Best Deal You've Ever Gotten

Best deal I've ever made was honestly the price of my faceups... after all the frustration I was having trying to paint my own, I was starting to feel like this wasn't the hobby for me, and then I ran across an artist on tumblr, and decided she would be able to fix them. Three faceups cost less than any one of the dolls and saved all three of them for me!

 

The best deal I've ever gotten was the $110 65cm boy body I bought from Mirodoll when they were having a Christmas discount event. Even better, they already had some material matching the Soom Chrom head I was buying the body for from a previous customer who had sent them a Chrom head-cap to color match. So, not only did I finally get a body for my floating Chrom head for super cheap, it also matched him perfectly!

 

One of my doll's clothing style would have to be similar to the Victorian era or classical time or maybe even a Lolita type. The other doll, I still haven't gotten her but I'm getting everything ready for her once per ordering opens up, would be a pastel goth type of clothing I believe I base my dolls out of the style of clothing I wish to wear in public but is too afraid because almost no one where I live wear such a type of clothing. Which sucks because in my personal view I think they are beautiful and expressive

 

My mother @MurisDesigns makes my dolls a lot of knitted clothing because she loves to knit! It's quite an amazing deal because she is an amazing knitter! I can't believe how lucky I am!

 

I had this crazy luck when I spotted a lone pre-owned head in a Japanese hobby store (irl). It was priced around 40$. I didn't recognise the sculpt and didn't own a smart phone at the time to check but the style of the head gave me hunch it could be worth a lot more. I was in the need of some travel money so I decided to take the chance and buy it. In couple of weeks I had the luck to sell it for more than 5 times the amount I paid for it.

I recieved the doll with a company faceup, two wigs, an outfit, and her entire stock outfit.
A Flora with the faceup and outfit would cost $254 new, and I got that and more for $110!

 

My Dollshe Saint for sure! He's a tan skin and had been sold on the Finnish BJD collectors site for a long time. His price had been reduced a lot, so I finally got the chance to grab him for a mere 400€! He's in great condition and of course came with the CoA "cards", two faceplates, his own box and a lot of clothes so yay!

Basically I consider any doll that's under £100 to be a bargain hahah.

My RS Wu was £90. My RS Song was £100.

Love me some secondhand dolls. they're just way too tempting. I believe an awful lot of my bjd future shall be impulse bought dolls off the marketplace ahem.

My absolute best bargain though was an OT doll that were at the time selling for about £180 each due to the company going under and the small but rabid fanbase buying up everything for 3x retail or more. I managed to spot one for sale for £8, yes eight pounds on ebay and couldn't quite believe it.
I spent the week fretting over whether she'd actually come but when she did omg, I was so pleased. £8, for a doll that was at the time selling for insane money! AWESOME.
I got a few more cheap ones after that. one for £40, one for £60 and one LE only the other week for £70 when her original rrp was £199
ouch. She was still in her original box too.

I also once found a Tonner doll in the charity shop for £5 (yes bought) and a trendy girl sindy with red hair (the rarest colour) for £1. She's worth about £50

Never seen a resin doll though, one can always dream though right? lol.

 

I don't think I've ever gotten a great deal for a doll or other doll related stuffs.

 

Around a year ago i bought a head with the perfect face up for me for such an amazing price, it was an instant buy. it was 200 USD i believe.

 

Aileendoll cat for $65, and an Evethecat Sphinx for a superb price, both at Resin Rose BJD Expo.

 

The very first doll I bought ended up with me getting a free doll head alongside her! Which turned out to be extra fantastic, as the extra head was from another doll that I was also looking at!

 

My best deal is my most recent purchase. Willow from The Mushroom Peddlar. I snapped her up on e-bay for just $175. I have Ivy already by The Mushroom Peddlar and had long wanted a set of siblings/non identical twins. Right time right place for once!

 

I was at a dollshow this weekend and found a (wooden Ellowyne Rose) vanity with stool for $20.00 that's only issue was one little drawer knob had come off (it was in a drawer) which will be an easy fix. My daughter found it online for $110.00! I was very happy with that!

 

I got my 5th Motif Venitu from a lady in Germany. His joints are really iffy and hes got a few stains and chips, but it was worth it because I ended up paying $350 for him. He had also been modded a bit but I personally think it was a deal, especially with how rare Venitu's are today

 

The only reason I've been able to participate in this hobby as much as I have is through really lucky deals, lmao.

I've gotten A LOT of Doll Chateau bits and bobs with over a hundred lopped off the price. Most notably being my DC Ada ($65), DC Irma ($260), and DC Charles ($270). I couldn't ever justify buying DC dolls at full price.

I've gotten some great deals out of buying damaged dolls too! I recently bought a bundle with DZ Raphael, DC Bella head and a Resinsoul body for only $200. They were extremely dirty and smoke damaged from a house fire, but really all they needed was a bath and restringing and they were golden! One of my favorite deals to date.

 

I just got a Nanyalin Faun (from 2011, and a doll I didn’t even know existed at the time - and which I immediately thought was gorgeous when I finally stumbled across him) from YJapan for an absolute bargain price. Beautiful face-up and body blushing, and with fees and postage and everything he arrived on my doorstep for about $215US.

 

A few years ago I got a brand new in the box dollzone doll and full set of clothes for $150usd. At the time it was selling for $390usd.

 

Probably my best deal is a Volks F59 head I got from Y!J a few months ago. I was looking for a girl head, and I wasn’t particular on the sculpt, so when a listing came up for 5000yen, I jumped. The pictures were all blurry (clearly from a smartphone), so I prayed that she was in better condition than her price. And probably because of those pictures, there was only like one other bid.

When she arrived, she was undamaged with a beautiful faceup (if it’s not company, then it’s professional). The best part is that I paid for the head fully in points, and I only paid about 6000 yen plus points for her body, so I have a full Volks SD for about USD$50

 

I once got a pair of free shoes. But I am not sure if that counts since she wasn't able to use and sell them?
