worry about.

Espeically with the darker resins which are .. well really ridiculous to try and do it I hear. You get all the uneveness and such.

But yeah, seams... not really a big peeve of mine. XD

    4. I'm not really bothered by them, but I'm generally easy going, and things that usually bother others have to be pointed out for me to even notice them.
But I understand how time consuming sanding is. I'd rather get my doll sooner, than pay for someone else to sand the doll and wait longer, when I can do it myself.
      It's time consuming, but easy.

    5. seams dont really bother me as long as it's not obvious (like really bad seam lines and crooked ones). i used to think i'll sand them, but really, the trouble of it is just not worth it, so i never tried. but seam lines in those black and white photos that focuses on playing with lighting bothers me, because the seams cast a shadow. haha. but then, they're not my dolls so...

    6. No but then again I haven't had a doll with bad, sharp, ugly looking ones. Josslyn doesn't have seams and Peyton's barely register unless I look for them. The only doll I actively looked for seams on was Adia because she can't be rid of them. Thankfully hers are very small, neat, and straight. They're also in areas hidden by clothing or not obvious (inside arms and back of the legs).

    7. At first seams do bother me. I even tried to sand them (but failed). Then after a while I got used to them and don't bother me anymore.

    8. I generally want my dolls to have clear and smooth skin, though these seams are part of being a BJD doll
my Bluefairy emilie has some not so visible seams and My twin Too & Bee-A has almost no seam at all...

    9. Nope. I kinda like them, as long as they aren't crazy looking.

    10. l actually enjoy running my finger along the seams of my doll. But they are barely noticeable. ^^

    11. My Pukipuki didnt come with seams visible enough to look like cracks, but when a little dust gets in them, making them noticable, I do get a little annoyed. I would get annoyed with seams that are very visible on the face, but on the body I wouldnt care as much, because my dolly wears clothes all the time.

    12. I'm not bothered by seams at all! Pekoe and Phoenix (both Resinsoul kiddos) came with their seams sanded off already, which was great for a first-time buyer like me. That being said, I didn't have any experience with seams until Shen came home. Even then it wasn't really a surprising thing for him to have a few visible seams. I was expecting it because I chose the "no sanding" option and had heard about seams from other people here. For the most part he's pretty smooth, but on the outside of his left thigh, there is a noticeable seam line. When he isn't wearing his long pants, I like to run my fingernail across the seam. It's great for bonding, IMHO. I seem to be in the minority when I say that I really like seams! :)

    13. If I brush against the doll and it hurts, I will sand the seams. Otherwise I won't unless the doll always exposes certain parts that have seams and I'm not feeling lazy. XD;

    14. I don't mind them simply because they're not really noticeable on my boy unless if I look for them, or run my fingers over them.

    15. My DOC Wi has seams on his arms that really stand out. They don't bother me and I can easily remove them myself. But when I got him I was far too scared to try anything that could remotely damage him. Now I don't want to do it because he has yellowed a bit.

    16. Not any more than I am bothered by visible joints...to me, they're a far less noticeable evil.

    17. Generally no Im not bothered enough to go to the trouble of romving them. There has been an occasional really gnarly seam or two that I did remove, but mainly just if it impedes mobility

    18. I've posted here before but now I've had a doll who came sanded as well, not just dolls with seams. I still don't mind seams at all, I almost never notice them really. When I recieved my one doll I didn't know she would come sanded. I had her out, handled her, took pictures... but the only reason I EVER noticed she was sanded probably... was because someone else mentioned it in a thread. So needless to say - not a big deal to me if I can't even notice when they dont have them lol.

    19. It doesn't bother me, I mean heck one of my dolls has the seams and has had them for over a year because I'm not skilled in sanding them down and I'm too cheap to pay someone to do it, lol.

    20. i don't mind my dolls having seams. i'm not really confident enough to try sanding them myself yet but i might sometime in the future.
nobody ever sees my dolls apart from me anyway and if i want to post photos online it's easy enough to edit out the seams in the pictures if i wanted to that badly.
