Artists Using Doll Likenesses without Crediting [Mijn Schatje discussion]

Until we hear it directly from Leeke, I'll be taking her words with a mountain of salt. >_>

 

EDIT: I really cannot find the post I am looking for, so I am gonna edit this because I really do not want to cause confusion as to who said what as I can not find the evidence I need right now. Ty ^_^

However, I do want to add I really do not want her to get away with this and even small steps to referencing who she traced does not make it right.

 

NabeeRain - I remember seeing that too, but I am not sure if it was LeekeWorld though or another company. I think a big problem is, at least from what I have gathered, that the laws/ideas about these things are different over in Korea. I don't blame them for not wanting to get legally involved, but I hope they didn't say that everything is okay and she can go on doing what she is doing.

 

Considering that she lied before about DIM, I wouldn't take her word for it about Leeke--actually, at this point, I don't think I'd believe anything that comes out of her mouth (or off her keyboard) with out some kind of proof.

 

I just get the feeling they aren't in much of a position to do anything about this (Or don't believe they are). Not only are they busy with their own things (they just had a huge renewal and have some pretty big release plans coming up) but they also may feel weakened by the internationality of it all. Legal lines blur between countries, especially when it comes to copyright.

If they did give her permission, it was probably because they felt it could cause problems for them, and thus problems for us as their customers if they tried to pursue anything further.

I hope this isn't the response of the other companies, but it's looking like it may be.

This is, of course, if she was actually telling the truth.

Obviously though, this sorry-excuse-for-an-"art"ist hadn't considered taking a peek at the radiotrash.org website to see Leeke's actual response to the plagiarized work: They didn't give her any permission.

Unbelievable. I don't even know what to say about this latest thing. Ugh. It's like nothing we do bothers her at all or something. So defiant and remorseless.

 

THose are not the responses we were thinking of. There was another response after this one I was thinking of from a company. This thread is huge and it is really hard to find...so until I or someone else finds it I do not want to state it as fact.

This is what I was thinking of, it was Bluefairy which I do not believe is the same as Leekworld (click on the blue arrow next to Onihime's name and it will take you to the post where their response is). This is where the confusion started. However, since Bluefairy accepted defeat, it is possible for others too. But let us hope this is not the case. Luts and DIM have taken a strong stance and we still need to hear from Volks. Let us regardless of what happens, that there is enough outcry to stop this type of thing from happening in the future.

You know, the thing that REALLY gets me about Mijn Schatje is, she doesn't even OWN a BJD herself!!(unless over the past week she has purchased one) I doubt it....

If only she knew how 'we' doll owners really feel about all of this.... it's all very upsetting.....these are just not 'ordinary dolls' they are truly very special.....and 'we' are very passionate about them, and protective of them....I love my dolls.....

That heart infuriates me too. I really think this just shows, to her, that what she is doing is acceptable, and of course she will use that to try to prove to others that it is too. Of course she still hasn't admitted that she traces. We can only hope that the larger companies don't stand for it. I wonder if Leeke knows how much she makes (and has already made) off of her prints, or the extent of the issue. *Sigh* I really wish we could see their response. It is sad, because I think promoting these dolls is good, and I like that she is linking them, and if she did this in the first place it would be fine. But after what she has done... I for sure wouldn't want her promoting any of my stuff.

Edit - Ha, E.Hadrian, that is so true. I would love to see the email she sent everyone :-/.
