1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I've kept my avatar the same since I joined. I've had multiple people PM me out of the blue to say how amusing it is and how they recognize me by it. And since she's my cat and I love her, I see no reason to change it anyway.

    2. idk im new to this forum but on the car furums i remember people by what car they drive. since most on here have more than one doll im going to have to find a new way of remembering.

    3. I change it all the time. I'd be bored if I didn't, and I watch lots of movies, read lots of comics, etc, so I'm always into something new.

As for remembering people . . . it's random. I try not to remember anyone too much, though, because I like the internet to be anonymous. There are a few I am aware of. And if someone has a striking doll/s, I'll remember them that way.

    4. I remember names usually, and like some other people said, signatures too. I personally get bored with my avatar after a while so I change it relatively regularly... but it's always Iris and her little stars by her eyes are usually visible, so I think she's still recognizable.

    5. I usually remember names; especially the names of people who own dolls I like. I also tend to remember avatars if they're particularly striking orโ€ฆ weird. XD If the name never changes, I'm sure to remember the person regardless if they change their avatar or not.

I use to change my avatar and signature sets (yes, my avatar and signature MUST match! xD) a lot, but I've had my current one for awhile now and don't plan on changing it due to lack of enthusiasm (in other words -- I'm currently too lazy).

    6. Trying to think it through, I realised I mostly remember people because of their sigs, and their dolls' names, rather than their avatar or names... But if a person doesn't have a sig, I usually look at usernames before avatar.

I suspect it's because I spend a lot of time in the photostories forum, so I feel like I know the dolls better than I know the owner... :doh

    7. Mostly by names but at first it was by avatar, like tinybears OMG thats the cutest darn thing I've ever seen. (BTW does anyone know what it is?) I WANT ONE!!!!!

I'd change my avatar but I suck at taking pictures, and I think this is my best to date :)

    8. I'm re-upping this post, because I think it's a fun thread for discussion.

First question: Are you afraid to change your avatar?

Second Question: What does your avatar say about you?

Answer for 1: While I'm kind of new here, but I have this same avatar on many other forums in fandom, so I guess "yes" I am afraid to change it.

Answer for 2: The avatar is artwork from my favorite manga artist Mayu Shinjo, the creator of Sensual Phrase (Kaikan Phrase) and Love Celeb. The little blonde lady represents me. The purple haired hot guy is what my fandoms do to me, I love them and am attracted to them, but they torture me.

    9. I've never had an avatar since I joined, I don't quite see the point since I'm not a recognized member here. Then again, it doesn't really concern me anyway, I'm mostly here to look at pretty dolls. :)

    10. I remember avatars best, I'll admit, but I've changed mine twice, anyway. Just don't be sporadic and switch it up all the time, then I'll get confused. I made the one I currently have, and I really like it, so I use it. Before, I had Inu-Yasha, then my Dollfie. I like to think people recognize me now, since that one's been there for a while -- but just to warn ya: I may be changing it to Emma's pic since I now have a doll...

    11. I have only changed my Avatar once from my first doll that i quickly sold (Limwha Half-Elf) to my first "real doll" (Volks SD16 Amelia). I often think about changing my Avatar but I have had the same Avatar for a couple of years now and even though I have since sold that doll I now feel like my Avatar if my face on DOA and have not been able to change it. I have recently bought a Volks Shinku that I cannot ever imagine selling so I am considering changing my Avatar to her. Time will tell!

    12. I think I remember everybody with something different... >.<
Most people I remember by username, then the dolls that they own. Sometimes if I don't see people post as often as others, I'll remember them by their signature, avatar or sometimes by the title under their username...
I'm not frightened about changing my signature or avatar though. I doubt most people know me anyway, so it doesn't really matter. XD

    13. I remember people at first by avatar and then after they have posted a few times I remember the name. Its the hazard of working in customer service for so long, I have about a 2 minute short term memory for names. I have changed mine a few times but I always bring it back to the one I have now. My very special ferret Rick.

    14. I remember DoA members from their name first but their avatar usually gives my memory a push in the right direction. I change my own avatar depending on my overall long term mood, but I stick to two pictures anyway (the Mucha art I'm currently using and a pic of Slit Mouthed Woman).

    15. Are you afraid to change your avatar?

Naw, not at all! I've been around long enough that I figure many people probably recognize me by my user name anyway, and I get bored easily. So I like to change my avatar from time to time (like every month or two) to showcase another one of my dolls.

What does your avatar say about you?

It says that I love my dolls...and with changing it from time to time, it says that I love them all equally and that we're just one big happy family! Believe it or not, I actually used my avatar and signature on DoA to help establish limits for my collection (without limitations, I'd be overrun with dolls and in the poorhouse!);) I figured 7 would be the perfect number based on 1 doll as an avatar and 6 dolls to fit into a DoA legal sized signature. It worked out perfectly for me, and now I can switch and change them whenever I like and no one of my crew is ever left out! Everyone can see my collection at a glance whenever I post, so I think people also learn to recognize me by my dolls no matter which one is the current avatar. It's fun!:)

    16. I for one don't yet have an avatar, but I understand what you mean. There are a couple names I recognize within the forum, and a couple dolls I recognize, but mostly it's avatar pictures.
At the same time though, I never wonder "Who is this person," because frankly, I don't know any of you. I might see an avatar I recognize, but it doesn't help me remember individual people on it's own. I just acknowledge that I've seen it before.

What makes the biggest impact on me is your writing, and I probably still would associate that with your avatar, rather than your name. But for the average user, I don't associate the avatar with anything.

    17. I definitely remember them by avatar... its weird.

    18. I use my avatar for pretty much every forum I belong to.
I feel it depicts me and what I do perfectly so would never change it.

    19. I remember people from avatar, name, and text tone. I'm not scared to change mine, I just haven't found one I want to use instead. :P As for what it says about me...silly randomness? It's part of a bigger picture I drew called ninja milk, a product for ninjas with a problem with sneaking.

    20. For me I don't consider it isn't that I'm afraid to change my avatar or anything, more than I just don't want to :P I try to keep my avatar consistent throughout the different forums I go to (the my little pony forum I frequent being the exception, but I plan on making a pony version of my avatar persona for that at some point).

Hm, I would consider changing mine if I made a BJD version of my avatar persona.

For others the avatar is the thing that catches my attention the most, followed by sig, text colour and name.
