Big or Little dolls?

Jan 19, 2015

    1. The first time I saw tinies I thought they were way too small. Now that I see more pictures I am liking them more and more. I'm still new, so I'm sure the more I see of all the sizes the more I will want every single one! :)

    2. Although I love the look of SD's (I have quite a few), I've decided to only collect MSD and YoSD sizes. I'm not afraid to move and play with them, just its a lot more trouble! I find I like YoSD's more at the moment for there portability. I am house sitting right now and brought my favorite YoSD with me because she is so easy to transport. I don't think MSD or SD are really good for that. If I didn't love MNF's much I probably would just stick with YoSD's but no smaller I don't think.

    3. I think I prefer 40 to 60 centimeters (My Celine is 58cm), I guess I prefer the ones around 60cm anyway. Little dolls don't seem to "satisfy" me, actually. :''

    4. I am pondering the same questions you (OP) do! I think that time will tell what to buy when. Right now I feel like I'm plenty fine with my MSDs. But already, I am ogling PukiFees and am also thinking about how cool it would be to have at least one of the mothers of my MSDs to visually expand my dolls' story.

    5. I like bigger dolls. They are a whole lot easier to hold and handle in my opinion! :)

    6. after owning a 66CM boy and 26CM boy, i started to prefer small doll like minifee and YOSD size.
big doll is handsome and awesome, but after sometimes like if we travel, i couldnt bring the big one out, because of extra long bag that i had to carry up the plane, and small one are easy for me to just put in my bag and go overseas~
so i will prefer to fetch back small dolls instead of big dolls again in future :)

    7. I really love having variety. I have one 70cm, two sds, two msd, and a tiny. (and five floating heads) Not having one wardrobe for them is challenging but I do like that part of it.

    8. lol me myself prefer a normal sd size
      i own a various size of doll 75 / 68 /62/ 58/ 25/ 20/ 19 cm doll
i used to won a 42 cm doll but yeah i cant really take a photo of him with my other doll so i decided to sale him
two of my boys have a big build so it is very hard to find the cloths for them and they are so heavy
and my yosd .... they are cute but they cant do much post
so i prefer a normal sd cause they are lighter and it easier for me to find a cloths for them :D

    9. I love all sizes ! I have 10cm to 70cm dolls
      My favorite is 10cm but I own a lot more a 40/60cm dolls ^^

    10. Right now I prefer MSD, they're the perfect size to me :). I do find myself wanting an SD now and then, but their size intimidates me. The last SD I had I sold within a couple of days because I couldn't stand her! She was strung too tightly that posing her was a task from hell. And because I don't have any experience restringing yet, I didn't feel comfortable doing that yet. While I do like tinies, I don't play with them when I own them out of fear that I might break or damage them. So yeah, I definitely feel a lot more comfortable with MSD's.

    11. MSD are my favorite size for both appearance and how easy they are to handle, but I have a thing for Yos right now because I'm used to smaller dolls (I'm a plastic doll collector too) and I like how young they look. With my MSD I don't think I'll want to take her to many places (other than the forest where people won't touch her tbh) but with the coming 26cm girl I think I can imagine carting her to the mall with me or somewhere else.

I also like tinies (Specifically Pukipuki) because they're so darn cute and I could take so many ''Tiny person in a big world'' photos with one and put a little case for it in my purse. But getting a tiny is not in the cards for me right now, I'm content with my MSD and her little friend.

    12. I naturally gravitate toward larger dolls. Most smaller dolls don't have the detail and maturity I'm looking for but they are adorable non the less.

    13. I love the tinies! Although now that I have a Littlefee, I can see the appeal of bigger dolls. (I don't want to love the even bigger dolls as my bank account would not handle them!)

    14. I have off topic dolls about MSD/YoSD sized and as much as I like them, they seem a little big. I only have tinies, with the 30cm ones being proportioned like adults. Making clothes from easily obtainable Barbie/ Ken patterns is a big part of what I do with them. I also like the size, partly as I'm a little under 5 feet myself. I have craved dolls in the scale I'd played with as a child that were more pose-able and realistic for years. I may want a few MSD/YoSD someday, but I like my 6th scale tines for now. As KoalaSam said, tinies are also more affordable!

    15. I have one 28cm, one 45cm, and the rest are SD-sized ranging from 58cm to 68cm. I see why people like the portability of the smaller dolls, but SDs tend to look more mature and I like the weight of them.

    16. I like big and small. I've never thought bigger ones were harder to deal with. But then, when I first got into dolls there were ONLY big dolls--no tinies at all... so it's not as if I had a choice.

The bigger dolls were easier way back when. There were more of them released. Doll items were easier to find for the larger dolls. Etc. So there was really no problem with bigger dolls (and by that I mean 60cm size, since there were no larger dolls than that at the time). There were very few minis, and less range of clothes and styles of them.

    17. Even though I agree with some other people here that there are more clothing, shoe, and wig options for SD dolls I just don't think I'll ever get one. They just seem so huge and unwieldy to me. Also I've planned for a lot of my characters to be YOSD size because I like how young and cute they look. That means that the adults in my storyline can only be MSD because they fit better with YOSDs. I only have two dolls one tiny and one YOSD. And I just love the YOSD size. It's so easy to carry around and find a place to store or display. I will say, though, that there are a couple dolls that are on my pie in the sky grail doll list (the ones that I will probably never have because they are discontinued or rare or super expensive) that are SD size. And despite their size I would *love* to have them. But if there was a way to get the same doll in an MSD size I would prefer that.

    18. I love both, but I prefer the smaller one, like MSD. It's wonderful that SD has advantages in options for buying stuff. But sometimes, SD is too heavy and big for me. In my opinion, MSD is the best size to play with.

    19. I like large dolls, 60+ 70+.. my friends said the best thing for tiny dolls is that u can bring them to office and play w them while working lol..

    20. I have 70cm, SD13s and two little Pipos Cheshire cats that are only about 9 inches tall. I fall in love with the way it looks, size just really isn't an issue.
