Are your dolls close to your age?

Character-wise... Pete's older than me by quite a bit-- or he would be, if he was living in the present? Like, usually when I'm doing stuff with him, he's his younger self, so anywhere between 18 to 30-ish instead of what his present-day age would be. So... sometimes I do feel like Pete's about my age, but not always.

It would be interesting fast-forwarding things, since then I'd also have to make a LTF who wears dinosaur jammies look like a grown man somehow. But I don't really do photostories much at the moment, and it's been a long time since I've actually written out stories about their characters anyway, so I guess that doesn't matter.


Vince doesn't have a chronological age, really... like, because he's not human, he's exactly as old as he is, but his intellectual and emotional age just really bounces around.

 

No, I'm starting to get fairly old, and I suspect my dolls will always be forever young and pretty.

 

There's roughly 20 years between me and all the dolls I'm planning stories for. I find teenagers generally way less interesting than adults I guess.

 

Same as the replies above, I tend to write my characters to be around my age (early 20s) or younger since it's much easier to write about something that you've already lived past and experienced before. I could try my hand at writing for someone who is in their fifties or older, but I doubt it would feel really authentic without me at least consulting someone around that age first ^^; (that and also I'll need a sculpt to look that age first lol)

Yes! Most of my characters are lates teens/early twenties, so most of my dolls will be around the same ages as well. I'm 19, so they would be very close to my age. The only ones that wouldn't be are my fantasy characters, who are hundreds of years old.

 

Some are. Yosd sizes look like young children, so I can't set them my age :P One is the same age with me now, and some dolls are older than me :P Some dolls are younger than me

 

Except for one character, all mine are around my age (24), some a few years older and some a little younger.
I'm all fine with playing older characters and enjoy it, but I happen to find most comfort in playing the ones of around my age.

But most are under 18. I never really asked myself why... I'd love an Iplehouse male who would obvs be older. He would be very different than the others. I guess I have eclectic tastes.

 

Most of my dolls are older than me (28), with the exception of my YOSDs and hujoos and such.
A lot of my dolls center around one particular story, so the ages are anywhere between 17 and 40, with some characters having undefined ages because they're immortal, or age differently in the real world compared to their fantasy realm.
I picked ages that would be able to fit into the jobs, the scenarios and plots that happen, giving more relevance to the older characters when it's an incredibly high pressure situation. I try to keep some form of realistic behavior in this blend of real life and fantasy world.

 

I'm 27.

Niccolo and Az are 18-22 (their story follows them through college). Nick is 18-30 (originally he was 18 but then I switched him to a different story-verse where he's a wizard who knows a few spells for looking younger because he prefers not to explain how long he was in jail if he has to mention it at all). Epifan died at age 18, she's a vampire.

I have no idea how old my Clever Little is meant to be. lol, I never have any story for dolls I didn't plan.

My Pixiu is a vague age, the dragon equivalent of like 6-8 years old for people, I guess.

Saif is 14-18 ish? I dunno. I've been fussing with him since I both don't want to sell him but he's moved so far away from my current doll aesthetics.

Thomas is like somewhere between his 20s and his 30s. Downton Abbey covers like 10+ years of time in the story. Though the actor Rob James Collier is like mid-late 30s. He looks crazy young in season 1 though.

 

Mine are really close to my age haha. I'm 20 and two of my dolls are 19, ones 21 and ones 22 so I'm right in the middle there :3

 

None of my characters are anywhere near my age. They were when I first invented the storyline, but since then I've aged and...well, since they're all figments of my imagination they've stayed the same. Right now I'm twenty-nine years of age, while my characters are all either teenagers or ageless.
