1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Are your dolls characters?

Feb 12, 2015

    1. I created the character to fit the doll before she got here but now that I've had her for a while I've started to evolve her character and now she has a girlfriend that she just can't wait to get here and I've had the character for that girlie for a long time now

    2. I named my doll after a character I have because she suited the personality and look. However, it's more like my doll is inspired by my character, but isn't necessarily the character herself--something like that. On that note, I mainly think about colors, so having a character in mind with a color palette and certain style helps a lot with keeping me focused on what types of clothes and accessories to get. Otherwise, I'd get things on a whim, which happens to my own wardrobe. *_*
I also have 2 other characters from different little stories I'd like to apply to dolls someday~

    3. The dolls I have and the ones on my wishlist all have characters and backstories in varying degrees of development. Some of the dolls were picked because they resemble characters I'd already come up with. Others like my Miss Kitty, Cat Sidhe I chose, then developed a character around them afterward.

    4. My dolls are characters, But I didn't really have a story before I got Avian.

    5. Yes, my dolls are characters! All of them, except my first one, were characters before they were dolls. My first one I created a story for. The rest of them already had a story and then I went on to shell their characters.

    6. Oh, yes. All of my dolls are crafted after my own OCs. It's so much fun to see my characters come to life. : D

    7. Not all of my dolls are characters because of the story. Some of them are tinies or animals Bjd and I do not know what story they can get.

    8. I have only just got into the hobby, at first i just liked the dolls. But while waiting for my first doll to arrive i started thinking about how she looked and what she might be. I got RS Bei with white skin, and she has the elf ears so i figured she was dainty and pure like a fairy, that is what she will be. I now have a hujoo minipin bunny too and decided he was a knight of the bun (round) table! I plan to make miniature chainmail and a mount for him. Making characters has added to the enjoyment for me, with the ideas of elaborate costumes and companion animals, bears etc. I have always like writing poetry and stories so maybe this is the next step!

    9. Oh definitely! I have characters in my head I don't even have dolls yet for and if I buy a doll without a character in mind for them, I have to think one up. Keeping the doll is dependent on whether of not I can think of a character for them. I can't get attached to a doll without a storyline.

    10. at the beginning it was more like "I like him/her" and stop. Now I have created an entire universe for them and I choose my other dolls only if they fit in this fantastic world (if I really like the sculpt every doll can fit XD). My dolls are spirits of the forest or hybrid that live in there. Only my first doll is "free" and she's not connected with the other.

    11. I thought that my dolls needed a character at first, but I came to live with the fact that sometimes dolls are just dolls! :D

    12. 2 of my fairyland dolls frozen and crystal are not characters right now, but I want to write story about them. The others are characters from the books I write, and I want a ciel and sebastian, which would be characters of a anime I like.

    13. My doll is just a doll, I'm afraid. But a very beautiful and much loved doll! I think if I had tried to pick a doll with a particular character in mind, I'd risk losing interest in the character and thus the doll! That said, I guess I do think of her as having a sort of personality, but it's really just based on her face/expression, haha.

    14. My dolls are characters. I have a character in mind when I buy them, and if I buy one and I do not have a character in mind then I create one. The creation of a character just happens, it is how I bond with my dolls.

    15. So my doll started with nothing (no name no personality) but he quickly "told me " who he was and it just spiraled out of control from that point so now I get dolls to fit characters from his story I have to like them as dolls before I can like them as a certain character so in essence I'm still shopping for pretty dolls first then assigning them a character

    16. Like most of us (I think), my dolls represent a character I have in mind. Each of them represent a certain aspect or personality I know I posses, and a personality/attitude I abhor. :D

    17. I won't be able to purchase my first doll for a few months, but she (and almost certainly any dolls who follow) will be physical representations of the characters I draw/ write about.

    18. My dolls have their own personalities, but aren't based on the characters from any of my stories. I reused names, but they are their own people. I have some dolls in my sights I want to get to shell my story characters, but surprisingly that wasn't mt first intention.

    19. So far, my doll isn't a character and doesn't have a backstory; she just... is :XD: I suppose I have vague ideas about what type of personality she has given the clothes she likes to wear, but other than that, character development is not on my mind. I've got plans to get other BJDs eventually, but they aren't to shell characters either.

    20. All of my dolls are characters! I've utterly failed to just buy dolls for the sake of having dolls. If I can't fit a character into something I buy then it usually doesn't last.
