It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Are you bothered by seams????

Apr 12, 2010

    1. THE DREADED SEAMS!!!!! I don't mind seams as long as from a distance you can't see them, but if you can see it very well I try to sand it down without messing up the resin.

    2. I just took a look at my dolls, and I must say, Dear Mine sands most of their seams down. There are only a couple, and those are on the insides of the upper arms. My Pukipuki is worse though. What I don't understand about seams is why some companies, like DM, will sand, but a big company like FL or Soom won't?

    3. I don't particularly mind the look of them so long as my finger doesn't catch on them. I've only had one thing with seams that bad though.

    4. i don't think seams would be a big problem for me, because my pukipuki has them and they don't bother me, but if they where super bad i would probably risk a good sanding.

    5. Nope, as long it not interfere the face sculpt =D

    6. Na not too much. If they are really that bad to bother me it would be a defect.

    7. I have never taken notice of the seams until now. I mean I know they are there but they never really caught my full attention. But they still do not bother me.

    8. I cant stand seams I hate them. I will probably only ever get dolls when I know they will come without seams. It may sound mean or what not but It would bother me to much to see seams on one of my dolls. And I think it should come standard for every company to sand the dolls seams. But thats just my opinion. I know my DollZone Rosemary has no seams what so ever. And she is just gorgeous. Dollzone is known to sand there seams and its part of the reason I love them so much. Though sadly there are some dolls I like that I know will have seams :( I doubt I will ever get them unless I learn to sand seams myself!

My next doll is gonna be a RingDoll Dian and RingDoll is also known for sanding their seams. And right now Im saving up for a Dollshe Orijean and I know dollshe offers a sanding service. All my dolls I have planned out to buy come from companies that sand the seams or offer to sand them. Seams just urk my nerves and I would gladly pay extra to have them removed. I hate even seeing pictures of dolls with seams. I would rather my girl have dents in her (she has one in her hand) then for her to have even a slight seam.

    9. I didn't think I was bothered by seams until I recently got my sweet little Beau, a Limhwa Mono. His seams are absolutely horrific, and as soon as the weather improves enough for me to work outside, I'm putting on my mask and getting out my sandpaper. He has one seam line on his hip in particular that looks like a scar from some terrible accident or something. I may actually leave that one and blush it to be a "scar". But yeah...I am really bothered by his seams. I have other dolls with visible seam lines, but they don't bother me nearly as much, because they're not rough and overly noticeable.

    10. One of my doll has the craziest seam lines. Instead of being straight, they are really wavy. I'd imagine that they would be a horror for someone using their dolls for photography - though, they could always be fixed. It didn't bother me enough to sand them down or anything.

    11. I don't really mind seams, as long as they aren't in the middle of the face ^^
Two of my dolls have some seams in their arms and legs, but it doesn't look that bad, and I barely see them.
But I understand owners can't stand them, as dolls are expensives, they shouldn't be covered by seams ...

    12. That's what the seam on Beau's hip is like; really jagged instead of straight. Even though that's the worst one, I'm not as fussed about it as I am about the seams on his arms and lower legs. I do use my dolls for photography, and I'm not happy at how visible these particular seams are. It's mostly a horror to me though because the seams are actually quite rough to the touch and actually seem to be excess resin ridges instead of just visible lines.

    13. Fairyland barely has visible seamlines, (At least, mine do), so I only notice them when I specifically try to find them.
They don't really bother me at all, but if it was a distracting part of the body, I would probably get it fixed up a bit. :)

    14. Seam lines are something I'm living with at the moment but they do bother me a lot. I suppose I will have my boy sanded one day but not now.
      now

    15. not really, but sometimes some doll has more hard seam line than other dolls...

    16. Yes. Seams on things that cost this much? Sorry, sandpaper for the company should be included in that.

    17. I used to be bothered by seams and I carefully removed them. After a while, it was a lot of work so I just left the seams alone. If the seam is really bad, I'll remove it, but I mainly just ignore it.

    18. I'm bothered by seams, but not enough to pay companies to sand them for me! I prefer to sand them myself.

    19. For the most part, I've had no problems with seams. My Two.S.Doll, Island Doll, Dream High Studio Doll, and IMPLDoll all are smooth with basically no seam to be found. However, my Limhwa girl has noticeable seams, but she's tan skin so I understand why she does. Since sanding could cause discoloration for her, I try to ignore the seams. Of course they bother me, but seams are just something I realize I'll have to deal with on tan dolls. I don't know if their normal skin dolls have sanded seams or not.

    20. I don't think I've ever seen "seams." :? I guess it would bother me a little bit if it were my doll, but again...have never really seen these. Perhaps they're uncommon or I just haven't seen many dolls?
