1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Artists Using Doll Likenesses without Crediting [Mijn Schatje discussion]

May 31, 2009

    1. Sorry for the double post....

They are the Blastmilk's images on those earrings she's selling. as well as the other Jewelery on that store is her 'older' work and recognizable as the ones she traced/stole.

I just to took a moment to do an overlap of some of the images and they match perfectly.

      Original photo: http://www.blastmilk.com/dolls_toys/super_dollfie_bjd/mijn_me.php

    2. I dont know what to say anymore about this... I havent said anything actually but I just dont know what to say....

This just makes me mad that she can still get out with it!

I do not understand how she can still do things and those who publish her "art" dont do anything....
I dont even understand how she can/could even graduate! Its a 0 for that kind of stuff in all the schools I went into D<

    3. I just noticed this comment on her Facebook fan page:

      (emphasis added)

So now it's "drawing dolls" eh? OK. At least she's admitting it now.

    4. to be honest...sometimes, i want to know whether this person has a doll at least one at home...
I don't know...if she 'loves' doll so much, why not buying it, taking photograph and 'draw' it herself...it's like...she didn't really have the passion for the doll but just liking the pics and then see the opportunity by using great pics to make money, she created one or two 'drawings'...as the opportunity is getting bigger and the money stream is getting fast (hahaha), so, she keeps doing it...I don't know...but i didn't see her own doll photos so far...only 'illustrations'

    5. great doll pics is really entertaining sometimes. I use some great doll photos for my wallpaper so far!...i love it!..and one day, because i put a pic very often...you know what? i want my own bjd...now my wallpaper has changed into my one of my dreamed doll (head is at home already)...i wonder, after 'drawing' allllll that many beautiful faces, i haven't seen any of her own doll so far...mmm...perhaps, i'm wrong, though...the whole stuff in the blog, web, etc, mostly about illustration and products using it...

    6. I have read a lot of people saying that if you change at lest 20% of a work, then it isn't copy right infringement, but from what I have just read, this is not true in reality, no matter how much it's changed, it's still infringement. You can read it yourself http://help.etsy.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/263/c/11,75/r_id/100023 it's a bit down on the page, if you don't mind looking.

    7. Well any of you who had/are having their photos traced by Mijn, believe it or not, there is hope!

Register with ACID (Anti - Copying in Design). They are going after tracers on behalf of their members and have won some very big suits

      http://acid.eu.com/

    8. I whole heartedly agree as, long story short, I'm holding on to a registered screen play that I don't want a certain person involved with, people not in the know say the other person can change it just enough and do it but they can't.

In art school I copied part of the Sistine Chapel, to learn how it was painted, but I also put "after Michelangelo" on the picture. It's part of the learning process but you don't make a living out of it. Can't think off the top of my head who did the blue screaming pope based on an old painting but they never tried to hide who they based their picture on.

Thanks for the link, VV, makes me feel better releasing a few more things.

    9. That pathetic :/

And Disney is so going to devour her bones and all.

    10. Posted links on my Facebook page again. This is my third time. She burns me so badly! She is just a despicable liar.:x:x:x:x

    11. I found this shirt when I was shopping:

It's by danish designer Malou Sander, you can find it on her homepage as well:
      http://www.malousander.dk/news.html

Designers copying "artists" copying artists... :/

    12. I laughed out loud at this. . .

But back on topic, I've seen dolls on shirts before, there was that one at Forever 21 awhile ago, the link disappeared after a few days. Eithe it sold out really fast, or they might have been contacted by someone asking to take it down. If this were true I can't imagine how much waste it would be to get rid of the those shirts, I hope they at least gave them to those kids in the sweatshop that made them. . .

    13. In a way it's karma that Mijn Schatje is being screwed just like how she screwed other artists. The only problem is that the original photographer, faceup artist, and doll manufacturers are still not being credited or compensated for the use of that doll face.

    14. Can somebody please tell me if Mijn Schatje is going by another name? Or does anybody know about the artist, Marie Bhendrickx? I just joined a new art forum and the work of Marie, looks awfuly similar to Shcatje.

I wanted to inform the administrator; or forum honcho about it, but I don't really know how to go about it.

I did a google image search on Mijn Schatje and the "art" that showed up on google under Schatje, is the same as the "art" displayed on Bhendrickx page. I just want to confirm if they are the same person....

This Forum (Bluecanvas.com) is fairly new I think, so they (canvas crew) probably don't know about Schatje. They have a magazine that goes by the same name which showcases many talented artists work. I wanted to help protect the integrity of the other artist (and the gifted photographers here on DOA :D) by warning bluecanvas about this person: Schatje.

      Please Help!

    15. Mijn Schatje is a pseudonym she uses. Her real name is Marie Blanco Hendrickx, so yes, it would be the same person.

    16. Thank you much!

    17. I feel like forever hounding her online self with random comments of "thief" or a good "how can someone steal what's already stolen?" in response to that comment about how someone was "taking her style."

Hell... I would sue to the point of bankrupting myself if I could.

    18. And human nature wants me to buy one of those Sander shirts just to burn Mijn who wouldn't get a dime, but I won't.
I find her "crap" hideous in the first place, although I did like the Forever 21 shirt because it looked very similar to my girl. If the doll doesn't look like one of mine, or generic enough, I'm not interested.
