Are you bothered by seams????

Apr 12, 2010

    1. I just ignore them. XD
Every doll I bought come with seams, and if they appear on photo, just photoshop them.

    2. I hate seams on dolls and in my mind they spoil the illusion of the doll being " a real person" if they show on photos. I have always sanded all my dolls and I don´t think it is annoying. I actually enjoy making my dolls "perfect" by sanding the seams and generally when I can spend time with them. Of course it would be nice if they came without seams but I don´t want to pay for the job when I can do it by myself.

    3. I don't have a safe place to sand resin, so if I want sanded seams I need to either buy from companies that sand all their dolls or pay for sanding. I don't mind paying for sanding, but I'd rather have it as an aesthetic option rather than a necessity to make the doll usable if the doll's initial price is already high.

    4. i don't mind the seams on my grail bjd (soom amber pure spirit), i like it. it's like a birth mark.

    5. I really don't mind seams.... I feel like my grail BJD a Unoa will have seams and there is not much I can do about it.
Being new to the BJD world. I do feel a little intimated by sanding and putting together my own doll... I wish there was an easier way to go about all of it.

    6. Only a little. It's okay for them to be there, they just can't stick out too bad. Visible is fine, but not pokey. After all, it is how they're made. Kinda like our belly button.

    7. For me it would depend on if the seams were showing or not. If the seam is covered by clothes all the time, then I wouldn't care. But if the seam is really bad and shows, I would be bothered by it. I personally think seams look unprofessional, but I understand those who don't mind them. I just would sand them if they bothered me.

    8. I wouldn't mind if a doll I bought had seams unless they were those sharp ones I've heard about, since it comes with the territory of molding and stuff. That's not going to stop me from sanding them myself should the doll have them, though. I don't fault them for existing but I don't find them aesthetically pleasing either.

    9. I'm mixed about seams for a few reasons...
My first doll is from Doll family. Dolls from companies with similar molding technique have very light to zero seams (yay)

My second and third doll are both tan skin so have seams. My msd sized one has the worst seams but clothes cover most except for one i can file my nails on (if i wanted to) on his hand it's just annoying since it has chipped my nail more than once.
My third one is an SD and has seams everywhere but they don't bother me much as they are cover able.

I do feel we are dishing out hundreds of dollars on these dolls they should be perfect in every way. However resin is dangerous to inhale I'd rather they not expose themselves excessively for just a seam line. After all shaped chocolate have seams too and a box of truffles from a chocolate factory (fancy one) can set you back near a hundred or more bucks and your eating them lol.

    10. I'm not bothered by the seams at all. It's part of what I consider "the bjd look". I love seams a lot.

    11. I don't like them. I feel seeing one pays a lot for the dolls, they could sand them routinely.

    12. i agree, it seems like with how much we are paying for them they could do that as part of the process.

    13. Not unless they're sharp enough to cut me. Then I've got issues!

    14. I don't really care about the seams. I don't know why but I just think the lines as a part of a doll.

    15. Yes, they are bothering me when they are too visible.
Mostly the seams of my dolls are okay but my last girl looks like she was made in a hurry. Her seams are quite bothering me especially from her makers, I'm used to better from them.

    16. Seam lines bother me for sure! A seam reminds me of a generic or largely manufactured doll, such as a Barbie doll. If I received a doll with seams I would commission someone to sand it.

    17. To me not bother me too much, the truth

    18. I haven't given this much thought. I don't think seams would bother me but I also haven't seen a doll with heavy seams. In theory I don't mind seams on dolls.

    19. Yes, except on a tan doll where seams are pretty much unavoidable. Dolls are expensive and I expect companies to go to the extra effort of sanding them off before I receive the doll. It just come across as cutting corners to me, which I can't stand if I've dropped a lot of money on a doll.

    20. I was when I first got my girl, she had huge seamlines and they drove me up a wall. As time has gone on though, I've gotten used to them and find them special on her.
