1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BJD "Starter Kit"?

Feb 5, 2010

    1. 1) Only if you plan to keep them on display, standing up. If you're going to keep them in boxes or sitting on a shelf, you don't need it.

2/3) No, but I keep the more expensive dolls in their boxes, dressed in white cotton clothes (long-sleeved sweatshirt, leggings and socks) from Dollmore to prevent staining.

    2. 1) Is it necessary to get a doll stand? I met some doll owners at an event and they said I should get one ready for my doll.
It's not neccessary at all; a lot of people, I think, have their dolls sitting on a shelf, or somewhere just hanging out. I don't have a doll stand, and I never wanted one. Mine just lays on her box, and that's cool.

      2) Any of you make your dolls wear a set of white clothing underneath their attire to prevent staining? A few doll owners I met gave me the advice.
A lot of owners have done this. I don't really want to do this, so the first outfits I have for Emma are all light-colored. She even has a blonde wig, so I don't have to worry about staining as of yet. Owners like to use this white clothing for dark colors because the color tends to stain.

Of course, there are always alternatives to that, like pre-washing clothes and wigs before they go on your doll. Ideally, I'd try that first before trying to do some complex liner sewing, or something.

      3) What do your dolls wear when they're not out for photoshoots? Naked? Pajamas?
My doll has one outfit, and a kimono I sewed for her. Having a BJD isn't all about photoshoots. Mine is dressed in whatever I've left her in. I don't like leaving my immature MSD out, nude, because I'm concerned it will give off the wrong impression to others.
