Be With You: age27 doll Discussion

Aug 28, 2013

    1. He looks awesome, vevet! :) Thank you for testing out different sizes on him- I'd like to get one of these dolls eventually, so it's a great reference to have.

I was at KBJD this past weekend and the Be With You booth was selling a lot of different tops and pants for the Age27 boys. Hopefully when Mr. YG gets over his jet lag, he'll add them to the site!

    2. chobi: Thank you! OH! Mr YG! He's awesome!!!! and I didn't knew he was selling outfits for the giants. He told me he was planning to sell them soon, maybe they're ready, I will ask him latter, I'm waiting for an order and maybe he can send me those pants in the same box. Wood 27 is a very special giant, I would LOVE to see more of those guys around. I'll be happy if you have one :)

I'm glad you like the picture! Here's another one from yesterday shooting :)

    3. Ooooooo! He's so handsome! Which faceup did you get?
Having clothes to fit these men would be wonderful!
I definitely want to get one of these boys this year.

PS - I love how his shirt fits: open! ^_____^ :nosebleed:drool

    4. aernath: Thank you, his face up is B-type. I ordered about 4 or 5 tops from M3, I just tried a short sleeve shirt and that jacket. I need to try the others but I think they will fit. I want another guy too, maybe Santa may bring me a Star doll this Xmas ^_^. LOL open shirt? LOL he's sexy and he know it...

    5. Yes! WHEN when when will Star be finally released? :atremblin I hope not too long now! He would make a perfect Christmas present!

    6. Star was at the Korean BJD Show this past weekend! And I met YG! He did a whole head-sculpting class. He made this base form to sculpt on that made it really easy for all of us to start... and put a whole kit together for each of us--tools and clay to sculpt on it! It was the most fun I've had in a LONG time!!!! I hope he will sell the kits on his site. He said he might do more classes/workshops. He's a very good teacher.

Here's the head-base with re-moveable and re-positionable teeth and removeable eyes--the clay goes on the front part of the head and you can control what kinds of lips, nose, brows, eyelids, cheeks, chins, etc.

Here he is showing one of the people at the workshop what to do--

He was SO nice! He wasn't finished teaching us after 2 hours--we had to go to the Closing Banquet. He offered to come back afterwards to teach the rest! Even though he must have been very tired after being in the Seller's Room since 8:30am and that was the third day of the show!

Here is the one-off Be With You did for the Closing Banquet. I don't think he sold! :( I wish I could have got him, but I'd spent way, way too much money by the end of the show!

Sorry for my crappy photos! Star is the two on the left, one on the right is Wood--

I WISH I had bought one of these boys... They really are well engineered, and I very much respect YG as a sculptor.

Now I am thinking about it, which is why I'm looking around here. I will need a few months to recover my funds from spending at this lovely show. I wish more people could have come to it... There weren't enough of us attending, I think. It was a GREAT show--we really got to spend lots of time talking with the companies and artists. They are all small and are pretty much run by the artists...

Velvet-- Love the wig you have on your guy. Also--the pants you sewed looked perfect! (I can't sew at all.)

    7. I absolutely love Wood!

Butโ€ฆI thought I'd leave my 2 cents because I just came back from Korea and visited the ninenine style boutique. They have Wood there and have him displayed in their version of EID size jeans (just one style). Since they also carry the doll and manufacture their own line of clothes (stumbled into their actual workshop too)...They might be a good resource to ask about fit or future products. Who knows maybe they might be able to take a group order or something...

    8. Thank you so much for the photos! I really wish I could have gone to that! What an exciting time I bet you had!
Maybe next year. I will have to plan for it.
I think I will wait for Star. I like him just a little better. But definitely, this year. Want.

    9. wow....cool photos...thanks for posting.

    10. agree'ed way cool... freaky looking as sin but way too cool the teeth bit surprised me (especially the ... poseability(not sure that's the best word) of them a brilliant idea for sculpting

    11. aernath: I have no idea when Star may be released... but I know I have to safe money from now LOL

april: As I told you, Mr YG is a genius, You was lucky to be there!!! Thanks for share those good pictures. LOVE it.:)

mdonline03: That would be very good. I think Mr YG have very good relations with Nine9 Style (I think that is very probable that the outfits (for tinies) he's selling in his website are made in Nine9 style, just thinking).

Yesterday I tried the long sleeves shirt (EID size) from M3 and they fits well. The length of the arms are perfect.

The pants... I think that Herculean size may fit, but I'm not sure, Wood have long legs.

    12. I fear that there may not be another Korean BJD Show next year. Ms Cholong ran it this year (she's repped for a ton of bjd companies, most DollHeart), and speaks Korean and helped translate a lot. But she's leaving for a different job, so she probably won't be able to organize another big event. :...(

Also--the attendance (and therefore sales) was not great, so I fear the companies might not feel it worth the expense and time to return, even if someone was able to help organize another event. It really is very bad. Some of those workshops were more involved and more fun than the ones currently offered at Dollism Plus US. I've never encountered a doll con like this one and I've been to a number of them... There were more companies and more dolls and more one-offs and specials than I've ever encountered before... It really makes me sad not to get another chance to meet all these wonderful companies... outside of Asia, anyway!

... although it is better for my bank account. It was so impossible to resist the many dolls and eyes and heads and outfits there! *_*

DreamingDoll had a lot of Ninestyle outfits for sale at their booth. I think they must have good relations with several doll companies.

Mr. YG had some shirts and other clothes at his booth... they did look like things that Ninestyle would make. I remember seeing some plaid shirts... I wish I had looked more closely to see what he had!

I am seriously thinking of getting this guy. I think I liked Wood... but Star was very nice, too. They are very close in looks. There were differences--I think my photos are too poor to really see them. There may be some close-ups of the faces taken by others in the KBJD Show Photo Thread, though.

I was very grateful to be able to meet so many wonderful artists at the KBJD Show. Mr. YG was quiet, but friendly. The other companies usually had a very quiet person with a very out-going one, which was a good combination. The Peakswoods people were very personable! I think they will be at Dollism US. It will be great to see them again! The Crobi doll people were very sweet and friendly. Everybody enjoyed all the companies--Enchanted Doll eyes, Oscar Doll eyes, BNB doll, Migidoll... and many others!

      ---

Here is Be With You's One Off special for the Opening Banquet (it was a movie theme). The details of the outfit were amazing! And the head was a special sculpt just for this doll! I do not know who bought him, but he did get sold!

    13. Omg, April, thank you for the photos and info!

Wow. I wish I had been able to go to that show! I didn't even know about it (granted I have never been to a doll show), but gosh that sounds amazing!

The more I look at this doll, the more I like him. But I don't know if I am ready to commit to such a huge doll. However, I admire the sculpting and the engineering a lot, and if Be With You created some 60-65 cm range dolls in the future I would be all over it! They also sound like a very cool company, which sweetens the deal. :)

    14. Oh--forgot to mention... Just for standing, the basic dolls stand like the Kaiser stands can work for big dolls if you get the super-large size and the kind with a wide base. You can't do really extreme or tilted poses, but they work for just standing. I personally like the black Dollmore versions since the black looks great on darker backgrounds and doesn't show up as much against dark clothes. I used these types of stands all the time for my EID males--which are heavy! and other tall dolls. Probably would need something larger and heavier for 80-90cm, though! I don't like to keep any dolls standing, even with stands, though (I live in CA and no stand will keep a doll from toppling if there's an earthquake). Very sturdy stands like the Volks style (with settings you can screw tight), would be more secure, perhaps--but again, can't do any really crazy posing, just basic standing. And I prefer waist-stands. The saddles seem like a doll could fall out of them if you aren't careful... plus they have to fit right... and they always look bad, to me, on anything where you can see it and it's not hidden by skirts!

I know... I'm hesitant to go bigger than 70cm. I wish more companies wouldn't make such BIG dolls! Even Crobi was showing off their over 70cm boys they were going to be coming out with, at the Show! *_*

But--gotta say that these guys didn't look as big and heavy as IH EIDs... and I have two of those. The Be With You guys are about a half-head or more taller than EIDs, but they aren't as bulky... So they might not be that much of a handful. Still... not something that will go with 60-70cm boys all that well...!

My tallest buy is 75cm-- a Dollmore Glamor Model. He's so skinny that he's almost like a regular SD... but doesn't match well with them, even though, sitting down, he's not too far off in proportion. Anway... I'm wondering how he would look with a Be With You guy. I'd have brought him along to the KBJD Show to compare, but I had too much other stuff to carry... and I was trying to NOT buy dolls...!

Be with you has the tiny dolls. ;) (although they look sold out on their website... I hope they sell more, since they seemed pretty popular at the Show)

    15. My dolls are in the 58-65 cm range, so I suspect putting one of these 80 cm beauties next to them will look pretty out of scale. The Be With You faces are also much more realistic proportions than my other dolls, so it's also going to be a style mismatch. The tinies are very cute, but I'm not really a tinies collector, probably won't go smaller than msd. Still, I will hang on to the hope that Be With You will one day create a doll and/or body that would fit into my collection. Such great sculpting skill and great anatomy. It's a good balance, lean and elegant without being too thin and stringy.

    16. Be With You does seem to be just starting out... so hopefully they will add more dolls to their lines in the future. Right now, it's just the big guys with 2 head sculpts (one not yet on sale), and the tinies... But that's not too bad for a new company. Hopefully they will be able to stick around and expand!

    17. Just to add to the stand discussion- the Age27 display models I saw were all supported by wooden stands (obviously meant for smaller dolls) that gripped around one of their thighs. They're sturdy enough standing on their own, but the stands made them even more secure. At one point during the KBJD banquet I accidentally banged my knee on the table, hard enough to make the plates rattle, and the Star on display didn't even budge!

So finding a decent stand that can hold onto one of their legs might be a lot easier than searching for a huge one that can go around their waists.

    18. I haven't seen too many leg-grip stands... I'll definitely have to look into that (since I seem to be getting more big dolls, even though I'm trying NOT to!). I'd been using smaller stands and just putting them around the legs sometimes, but the fit isn't all that secure...

    19. Oh, there isn't such a thing as leg-grip stands (as far as I know), they were just stands for smaller dolls that happened to fit around the leg! Sorry, that last post wasn't worded too well.
It's crazy to think that the Age27 boys are so huge, their legs are as big around as a smaller doll's waist!

    20. I am waiting for the day a brilliant bunny MAKES a double leg-grip stand... the trick would be where/how to mount the leg posts to a base. Someone who could make one that the post placement had some minimal adjustability would be a demigod lol.
