Big or Little dolls?

Jan 19, 2015

    1. I thought I was an MSD girl forever and always, since the sheer size of SDs intimidate me a little. But lately all the dolls I've been falling in love with have been 60cm+! The tinies and YOSDs have never really appealed to me, simply because I'm drawn to older and more mature sculpts. But who knows, maybe my mind will change one day.

    2. I like smaller dolls more. They have a more childlike appeal.

    3. I prefer SD size, generally the 58-70cm range. I have tinies too though, and I still adore them.

    4. I bought a 70 cm doll last year and I think smaller would be better in my opinion. I'm hoping to get a smaller doll this year to see what it's like.

    5. I've only got one SD so far, and while I love him to pieces and do want more SDs eventually, space is an issue. He barely fits on my shelf now as it is- he's too tall, even sitting! I tend to gravitate toward MSDs, YoSDs and tinies at the moment, though I can't say it's entirely out of necessity (though not worrying about where the heck I'm going to put them is nice!). I think they're a little easier to work with and much more portable. But I do wish there was more variety in the clothing options for the tinies- that's one of the advantages of larger dolls.

    6. I love all size dolls because they each have their own story and meaning to why they are the size that they are.

    7. In an ideal world, I'd be able to shrink all my SD's down to 35cm or so. That's my ideal size: somewhere between YoSD and MSD. However, that's not gonna happen, so I'm just going to say I prefer Big Dolls. All my favorites sculpts just seem to come in that size.

    8. MSD's all the way..
I just can't bond with the larger dolls. I've tried over four times, each doll I would have just adored if it was smaller, and just couldn't bring myself to want to handle or pose them. They are just too much doll for me I guess. It sucks too because there's a few out there I really like. But also I do have limited space, so the MSD size works out the best for me.

    9. I really like seeing big dolls in photography, they are lovely. But honestly I have quite the same opinion as Zodiac.
I adore msd size and smaller, they are just easy to handle, easier to get props for that match their size and I just love almost all of the little doll face-sculpts that I met so far.

    10. my limit is at the MSD size, especially for space
      :XD:

    11. I like both, smaller and bigger dolls. I have to admit: smaller dolls are easier to pose. But that doesn't change my love for my bigger ones :D

    12. :)MSD for me also some tiny's as well.

    13. I noticed I prefer smaller dolls recently. (Mature tinies, actually, which should have been obvious to me considering how much I like action figures...:doh )

    14. I started off as a MSD lover but I've recently switched to 60cm dolls and bigger. For some reason, having a bigger doll gives me more of a motherly attachment to them. X3 I guess it's because I can locate them easier and have an easier time dressing them up and showing them off. I tend to spoil my doll's a bit too much. XD

    15. I've started with tiny ones (29 cm. and 34.5 cm.) and I must say that it's a good size if you live in a smaller apartment or if you like to travel with your dolls. After moving into a big house I am considering getting a bigger dolls:D I think if your finances are not very tight you should try both -bigger and smaller.I have a plan to get to the bigger dolls gradually so I won't be so intimidated by they size *_*Let us know what you decide:)

    16. I like the look of bigger dolls, acessories may be more realistic, but the truth is I can't feel dolls bigger than 50cm as good, as I feel tiny ones. And I also love making dollhouses, and the big ones are too big for our tiny home. Now I have PukiPuki, Sleeping Elf Coco and some bigger artists' dolls. Earlier I had also Iplehouse Tatiana, but we haven't get along well, she was about 40cm, so I think it isn't size but something else. But I think it's all up to you. I know people, who like every size and who like only big ones.

    17. I am loving the 1/6 size. I am dreaming of a Kaye Wiggs doll but she will be one of the few larger dolls I get. (When I can get her) I am having fun creating patterns and outfits for the dolls I have.

    18. What about just in the middle? I'm a big fan of msd dolls. I like the sd size more then the yosd size but in the end I always choose msd.

    19. Favorite size is MSD (light, practical and easy to carry) but I also like SD (60-75cm).
The SD sculpts looks more mature and that is why I like them more.

I don't thing big dolls need more care, just more space :)

    20. It depends on what I'm going for. My primary "world" dolls are SDs. Everything else are generally MSDs. I just find it easier to sew with SDs and the sculpts I liked for them when the collection started were more mature for the larger sizes. Otherwise personally I'd rather keep MSDs around.
But all the grails are larger dolls. I just like keeping smaller dolls for meets and such since they are much easier to travel with.
