1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BJD pronunciations!

Apr 15, 2014

    1. I usually say:

      Luts = Lutz

      Iplehouse = ip - L - house

      Unoa = you - no - aa

      Leeke world = leak world

      Feeple = F - ee - pull

      Minifee = mini - fee

    2. May as well toss in my own two cents on this one...

      Iplehouse = ipp-el-haus
      Leekeworld = leek-ee-world (I think because I tend to read it as "Leek-Eworld," rather than "Leeke-World")
      Feeple/MiniFee/LittleFee: fay-pull, mini-fay, little-fay
      Bobobie: Boh-boh-bee
      Unoa: I go back and forth between oo-no-ah and yoo-no-ah on this one
      Lishe: again, I go back and forth, between "lish" and "lee-shay"
      Feilian: fay-lee-ahn
      moe: moh-ay
      Luts: luhts
      Yder/Ys: ee-der/ees

      It's interesting to see how others pronounce the different names... of course, most of the time when I deal with them, it's in text format anyway, so pronunciation doesn't matter as much, which is nice!

    3. I always pronounce 'Iplehouse' closer to 'eye-pull' than 'ipple' (but... not quite that, either), and I have a hard time switching because of the single 'p' even though I know I'm not supposed to be going by English rules.

      And-- worse for me, because I took four years of French!-- I say 'fee' instead of 'fay'. I absolutely KNOW it's wrong and what the word is and why and I can't ever seem to stop myself!

      (I always pronounce Yder like 'eider' in my head and have never had any idea how close or far from correct I am with that one)

    4. Always pronounced it "ipplehouse." Glad to see I was correct!

    5. Oh good I'm not the only one who says "ee-dehr" xD
      I'm one of the eye-pull people, too.

    6. That sounds like a job in the Mafia. XD

    7. I tend to vacillate between eye-pull (Mafia job?) and ipple... And yes, make all the nipplehouse jokes!
      Just thinking, it would be cool if Ys was pronounced like "Weiss." Although most of the time I read it as "Yis."

    8. I've been reading this for a couple days now so thought I should put my input in XD I will probably come back and edit this to add more later but...

      I says Iplehouse like eye-pull house....
      I say Yder like yay-dur
      I say Ys like Yis
      I say Leekeworld like leak world
      I say Minifee/Feeple/etc. like Mini fee and fee pull etc.
      I say Bobobie like bo-bo-bee
      I say Lishe like leash
      I say Moe like the name

    9. Me and my friend (both from the UK) say 'eye-pull-house' I've never heard it pronounced 'ipplehouse'.
      My pronunciation trouble is with the Doll love Evol- is it ee-vol or e-vol?
      So confusing! ;P

    10. Oh lord I wonder about this all the time. I'm always hesitant to talk about company names in public because I think 'someone's gonna get me on these pronunciations hnnngh'

      I'm also someone who pronounced Iplehouse as eye-pull-house, but one of the ones that got me recently was Dollshe. I'd just figured that the 'e' was silent, but when I was hauling my saint around at a convention one day a girl came up to me and asked if he was a Doll-she, and I thought '... Whelp, I feel dumb.' :sweat

    11. XD I say Eye-pull just to avoid saying Ipple because of that. XD If i said Ipplehouse doll around here... They will misshear it as Nipplehouse.. :sweat [IMG]

    12. LUTS is actual "loot -s"

    13. How does everyone pronounce 'Homme', like Duncan 'Homme' from D.O.D?

      I was debating it with a friend, do you say it as 'Hom-may' or 'Home'? Or even something different. :)

    14. Seekerbeliever I usually pronounce Homme as "Ohm", only because I worked in fragrance for a long while and Homme means "man" in French, and that's how it's pronounced...XD

    15. Miyukisetsu That's interesting actually and sounds better than what myself and my friend thought it was pronounced. Think I will pronounce it that way now, thanks. :)

    16. Seekerbeliever Glad to help! Before I worked in fragrance...I used to say "home" haha so it's totally understandable since it looks like it'd be pronounced that way or "hom-may" :D

    17. I'd say the Homme like...uh...how do I write that down in English.
      'o-mmm, the e is silent, and as far as I know the h actually too. I'm using the French way of saying it though :'D
      You can listen to a French man saying "un homme" here.
      (Edit: whoops, you guys were quicker)

      Yder is I-dur, in German it would be Ei-der.
      Iplehouse is Eye-Pull-House.
      Leeke is Leek-e.

      I have German and English ways of saying them, like Luts or Dollshe, and they sound very different from each other.
      Dollshe is Doll-she in English, with a long "she" like the pronoun, in German it's a short "sche" sound.
      I also have changed my ways depending on which way is used in my group the most, we had the discussion already several times and sometimes I didn't really get what someone wanted from me till I realized they were talking about company X.

    18. Iplehouse has always been ipplehouse to me, so its nice to know that was right according to Korean pronunciation, but I can't make myself say 'you-noa' for Unoa. It's always oo-noa to me although for a while it was 'ih-noa' because u in Welsh is an /i/ sound. If you have a few languages rattling around in your head it can be hard to settle on the right sound.

    19. What a great thread!

      I too, have always pronounced Iplehouse as "eye-pull" house and Leekeworld as "leak world".
      Bobobie, always trips me up. It just looks like "boobie" to me.
