1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BJD as a Family Habit

Nov 10, 2012

    1. I'm currently the only one in my family who knows and wants to get a bjd. My mom know of them, but shes pretty much on the fence of, "Let my daughter get scalded by testing the waters, let her find out what she likes", she also watches me look at sculpts, and are tastes are vastly different, she prefers dolls with sweeter faces, smiles shyly and has dreamy-ish eyes, while I prefer angrier looking, or slightly confident looking sculpts with smirks and sleepy eyes :P

    2. I'm the only one in my family who is into the BJD hobby, but it seems kinda cool if it's a family affair! You'd have things to talk about and all of that ~

    3. Well I have only mentioned my dolls to my family in passing, I think my parents might not understand why I love them so much especially at their price. One of my best friends got me into the hobby, and we have in turn got another friend into the hobby. Which is cool because we all live together it makes group orders and shipping cheaper. I'm not sure what my boyfriend thinks, he likes to get stuff for my dolls and we talk about them, but I don't see him getting one of his own anytime soon.

    4. i just influenced my sister and her bf to this hobby, and now, theyre doll owners too XD its always nice to share the same interest and hobby with your family =))

    5. I'm the only person I know of in my family that is in the hobby.
      My mother is a "doll person" though, and she likes my tiny, she even knits her clothes, so I wonder what will happen when I get a bigger doll (an MSD say).
      My husband is accepting, but I can't see him ever owning one, because he finds them "creepy" (this is from a man whose 40k army is daemons too).

    6. Johquill, that is how I got started, knitting for my kid's doll. Then she didn't like me trying things on her and said to get my own.

    7. My younger brother wants to join in because he really likes the dolls but our mother wouldn't be very understanding when it comes to him. She has no problem with me collecting (save for the arbitrary 'you're wasting too much money on them' whine) but I'm a girl and collecting dolls is "acceptable". We've decided to test the waters with him getting a character pullip from a game or a tiny Soom centaur (since centaurs are considered more... "manly" I guess?) at some point when he feels ready to save for one and we'll see how that goes >_<;

    8. I'm the only one in my family into the hobby, but because I'm a bit younger I still have to ask my parents for permission to buy a doll or doll things (even though it's my own money). This causes a lot of tension because both think it's a waste of time and money. Sometimes I wish someone else in my family was into the hobby as well, so they wouldn't think I'm crazy...

    9. I'm the only person in my family who is into the hobby, but mom thinks my doll is fascinating. So maybe some day she will get her own?

    10. My sister latched onto the hobby really quickly after I introduced her to it, and now we spend out evenings nerding out in front of doll sites.
