1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BJD Cafes in Korea, did you know they existed?

Apr 3, 2015

    1. Oh wow! That sounds amazing! Makes me want to plan a cafe' day with dolls!
I love to plan a party so this is inspiration! ^.^

    2. I knew that and I would love to go! It would be amazing if there's a BJD Coffee in my city

    3. That sounds so cool! I would absolutely love to go to one of them.

I know that Volks has Tenshi no Sato, which has a little cafe... that's on my to do list, but if I ever happen to be in Korea, I'll have to visit one of these!

    4. I would definitely check it out! I'd probably take one of my (currently non-existent dolls) with me for a photo shoot. Can't say I'd be a regular but it would be cool to go at least once!

    5. I didn't know but it looks so great ! If there is one in my city, I definitely go there for meet new peoples and discovers new sculpt, take photoshhot and just chat about BJD.

    6. Wow that would be awesome to go to! Unfortunately Hawaii doesn't have much of anything...

    7. That sounds like a lot of fun! I would love it if there was something similar in my area. I doubt there is, though looking around won't hurt!

    8. I would love to go to one and bring my doll with me! To bad its gone now :( Does Japan have anything like that? Next time I go over there I'll have to look into it.

    9. I didn't know, but at the same time, I'm not surprised. Asia always has a lot of cool places, and Asians they are very unique and creative.

    10. Ive never even heard of a bjd cafe! That is awesome! Maybe Japan will come up with a couple too. Would totally go! It would be great to see other dolls and make friends <3

    11. That is so awesome! I'd most definitely go with my doll if I could! ^-^

    12. Hello guys! Do any of you have experience of going to a doll cafe? I've received some recommendations (for areas in S. Korea), so I am slowly gearing up to go... I was wondering whether you liked or not, and what your impressions were if you've had the chance to go~

    13. I've been to nine9style bjd cafe in Seoul Korea several times! I loved it every time! The clothing options for purchase were quite diverse, they had a decent amount of dolls and props for purchase as well. Usually there were not many people in there, but once or twice I stumbled in during a doll meet. I can't speak Korean plus I'm very awkward, so I did not talk to them or join in, except to tell one girl in Korean I love her dolls, as that was pretty much all I could say. She giggled and was so sweet and appreciative. The employees did not speak any English, but tried so hard to understand me anyway. Google translate was used a lot, also naver translate, the Korean version. Koreans as a whole are very nice and helpful. The shop was rather small but had many lovely set up options to photograph your dollies in! The food options are fairly basic, coffee, tea, water, cake, cookie. But it's perfect for a light snack and drink while deciding how many thousands of won (Korean dollars) youre going to spend today. Haha.

    14. That sounds amazing! I have nine9style on my watchlist and after reading your reply, I might just bump it to the first place to go to. :D Were there only clothes or also accessories or eyes? I'm also thinking of taking my dolls - my doll, - with me... good idea or nah? Thanks again! :aheartbea

    15. any doll cafe in tokyo area?

    16. There were accessories and eyes as well! I got resin cat ears and tail, also eyes, clothes and accessories from the cafe. They also sold a few bjd sized stools and bookshelves. I took both my dolls with me almost every time. It was hell on my poor nerves going through the subways and streets with my dollies in carrying cases, but we made it there and back safely every time. I say bring your doll! They had multiple set ups and backgrounds to choose from for photoshoots, plus then you can show the doll to the employees and say "I need this size eyes" or "I need clothes that fit this doll" and they'll help you find what you need! Of course this was just how it was when I went, it may be different for you. I saw it all through rose coloured lenses, as it was my first bjd cafe experience. Be warned, it's hard to find and requires a lot of walking. Unless you can get a taxi to understand the address youre trying to get too. The only sign it's even there is a small bjd poster on the building, I believe it was on the third floor. Some days it was open, other days we walked all that way only to find it closed. They had odd hours. Anyway, hope you have lots of fun there! :)

Oh and do you know there is a Volks store in Seoul Korea? I went several times, rather expensive but oh so worth it. They had figurines, body parts, eyes, clothes, accessories, dolls, etc. It's actually not far from the nine9style cafe, just a medium length walk! Both are in the hip part of Seoul, where all the young people shop. Very nice human clothes there! It was called Hongdae I believe, the area the Volks store and nine9style cafe is in. Again, not many English speakers among the employees, but very helpful people nonetheless. I bought my boy at the Volks store, and my girl at nine9style! Warning, you can take photos in nine9style, but not in Volks! Also they have photoshoot setups in Volks, but there's definitely a more uppity hoity toity feel in Volks. Nine9style is more casual. I also think they only appreciate Volks dolls entering the Volks store. Other then that have fun!

There is the smart doll store in Tokyo, but I believe they are vinyl and therefore off topic. Still a bjd though. Also there are several tenshi no sumika stores in Tokyo. These are Volks stores and they sell clothes, accessories, parts, dolls, etc. Volks is king in the Tokyo bjd community and honestly the bjd community period, so they will be the easiest to find in Tokyo. I don't know of any other bjd stores or cafes in Tokyo, but I'm sure they are there. Just do your research, ask around and then go spend all your money at the places you found! Hahaha.

    17. Unfortunately, the Volks store in Korea is closed permanently now. So as far as I'm aware, in the Hongdae area only the Nine9Style cafe is still open.
Photo directions to the nine9style cafe & Map. I went in 2014, and I was too nervous to even take out my doll haha. I did buy quite a few nice items for my dolls though and then left. It's not too bad of a walk, but make sure that you bring a portable wifi egg or have wifi access just in case you get lost ( so you can check the map )

I know of many doll stores in Tokyo, but I don't know of any doll cafes unfortunately. The closest thing I can think of are the Alice in Wonderland themed cafes.

    18.
    19. Guess who’s moving to korea :D :D

    20. Man, I wasn't planning on going to Korea (I already live in Japan and struggle with language barriers everyday, so I don't really want to go to a country where I know even less), but now I'm seriously considering it for spring break...
Flights to Korea are like eighty bucks from here, and I really wanna see the bluefairy dealer cafe...
