Big or Little dolls?

Jan 19, 2015

    1. I have all sizes in my attempt to try them all. I found that I definitely prefer my SDs. They have more clothing options other than CUTE!! so thats a plus for me. I can give them tats and it doesnt look like a tortured a small child. And as others have mntioned they just have a presence because of their weight and size.

    2. While I love the looks of some of the SD dolls, I'm sticking with MSD purely due to size. I literally have nowhere to put a doll any larger, and leaving a doll stored in a box on a closet shelf defeats the whole purpose of having one as I'd only get a new friend because I want to have her in my life every day.

    3. I'll only buy YoSD or smaller. The odd thing is, I really prefer the look for the MSD & SDs, but I just don't have the room. I have shelves that a 26 cm doll will stand perfectly on, and nowhere for anything bigger. I guess it's a good thing too, because I fall in love with practically every large sculpt I see. This way, only a few really appeal to me, and I can keep my collection under control. (That's the theory, at least.)

    4. I would generally say both. Big has some really gorgeous sculpts, little has some really cute ones. Big ones are rather heavy, little ones can sometimes have things go missing (magnets, where do they go?)
General personal preference is for little dolls, since I like chibis and they are so much lighter and easy to carry (and not all are babyish, some are actually very mature). Doesn't mean I don't have large ones, and my Cloud is decently heavy, but I wouldn't change him for the world ^^

    5. When I first started in the hobby I felt that I wanted both big and small because they all had their own pros and cons. However, now that I've had two MSDs living with me and have been to meets to see bigger and smaller dolls I feel myself leaning towards the bigger sizes. I do love my MSDs but I don't think I'd want to go any smaller. Even with just the two of them, I feel closer to my bigger boy (4cm bigger to be exact XD)

    6. I have an ongoing story which has all ages of characters, so I've got 1/12th size tinies all the way to 72 cm big guys. My only thing is they have to all look like they exist in the same universe. So no Chicline or 52 Idealian dolls for me.

    7. For now, I only have MSDs. I think it a good size for displaying. not too big, not too small. I live in a resonably small apartment and I like to keep them close. I have them on a glass cage/ lamp on my table, so I can always look at them. If they were SDs, I think I would have to keep them in a box :(
But I would like to own a SD someday :)

    8. I have a Realpuki called Noodles who stands on my desk underneath my computer monitor with her pet chameleon, she also has a carry box (old business card holder) which means I can take her about with me when I feel like it. Noodles is just under 10 cm.
My other doll is a 58 cm Dollzone Orlando, who is so large she has her own seat on one of my office shelves. Orlando is great for posing and dressing up, but I can't really take her anywhere yet. I need to make a carry-bag for her, but I would still be worried about her getting too much sun!

    9. MSD is the perfect size for me. SD feels like too much maintenance, and anything smaller feels immature.

    10. I grew up playing with gijoe/star wars action figures. Also loads of 6-8 inch action figures. Only dolls I ever played with were barbie sized and gijoe 12" guys.
Now that I'm older I find SD way too big. I actually dislike most ofhem but every now and again I fall in love with one here and there.
I still prefer 1/6 scale slightly maturish dolls with slightly exaggerated features. Dollzone 27-29cm dolls are perfect.
I also like tinies around pukipuki to pukifee size. Also love littlefee.
Msd are probably my Favourite size (slim msd) but I love being able to play with yosd size more since I have better control and am able to use preexisting props. ;)
I wish there were more odd sized dolls out there.
Also love unoa chibi and other chibi msd/yosd dolls.

    11. My dolls are all 16cm and under right now....I just love the tinies.

I Have a goal of getting a Bambicrony, sometime this year, from their Ciao Bella line. She's going to be around 27cm, and for me that's a tall BJD...but, I'm really looking forward to getting her :) She will probably be the tallest girl in my collection.

    12. I have everything from an impossibly tiny, 6cm-tall Dream High micro all the way up to a hulking behemoth of an EID Superhero in my collection... and there are things I like and dislike about each size. My favorites are the 57-60cm Delfs, though. They're "big enough" to have a lot of physical presence while not being so heavy or so tall that they're difficult to handle. They're also easier to sew for than the smaller dolls.

    13. I like MSDs and smaller SDs.

I have a 23cm DollZone Wendy and I love her, but she is so small! I'm sure I won't ever go any smaller than that (famous last words).

    14. I have been always in love with SD size it's easy to use and sew for even easier to photograph, but I had the same problem as yours I loved tinies and bought a realpuk Soso, he was cute and everything but was hard to find anything for him even wigs so I ended up selling it

    15. I prefer SD dolls. Their clothes are soooooo cute and there's so many styles :) I don't actually own any MSD or other minis so maybe I should give it a try

    16. I absolutely adore my yosd girl. For me she is the perfect size to handle and pose. She is even fun to sew and craft for as her size gives just enough challenge to make it fun but not enough to make it a headache. However my favorite size is definitely MSD which I have 3 of and a 4th on layaway. My largest doll is an EID woman and she is probably the biggest I will ever go. :)

    17. I love all sizes of dolls^^ I'm currently owning one SD, waiting for an MSD (which I believe is my favourite size), and I also have Hujoos which are Yosd-sized and a DC Russell which is either a Tiny or Yosd, I'm not sure !<br>I love diversity, I love making interact bigger and smaller dolls together. I believe it's a bit sad to limit yourself to only one size : but it's true that some collectors just aren't at ease with bigger or smaller dolls. I think you should try and see if SD-sized is for you, or if it's not !

    18. Although I have often been attracted by small models,
Today, I realize that I prefer large BJD,(sd,msd)
      YoSD some, but not smaller.

    19. I love my MSD's but I have recently discovered the SD and wow, I'm so amazed by them and their clothes!
I think a variety is good though. I don't have any BJD's smaller than MSD's, never really looked at them. Maybe it's time I did.

    20. I love both~~ and I owe both (kinda, my largest is a msd so far) and it is so much fun to own both because they can have so much more different interactions in photos~~~ ^_^
