Arg! Why are all boys so big??

May 28, 2014

    1. What do you think of this trend?

I love the big boys and find 70cm my favorite size so the more in this range the better for me (Not my bank balance though!).

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?

I already have my ultra skinny HZ 65cm boy but he does have muscles showing.

Do you love the big super hunks?

Yes! I have two Iplehouse SID boys and they are perfect for their characters.

      Do you want more options?

The more options the better. People come in all shapes and sizes and I think it would be great to see these options with bjds. Not all men (or many at all) have that amount of muscle definition. I think a lot of the companies are aiming for an ideal looking body not always so realistic. As many of us choose the body to suit a specific character it would be great to have a wider choice.

    2. What do you think of this trend?

I'm not a fan.. I want more boys in that lovely delfsize! My first boy are on a fdoll body and that's similar as the old delf. He looks so small now!

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?
Yes I am! More 55-60 cm boys thank you.

Do you love the big super hunks?
      Yes I DO!
But even if I love them.. an EID for example would look like a giant with all my small SDs! My unidoll ark included once he was the giant now he's average xD
      Do you want more options?
Yes and no.. I think my wallet like less options (A)

    3. I love all of the mature realistic male face sculpts that are coming out, but really, I'm not a fan of the gargantuan bodies of 70cm and up. I'd really just love to see a mature face sculpt and body in a 1/3 scale 60cm-ish doll. This is my biggest frustration right now and also why I don't have boy dolls because I can't find the sculpt I want in the size I want...and my girls really need some guys to hang out with!

    4. When doll body shopping, my ideal size range for SD boys is between 55-65cm. So while I've been awed by the trending size of these handsome men, I've also had the hardest time finding a body between 60cm and 65cm, not to mention one that is not ripped. 8;<

    5. I don't like the beefier look... I mean I don't have many beefy characters in general, and even the muscular ones I do have aren't as ripped at the options out there... and I'm starting to find it hard to find bodies that don't look like they go to the gym every day... I mean I'm all for diversity and such but I wish that they'd stick with the original stuff as well... like it'd be super cool if all sites had multiple types of bodies that you could mix any of the heads with 'cause sometimes people need weird combinations like the square jawed manly face on the scrawny geek body, or the could be a girl face on the super pumped body...

    6. I would looove a skinny (but not scrawny) boy from volks XD Mine is a crossdresser, so I can't find any female clothes that would fit his torso :( I have to have almost everything customized >.>

    7. What do you think of this trend?

I actually love this trend, haha. Well, at least with Iplehouse and SOOM. A lot of doll companies are simply making their bodies more muscular, but not necessarily bigger around, so it looks a little odd.

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?

Not really. All the male characters I have to shell are big guys. When I first got into the hobby, all you could find were skinny, more feminine and less mature boys. Elfdoll K and Dollshe were like, the manliest around.

Do you love the big super hunks?

Yep! Although I don't think I could handle an EID, I love the SID and nYID boys.

      Do you want more options?

I'm pretty satisfied. I think there's a good amount of options if you know where to look. In some cases, it means going for older dolls (like with Elfdoll, Souldoll, and SOOM, even)

    8. What do you think of this trend?
I love it! I came in on BJDs when NONE of the boys looked hunky at all. Even now I've 70cm dolls that are just wayyy too skinny (but can cosplay anime characters really well!)

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?
No. I am NOT about skinny little boys.

Do you love the big super hunks?
I don't like overly muscular guys so much but I'm glad they are available cause I needed 2 of them for character purposes. I like a not so beefy but muscular guy w/a 6 pack.

      Do you want more options?
I always want more options. Right now I've 2 EIDs (one a superhero body), an Idealian, a Souldoll (who is NOT super skinny thank goodness), 2 Angellstudio boys, 2 Dika doll boys, a Ringdoll & a Dollshe Saint. All around 70cm & a very nice variety of body types. Also have a Super Gem, an SID, a Volks SDGr, an Elfdoll boy - again a nice range of body types for the 65-68cm boys.

    9. I've noticed this too, as I've been in the hobby since 2008. I used to mainly own dolls around 60 cm and the smaller ones were meant to be children or some kind of faeries or spirits. Even the big ones were teenagers, their ages ranging from 15 to 18 years so I had no big problems with the childish bodies. I remember getting Angell Studio Andrea with the single-jointed body and there was basically no muscles at all. He was very childish and soft-looking. There's a difference between scrawny and childish though. I like my dolls being slim-built, but not childish. Now I have moved over to MSD size and the bodies are a real problem (faces too). Most companies still only offer childlike MSD's, but luckily the more mature ones are getting more and more common.

What do you think of this trend?

I like mature bodies. I don't like them to look like body builders, especially as face sculpts tend to be as childish as ever. Luts model delfs are a prime example of this. Abadon has some kind of maturity but the rest of them could be ten year old girls. Together with the super muscular body... No.

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?

Variety is a good thing. To me it seems that most companies still offer younger looking bodies, they've just added the muscle ones as an option. To continue with Luts, the third SDF boy body is quite scrawny. There's no muscles at all and no childlike roundness either. Having owned a SDF girl (1st type body) and a boy (2nd type) I must say that I was a little disappointed with their sizes. The boy was supposed to be her boyfriend, a bit older than her, all protective and MALE. But they ended up basically the same height (I think he was 1 cm taller and her having a big, curly wig... well) and he didn't seem to be bigger in any way. SDF male bodies really aren't that big. It would be nice for some companies to offer shorter dolls though.

Do you love the big super hunks?

Nope. Personally, I've always preferred slim muscles over bulking ones, so my doll preferences tend to follow this too. It's nice to have the option if I ever end up with a character like that, though. A mature MSD face to fit the body would be nice, though...

      Do you want more options?

More options is always good. Especially in the MSD size, where abovementioned mature bodies and faces are still a rarity. Only mature MSD male faces I've so far managed to find are Souldolls and Withdolls. Maybe MDF Abadon. Basically the rest are all soft cheeks and huge eyes. Body wise, Luts MDF's and minifees are quite nice, just as one or two other companies, but for me the problem isn't with bodies but the faces. To me, there still seems to be quite a lot of both scrawny and/or childish and mature and muscular bodies, in SD and MSD size both. I'm still waiting for the faces to catch up with this trend...

Agreed. Again with Luts, but seriously: what's wrong with the newer SDF female bodies? The b00bs seem to float in air and defy all laws of gravity...

    10. I am a fan of cute boys. So I would most likely prefer a smaller size.

    11. What do you think of this trend?

Actually, I'm in this trends now! I like healthy looked male body, even though I own some skinny dolls. But it's just up to which character. :) Only problem from this trend is, they aren't only growing by height but also by weight too. So it makes me have to work harder to take them go outside.

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?

Not so, I don't dislike skinny little boys but too skinny like DC...I'm kind afraid of them. Little skinny is alright but I prefer healthy boy more. Beefy or not is up to the age of characters I'm going to create.

Do you love the big super hunks?

Not super hunks :D IOS Class 80 body is still acceptable for me but more than that will be too big.

      Do you want more options?

Ummm...I think I don't have since there already has so many various boy body for us to choose ;)

    12. What do you think of this trend?
I imagine that it's just a trend and as soon as one doll company decides to be different and their doll becomes popular will it change the tides of the market.
I don't disapprove of these hunky men, but I do wish for more variety.

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?

Yes. I love tall, lanky figures on guys. I think it's a cute asthetic. DC might be a bit too much for what I'm looking for.

Do you love the big super hunks?

Some of them are not bad. I'm not sure I could handle that much resin, honestly.

      Do you want more options?

Yes, I feel like more body types need to be represented...not just in boys but in all dolls.
I would like to see some larger scale boys with relatively teenage like features. A bit scrawny and sweet but still able to be in scale with other SD sized dolls.

    13. theres always dollzone and doll chateau for skinny :)

i like little, scrawny, big and beefy. all of em. thats my problem. ;)

    14. I don't mind the beefier look. I do wish that the trend wasn't bigger=better though. I had a heck of a time finding 2 male dolls that were under 60cm as their characters required them to be a good bit shorter than the other two characters I currently have in-house (both 68cm). I did even eventually find them with the SD Vito line and the Impldoll Model line and the bodies on those are quite pleasing to me.

I do have a couple of characters that are built. Thankfully, they're not bugging me to come home. I like having the possible choice though of being able to bring home a beefy guy if the character demands it. I just wish that it wasn't all the 70+ guys who are that big. Miro Doll has a great looking beefy MSD which would suit me should the urge to bring home Tank ever become a burning need.

    15. It might be because I'm older but I really do like the buff bodies with older looking faces. They actually look like adults. I've seen a lot of youthful bodies with young faces and they sort of disturb me sometimes. I guess because the tall slender ones I've seen have an almost girl or baby boy face to them. The two just don't seem to match up with me.

    16. What do you think of this trend?
I think I'm through collecting dolls (especially SD-sized males) so it doesn't really matter much to me, but I'm not a fan of this trend at all. If my two 65 cm guys weren't limiteds in rare colors, I would have sold the bodies immediately and got smaller bodies for them.

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?
I would be if I was still collecting!

Do you love the big super hunks?
Not at all! Muscles, broad shoulders, and thick necks are not aesthetically pleasing to me in the slightest. For me, the only thing good about tall, muscly guys is that they make the smaller, more effeminate guys even more attractive in comparison.

      Do you want more options?
I do think it would be nice if there were more skinny guys in the 55 cm range for those who want them, but I certainly can't blame companies for focusing on the sizes that sell best. It's great that some companies do offer different versions of the bodies (like with Senior Delf).

    17. What do you think of this trend?
I personally don't mind it since I like the bigger boys. :sweat
....If they keep getting bigger and bigger, maybe one day they'll just have a life sized one out. That would be pretty crazy! Although I might just be tempted to get it. (Just joking, but imagine what price it would be-- Yikes!)

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?
I wouldn't mind having some skinny lil' boys though!

Do you love the big super hunks?
There's a certain point where muscle might be too much for me...I'm not really looking for a pro-wrestler body, ahaha...

      Do you want more options?
It definitely would be nice to have more options! Even though I prefer the bigger boys, I think it's important to have a larger selection to choose from. Who knows, maybe I'll fall in love with a little cutie someday...If they have any! *_*

    18. What do you think of this trend?
The sculpting work on some is incredible! It's pretty amazing how far the artistic advancement of this hobby has come... A lot of those guys could pass for humans in photos.

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?
NGL, I love skinny dolls in general, and I also kind of have a thing for androgyny, so... yeah I'm gonna endorse this.

Do you love the big super hunks?
No objection to them on principal, but I don't think I'd ever own one. Or at least I can't think of a character yet that would interest me.

      Do you want more options?
      MUSCULAR GIRLS NEXT, PLEASE PLEASE!

    19. What do you think of this trend?
Now, I am a lesbian, so my personal taste is actually for the ladies..;) But if we're talking dolls, I just have to have lots of beautiful men hanging around me, relying on me for their....um....needs. (Well, who else is going to restring them and do their faceups? And I spend more money on their clothes than I do on mine!)

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?

I think there are plenty of them still out there, actually. It's not hard at all to find companies that make skinny dolls. Not even skinny tall dolls. DollZone springs to mind. My DZ Edward is just beautiful. He's 68cm and very slender, yet he's definitely not meant to look like you could push him around easily. He's clearly got muscle packed away; he's just not got the bulging OMG I CAN CRACK YOUR HEAD OPEN WITH MY BICEP definition you see from companies like Iplehouse.

Do you love the big super hunks?

See above. ;) I love women. As for my taste in dolls, I like muscular dolls and I like thin dolls. I like short dolls and I like tall dolls. I like girl dolls and I like boy dolls. I like dolls. Period. If I like a doll, that's that. I've fallen hard for tiny elves (Fairyland Dark Elf Soo), demure maidens (Asleep Eidolon Kina), pretty boys (Asleep Eidolon Sachiel), brooding ethereals (DollZone Edward), and muscular dragon kings (Dragon Doll Cheng). I'm an equal opportunity offender!

I WANT MOAR CHOICES. And I'm standing right next to Panbow waiting for a girl with some abs and biceps!

    20. As for me I like dolls about 50 cm. This size feels perfect to me. I don't mind that companies create bigger dolls6 though. There are a lot of people who like them. I would say, I want more options. The dolls, especially the boys, grow bigger. Why not to go smaller? People are different, so there have to be more options - enough to different tastes.
