Arg! Why are all boys so big??

May 28, 2014

    1. What do you think of this trend?
It's not for me but I tend to like 1/6 sized dolls so I don't think my opinion should matter too much in this area. :)

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?

Noo... I don't care for some of the scrawnier looks. At least, not enough to buy. I might cave for a Jack Frost from the Guardians though.

Do you love the big super hunks?

Even though I don't buy in that size, I actually do love the look of them. Those chiseled jaws. :aheartbea

      Do you want more options?

Shrink the super hunks down to MSD or 1/6 sized and I'd definitely want one.

    2. there are some of the larger beefy bodies that I really like though personally I do prefer lithe bodies with fewer muscles though not necessarily skinny bodies. I definatly love the fact there are more options coming out now though.

    3. The only problem I have with guys getting bigger is that their clothes are not hahahaha. Everyone knows Iplehouse's buys are a disaster to fit if you don't buy from Iplehouse and it's the same issue for any new size doll. Unfortunately for me, I quite like dolls that seem to be a bit shorter or bigger than the standard sizes, but I also love Dollie fashion and sometimes I feel like I'm sacrificing too many fun clothing options even though I'm getting a doll I really want. Oh well!

    4. I'm not a fan of the super huge, beefy guy trend, though I have seen some really nice looking, well styled ones. They're just not for me. My favorite boy body is the Volks SD 13 boy. It's not too lanky, not too beefy, and can look young or mature depending on how you dress it. Sadly though word is Volks is going to phase out that body :(

    5. I am once again experiencing this as a problem right now! Looking for body options but there's so few that fit my tastes...

I think generally it would be okay if one were to collect the sizes up to 70+! Because in the general term of sizes after all SD10 = 10 year old, SD13 = 13 year old, SD17 and so on, with the 70s being adults.
And looking at it that way it's still okay for me personally, with 70s being muscular and manly and 60s having more slender bodies.
However I don't really want any 70s so my 60s already are my adults.
And so I really feel the lack for boys generally under 60!
The only real option I found was the Souldoll Vito however he is way buffer than my grown-ups so that is impossible to use as a teen or younger boy...

I do however also generally agree that I do not want muscles on every boy... I want them slender, they do not all need a freakin' sixpack ><
(Same with girls though, the options of having 'normal, small bust ladies' are not that many either)

    6. Personally, I dislike huge dolls, but I am fascinated by how large they can be.

I like both skinny and muscular dolls equally, so I'm not biased.

As I said before, I just don't like huge dolls. But, I would be thrilled to see something muscular around 12 cm (or less). Now THAT would be awesome.

Well, wait, are we talking more 70+ cm doll options or just more doll options in general? I mean, I've seen a LEGIT BJD that was like 188 cm (Or roundabouts. Check out the video here:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1E58DN6Z6HA )
Honestly I don't feel like we need a lot more options for larger BJDs. I mean, sure, there's a whole new world of 100+ cm dolls out there but a lot of people don't have that kinda money. People just want cheeper dolls, and that's why Resinsoul and other cheeper brands are more popular.
But yeah, I think we definately need some mature mini doll sculpts, like 15 cm or less. Like, how cool would that be? We could finally have tiny fairies or something. Not to mention that basically the only mini dolls in existence are childlike.

    7. My boy Genesis is what I would consider average (slim but not skinny). I really like his body. He does not have those ribs showing like some slim dolls. That turns me off.
I wouldn't mind a muscular male doll as long as he has a more mature face sculpt. A muscular body on a doll with a very young face just seems wierd to me.
I suppose it also depends on the character you've created for the doll. Mine is a student who is studying archaeology, so he wouldn't necessarily be very muscular.

In real life, body builder type guys turn me off, so I don't think I'd want a doll with that kind of body.

As for height, I'm not interested in very tall boy dolls. My guy is 62cm and he is the perfect size for me. I can comfortably hold him and dress him. He fits perfectly in the crook of my arm and he can sit on my desk when I feel the need to have him close by.
I wouldn't enjoy a doll that is much taller.
I get disappointed when I see a gorgeous male doll that I would love to consider buying, and then find out he is 70cm or more. Same with female dolls. More and more are in the 70cm range.

    8. For me, i prefer built guys but not too much muscles. also it depends on the size of the dolls, if it is a 70cm boy i would prefer them built with muscles(those that give off a manly vibe) but if the boy ids relatively smaller like for example 55cm/60cm, i would prefer them to be lean muscular (those that give off a feeling like they are fit but not visible when wearing clothes). It also depends on the character i have for my doll, diffrent character will have different builts.

Generally i do not like dolls that are too skinny(totally no muscles), i find that it appears a bit sickly in certain cases. But each to your own, these are my preference

      To answer your question:
What do u think of this trend?
I will have to say that i have been waiting for it, i have always loved guys with more muscles on them and seeing them on my dolls just makes them extra special cause that would mean that they have the to die for body and face. ^^

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?
Not really i prefer the lean type not the skinny type.

Do u love big super hunks?

      Totally into them!

      Do you want more options?

I think it would be nice to have more options for people to choose from cause everyone has their own likes and dislikes and having more options just mean that there will be a wider range of dolls to choose from and that the dolls will be more personalise so i am all for it.XD

    9. What do you think of this trend?

I don't really care that much.

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?

I do like fit guys, yeah. But, I also like really tall guys, so their muscles have to even it out.
They're not going to stop making fit dolls completely.

Do you love the big super hunks?

It depends. I don't like beefy looking dolls. Like..Iplehouse's hero body. Not my type at all.

      Do you want more options?

Yeah, I think more options would be nice. But, that depends if it looks right with the head or not.

    10. I like a wide variety in my doll family. I have dolls of all body types and colors on my wish list. I just love the diversity! I would prefer if the new trend of "hunky" boys or bigger boys didn't outshine the smaller and skinnier boys though. We need all types of dolls for all sorts of collectors! And honestly, I do prefer skinnier boys. I would love to see some chubby dolls of all genders though. That would be awesome.

    11. I actually love the bigger boys :D
Skinny boys are fit for some character that I make but I mostly like the masculine bodies

    12. The 70cm dolls used to feel too big, but I got used to them... but 80-90cm... I am NOT going there (although some sculpts DO tempt me!).

I have some Iple EIDs... their sculpts, when I'm wanting a realistic doll, really grab me. I do wish they'd not ONLY specialize in muscle sculpts for those big boys... Wouldn't mind if they did a slimmer and slightly shorter EID body... But I guess they think there are other companies for that, but they don't go so well with IH's lovely realistic sculpts sometimes. (and definitely neck sizes don't usually work. Iplehouse often has massive necks compared to other sculpts).

I don't mind the move to bigger and more muscle-bound. It was nice to have that option. But I wouldn't mind even MORE options. :D

I wouldn't mind more options in smaller sizes... I agree that the dolls don't need to ALL be so huge! Those EIDs are like bricks to carry around!

    13. What do you think of this trend? I don't think I would be able to handle a doll bigger than the MSDs I have so far so the fact that the dolls, specially mature sculpts which I love, keep becoming bigger and bigger it's just not for me. But I love the guys with muscles so if that really doesn't bother me xD My SoulDoll Vito has some big muscles and I'm so in love, he is a really hot guy.

Are you dying for some skinny little boys? Nope, as I have stated in the previous questions I have a weak spot for muscled men. Plus sometimes I see very skinny dolls and as someone said before they do not seem healthy for me.

Do you love the big super hunks? Definitely yes! If I can't buy them because they are not in my size range it doesn't matter because I always love to see other people's dolls.

Do you want more options? We usually only find both extremes with really muscular guys on one side and the skinny ones on the other, but it would be curious to see a normal body: only a little muscular, not with a six pack but a normal belly...

    14. What do you think of this trend?

I don't like men with too many muscles*.

Are you dying for some skinny little boys?

I kind of am-- I mean, right now my collection is MSD-at-the-biggest, have yet to branch out into the big guys, but, like... Okay, the height of the Iple nYID looks totally do-able to me, but then they're all rather... built. Skinnier than the bigger guys, yes, but for some of the characters I want to doll-ify, it just means for the proper height and build differences, I'm very restricted. (okay, so I'm currently drooling over the SUPER skinny Soom Rosette boys, though I have no idea if I'll ever get my hands on the one who'd be the perfect taller-and-skinnier half of one of the couples I want to shell-- but that's still looking at MSDs, which is my comfort zone. When I have more space to call my own, I'd love to add bigger dolls to my collection, but I can only go so big...)

Do you love the big super hunks?

Yes! But I don't want to have a bunch of them-- I'm short, and I have a bad back, I can't HANDLE a bunch of super hunks! If I was going to have a BIG BUFF DUDE, his friends would all have to be significantly shorter and skinnier, I'm just saying.

      Do you want more options?

      I am all about options.

*WELL I DIDN'T MAKE HIM FOR YOU

    15. The Magical Angel boy body (XM body from Mirodoll) would suit a lot of you that want a thinner, less muscular doll I think. Most of my men I was happy to see them with gym muscles but my one character needed a far lankier build and that's the body I used. It worked really well and the MA body is ultra pose-able besides. I'm not set on one body type. I like them all. Each doll is different....

    16. I prefer my boy dolls skinny and not too muscular as well, especially because it just doesn't make sense for most of my dolls characters to have such a beefy, ripped body! I mean, one of them works as a bodyguard, so sure, he should be fit, but the others really aren't the type of characters who would be into working out(they're pretty lazy in that area xD), where would they be getting those killer abs?! ..and besides, the whole manly man look isn't really attractive to me, anyway. I'm glad it's there though for the people who love them, and I understand lots of people do! But I'd love some more lanky and slender guy bodies :D

    17. I guess I am more bothered by height than by muscle... Although - well, none of my characters are bodybuilders, so I have no use for super-muscular bodies either. I find it rather annoying that so many of the more manly dolls seem to be 70 cm and up these days. That's too tall for me. I like the 62, 65 cm size. My three adult male dolls are all within that range, and I have refrained from buying dolls that I otherwise loved because they were 70 cm and upwards. I have one 67 cm girl, and I know that any doll taller than that is likely to be just too much for me - not to mention that I'm not sure how I am supposed to handle one of those buff, heavy guys with my spaghetti-muscle arms.

The only case of my being bothered by not enough muscle (yes, that too happens to me!) is when bodies have really muscular torsos but narrow upper arms. There seem to be quite a few of those around (and I own one, too :p). I also find it funny that the 'non-muscular' Feeple65 boy body is actually pretty muscular and does have those muscular upper arms I was searching for. Needless to say, those upper arms don't fit in any normal SD17 shirts ;). This body can only be considered 'non-muscular' in comparison to the other, over-muscular F65 type :D... The non-muscular is perfect for one of my characters though; I adore it. Even though it can't wear shirts.

    18. Are you dying for some skinny little boys?
I am dying for some decent looking MSD sized boys! There are so few options out there. Most of the MSD sized boys I have found are very feminine looking.
Do you love the big super hunks?
YES! There are so many gorgeous SD sized male sculpts available.
Personally I prefer MSD sized dolls. I only have 1 SD and she is a smart doll.
I think the resin SD sized dolls are clunky and large. They are just not for me
      Do you want more options?
I would always like more options. I would like to see more MSD male dolls.
I think switch makes beautiful manly head sculpts. I would really love to see more MSD sized manly head sculpts.
I have had just a hard time finding a head sculpt to work with one of my minifee girls... I just ended up getting a male minifee.
I really hope it ends up working out for me! :)
