Big or Little dolls?

Jan 19, 2015

    1. Which do you prefer, large BJDs or smaller BJDs? Honestly I was imagining a SD on my shelf and I can't imagine it. To me sometime larger dolls can look a bit lanky and I think I would prefer another Yo-sd or a small MSD.
      What about you?

    2. Since my childhood I always loved small things. The smaller, the better :) Now I'm a grown up, and I still love everything small. The largest doll size for me is probably 30-35 cm.

    3. It actually depends on the look of my character because smaller msd sized dolls just can't be mature looking enough compared to the SD sized ones[in my opinion of course]. I have a character who looks mature so I would need to give him an SD sized body compared to my other character who needs to be in an MSD sized body because he is smaller and youthful. Of course this is my preference ^_^

    4. I agree with kimbapchan. It depends on the character. All of my dolls are based on my OCs, and I choose doll size depending on their age. Since all of my dolls except for one are in the same story, they need to look right next to each other!

That being said, if we're going solely on my favorite size to handle, dress, paint, etc, and not even considering character, I normally prefer 56-63cm. There are more body and face options in that range, more sculpts that appeal to me, and I find it much easier to sew for and paint larger dolls.

But I do love that my 25-30cm dolls easily fit in my purse or hoodie pocket and can go everywhere with me. XD

    5. I have Large (63cm), Medium(46cm) and Tiny (16cm) size.
      In my opinion.
Large size : I like the sculpt of this size the most because many company created him or her very smart and beautiful ( many dolls have "sexy eye" Haha><), joint can flex more than, easy to buy they outfits in my city but I think it's rather big and heavy to bring him out of home.

Medium size: I think, this size is between teenage and child, smart and cute, easy to bring him out, joint can flex same SD size.

Tiny size : 3 words ..Lightweight, can play everywhere and CUTE!!!!!.

But the most, I love Medium size(MSD)

    6. I've had all sizes fron 12cm to 90cm, and although I prefer the bigger dolls for company (they are as big as a cat, therefore quite companionable I think!) and 'wow' factor, I prefer the tiny dolls for *squeee* cute factor! ^_^

no doubt about bigger dolls being harder to handle and dress though - never mind restringing! :nosebleed

I keep selling all my tinies as I prefer big dolls, then I go buy more tinies as they're so cute I can't resist them :XD:

    7. I never thought I'll be collecting tiny dolls. I like SD ones. But now I have 4 or 5 tiny bjd's in my wish-list. I just discoreved for myself how cute and positive they are. Still loving big dolls. And now loving small ones too ^__^ ))

    8. I love my big dolls. I don't have any tinies yet. I want them though. :eusa_pray Oh man, a puki puki pong pong, I love that smile... <3

    9. I have a 1/6 doll that I adopted, and love to take care of. I also have 2 1/12 ones that the girls at my college love to look at! Though hopefully I can get a 1/3 doll some day when I get enough money.

    10. I have tinies because they don't take up a lot of space. The larger dolls are beautiful too. I'm thinking about eventually getting and msd.

    11. The largest doll in my collection is 50cm, and I find her a little too large - the largest I'm comfortable with seems to be 45cm. The smallest is a shade under 10cm and I don't think I'd want anything any smaller than that!

    12. I have an SD and an MSD and I much prefer my MSD.
It's much easier to carry her around with me, she's the perfect size to snuggle with me on the couch, I've had a lot more luck finding many varieties of clothes for her and she's small enough to be able to lay out on top of my desk. :3

    13. I like little dolls better. I have 3 SDs only because I love the sculpts but the size is not my favorite just because I prefer MSDs and smaller , they're all actually the same when it comes to taking care of them and SDs are even easier to dress (I struggle a lot putting shoes on my MSDs and tinies) still, MSDs are perfect for me.

    14. I appreciate larger dolls for display purposes. My MSD and off-topic tiny (Ai) are my favorites to travel with though. The size of tinies makes it easy to put them in a bag and carry them; I love taking my MSD out because even though she is larger, she is not cumbersome to carry around. I have taken my SD out before, but it can be harder to find a good place to put her down.

    15. I prefer larger dolls. I have had yo-sd size but it just didn't feel right. But maybe in the future I will find one that changes my mind.

    16. 1/3 Dolls or 70+ plus dolls do not require more care, but they do require more space to store/display.
I have five (5) dolls that range from 63cm-72cm, and they all require more space and larger props.

    17. I like having all sizes :) The bigger ones don't require more care, but they are less portable. Of course, they are often more detailed and look quite lovely. I enjoy my mid-size (1/4s) also, because it's easy to change their clothes and pose them. 1/6s are nice, because they sit easily on your lap while you do other things. And 1/12s are easy to take around and work with a lot of playsets available at toy stores. There are pros and cons for all sizes, which is why I enjoy both big and small!

    18. Im partial to SD and up though I do own a MSD.

    19. I like the smaller ones. I have a few of that size. They are much easier to find clothes and accessories for. I never thought I'd get the MSD size till I found one I had to have. I have 3 of that size. :)

    20. Both. Little ones can go with you everywhere. Big doll > better huggies. :3
